As you all know, GUH / Horrie / <insert whatever nickname you called him either to his face (screen) or in private> sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago. He was a stalwart of BigFooty, hilarious and frustrating in equal measure, incredibly opinionated, but always with an underlying kindness. Unless you deserved it (in his eyes) haha.

If you’re interested in reading some lovely words about the man himself, there’s a couple of tribute threads. One on his beloved Swans team board (that is easily the best thread there for quite a few years):

And of course one in the Sweet FA about his equally adored West Coast Wonders:

It’s no secret that he absolutely loved Werewolf - playing, modding, discussing the game. Like a lot of us, he was hopelessly addicted to it, even playing games when he wasn’t able to contribute as much as he would’ve liked and when his health was really deteriorating.

There could be no better way to honour him in the Club Room than by running a game based on the thing he hated the most in the world - North Melbourne The Simpsons. No doubt he’ll be chuckling at that despite himself.

So strap yourself in for a game featuring the roles GUH hated the most (Fake Seer, Arsonist, Doppelganger were all high on his list), calling out scamps, posting in the thread instead of PMs, and hopefully a commitment by everyone to take out lurkers as quickly as possible.

Let’s get this show on the road …

Simpsons WW.jpg

The year is 2027 and an environmental disaster has engulfed Springfield. What started as a seemingly random sinkhole suspiciously close to the town’s nuclear power plant developed into a series of earthquakes over the following days and weeks. City wide ravines have opened up, separating friends and families alike and the only bridge out of town collapsed, leaving no chance of escaping.

Simpsons Bridge.jpg
Not that it stopped some people from trying.

Fingers were initially pointed at C. Montgomery Burns and the incredibly lax safety standards of the power plant in search of ever-more wealth (and clothes made from nearly-extinct animals). But over time rumours started to spread that there were some shady deals being made between the Springfield Mafia and City Hall, although their motives remained rather opaque. Some said it was an act of God due to the proliferation of rock and or roll music in the town, others (including local newsreader Kent Brockman) shared stories of possible alien involvement. As the weeks went on though, peoples’ beliefs hardened and the classic Springfield mob mentality started to take over.

Simpsons Mob.png
Although let’s be honest, they’ve rioted many times for far less.

Each new aftershock meant that the physical cracks began to widen and limited access to all parts of the city. Meanwhile, the metaphorical cracks among the residents grew deeper and more dangerous too. Neighbours fought against neighbours, former friendships dissolved into bitter enmity and the whole of Springfield devolved into something akin to Lord Of The Flies. Or if you’d prefer a more topical reference … into something akin to Season 9 episode “Das Bus”.

And now with the latest tremor, the town has split even further apart, the teachers at Springfield Elementary School have finally snapped, The Simpson family have lost their admittedly very-resourceful baby Maggie and the Springfield Police Department have their hands full trying to keep the whole place together.

BASIC RULES:
Roles will be randomly assigned to all players. Roles will be communicated before the start of Night 1 via PM (Private Message), except for Springfieldians (Villagers), who won’t be notified of their role.

The Residents of Springfield must identify and kill Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant, Springfield Elementary School, Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, Hank Scorpio, The Movementarians and Reverend Lovejoy before they kill enough players to satisfy their own win condition.

Each day will consist of two phases, starting with Night 1 hopefully on Tuesday 13th August:

Night phase (9pm – 8am AEST)
Players with night actions will nominate the targets of these actions via PM during this phase. These actions must be bolded and clearly stated to be valid. Actions will not be accepted once the clock ticks over to 8pm, whether or not deadline has been announced in the game thread.

Day phase (8am – 9pm AEST)
After the results of night actions have been announced, all players will publicly vote to lynch one player during this phase. Votes will not be accepted once the clock ticks over to 9pm, whether or not deadline has been announced in the game thread.

The player with the most votes by the time of the deadline will be lynched and their role revealed in the game thread. In the event of a tied lynch, there will be a multi-lynch i.e. all the leading vote-getters will be lynched.

VOTING
Votes must be in the game thread and must bold the player being voted. Tagging the moderators is not required. You do not have to provide a reason for your vote for it to be valid.

FAILURE TO VOTE IN ANY DAY PHASE WILL RESULT IN A MODKILL

OTHER REASONS FOR MODKILLS

  • Failing to nominate a night action on TWO separate Night phases (explicitly choosing to not use an action is fine)
  • Any communication about this particular game of Werewolf outside of the game thread, except for those that have an allocated PM group
  • Any deleting or editing posts from the game thread
  • Posting screenshots of BigFooty of any kind in the game thread
And just to reiterate outside the spoiler tag:

FAILURE TO VOTE IN ANY DAY PHASE WILL RESULT IN A MODKILL

ROLES

I’m hoping we get a really big turn-out for this game, so there are LOTS of factions and roles to go around. Depending on how many players actually sign up though, the number of factions, roles and powers might increase/decrease. Any changes to the role list will be updated in this post and announced in the thread.

