i think we need to go all out to get Day and Gorringe.

it will definitley involve our first draft pick, possibly second too. plus they can choose between any of the following (of course some they would laugh at)

butcher
lobbe
renouf
oshea
p stewart
thomas
carlile
newton
young
d stewart
brett ebert
logan
ah chee
colquohoun
blee
cassisi
salter
stevenson
hitchcock

you must be bloody mad.

you want to give away a promising young kf, which come around once in every... well how long have we been in the afl and we have had maybe 3 promising young forwards before butch?

none of the bolded players should go anywhere.

of the rest many dont have any trade value bar lobbe , renouf and young.

I love Butcher, but I'd give him up for Sam Day.

if gorringe asks to come to port , and i think he will then i think a trade can be done as he is uncontracted.

if sam day asks then as an contracted player gc can play hardball with us while trying to convince day to see out the next year and hope he changes his mind in the meantime.

Zac Smith was such a gun in his first year. It's a shame he has done his ACL.

It's interesting that Tom Nicholls is ahead of Gorringe in the pecking order atm. Both uncontracted. Keep watching.

I saw somewhere that Billy Longer is one of Brisbane's many young talented players out of contract. He would be a great pickup... shame he's from Vic.

I don't want those players gone, well not most of them, but those are the players I would say yes to.

As for butcher, you mean the one who was a top ten pick who will most likely be playing sanfl reserves this week? Yep I'd trade him for day in an instant.

Yeah, a guy is going to leave a club that his grandad is a premiership hero at to come to port. Keep it real dude!!

I take it your talking about Tahlia, if so...... whats more important, your career or wanting to stay because grand daddy, because he hasn't played a game yet, and the Bulldogs are heading in the wrong direction at the moment. Every player thinks of the best oppertunity to get a premiership under their belt. I would have to say that we are in a much better position than the Bulldogs......no?

Yeah it's not as if Matt Primus would ever have done that ... ;)

I'm not sure why there is so much being placed on going after Day and Gorringe - they are younger that what we already have and expecting them to be the catalyst to short-term success (which is what a lot of people are after) is just crazy.

KPP has to be used for our first rounder unless there is a slider that we can't ignore ie Dunstan

Plenty of good midfielders to be had in the 30's with good skills

Parker, Horlin Smith, Christensen, Broadbent, (Newton:rolleyes::p:confused::( ;)?) as some examples, just have to be clever with it

need quality KPP early, expect around the 9-13 first rounder mark

Day and Gorringe are both older though than what we would get if we didnt trade for them and drafted a KPP/ruckman this year

Gorringe has proven nothing. Not sure I'd be keen to sell the farm to get him. Hes gone from a 17 year old playing great footy in the SANFL to doing **** all ever since. If we can get him for a second round pick then fantastic. Wouldnt be keen to give up any more than that.

I still don't understand what is wrong with the rucks we have. Just have Redden ruck most of the game then move him forward and get Lobbe in when the opposition are tired. If we need another ruck we can FA one later on...

Get us a ready to go tall forward and keep drafting kpfs and fast mids.

I think ruck depth is more a problem than quality

We're one ruckman short on our list

If there is a injury or two to our 3 ruckman we're down for the count

Its the whole Cam Wood thing from a few years ago, would a Jamar stop gap be worth considering if it was possible?

Once Redden can run out a game we'll be cherry ripe. Until then we will be woefully inadequate in this area.

On the weekend Gorringe and Day would have got us closer to winning then Stewart and Lobbe did. In 5 years time the quality difference between those players is only going to get bigger.

Don't know if anyone has already mentioned it, but I reckon Luke McGuane (unrestricted FA) would add quite a bit to our forward line especially with Butch and Shultz in there too.

Thoughts??