Springfield Mafia
Get to kill a player of their choice each Night Phase, undertaken by the lowest ranking faction member.
  • Fat Tony - Night immune to kills and recruitment; seers as if he was a Springfieldian; gets to seer a player of their choice each Night Phase.
  • Fit Tony - Takes over from Fat Tony if Fat Tony dies, but will not be night immune.
  • Legs - Chooses a player each Night Phase and forces them to vote for a player of their choosing in the next Day Phase.
  • Louie - Can escape their first attempted lynch (the next highest vote-getter will be lynched instead).
WIN CONDITION – Eliminate Nuclear Power Plant, Springfield Elementary School, Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, Hank Scorpio, The Movementarians AND equal or outnumber the Residents of Springfield.

Nuclear Power Plant
Get to kill a player of their choice each Night Phase, undertaken by the lowest ranking faction member.
  • Mr Burns - Night immune to kills and recruitment; seers as if he was a Springfieldian; gets to seer a player of their choice each Night Phase.
  • Smithers - If Waylon Smithers dies, the Werewolves get an additional kill during the next Night Phase.
  • Zutroy - Blocks another player's action each Night Phase (cannot target the same player in consecutive Night Phases)
  • Frank Grimes - At any point in the game, can grab onto electrical wires, killing themselves and another player of their choice. Both players' roles will be hidden by the electrocution.
WIN CONDITION – Eliminate Springfield Mafia, Springfield Elementary School, Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, Hank Scorpio, The Movementarians AND equal or outnumber the Residents of Springfield.

Springfield Elementary School
Get to kill a player of their choice each Night Phase, undertaken by the lowest ranking faction member.
  • Principal Skinner - Night immune to kills and recruitment; seers as if he was a Springfieldian; gets to seer a player of their choice each Night Phase.
  • Super Nintendo Chalmers - Takes over from Principal Skinner if Principal Skinner dies, but will not be night immune.
  • Mrs Krabappel - Chooses a player each Night Phase and secretly manipulates their vote in the next Day Phase to a player of their choosing.
  • Groundskeeper Willie - If killed at night, he retaliates and kills the person who targeted them (or the lowest rung of the faction who targeted them, excluding any Night Immune or protected roles).
WIN CONDITION – Eliminate Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant, Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, Hank Scorpio, The Movementarians AND equal or outnumber the Residents of Springfield.

Neutral
  • Sideshow Bob - Night immune to kills and recruitment; seers as if he was a Springfieldian; gets to kill a player of their choice each Night Phase; gets to seer a player of their choice each Night Phase, but is only told whether or not they are Bart Simpson.
WIN CONDITION – Make it to the final 5 players of the game AND Bart Simpson must be dead.
  • Kang & Kodos - Both seer as if they are Springfieldians; get to kill a player of their choice each Night Phase; get to seer a player of their choice each Night Phase, but are only told whether or not they are Kent Brockman; if they seer Kent Brockman (or he seers one of Kang or Kodos), he joins the PM and it will be announced in the thread (but won’t be able to kill if Kang & Kodos are dead).
WIN CONDITION – Make it to the final 5 players of the game.
  • Hank Scorpio - Seers as if they are a Springfieldian; Can douse OR ignite all doused players each Night Phase; Night Immune and Protected players do not ignite (but stay doused).
WIN CONDITION – Make it to the final 5 players of the game.
  • Movementarians - The Leader - Seers as if they are a Springfieldian; Can recruit (up to 3 more Movementarians at any point in time in total) OR kill each Night Phase; Recruited Movementarians retain their night actions, but their win condition changes to the Movementarians’ win condition; Once The Leader is killed, the Movementarians can no longer recruit, but can still kill one player each Night Phase.
WIN CONDITION - Eliminate or recruit Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant, Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, Hank Scorpio, Reverend Lovejoy AND equal or outnumber the Village.
  • Reverend Lovejoy - Is given a list of players in the Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant and Springfield Elementary School factions, but doesn’t know their exact role; Can protect a player from kill actions each Night Phase (cannot target the same player in consecutive Night Phases).
WIN CONDITION – Wins if any of the Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant OR Springfield Elementary School win.
  • Gil Gunderson - Has no powers, but just needs to make it to the point where one of the factions, neutral roles or People Of Springfield meet their own win condition.
WIN CONDITION – Make it to the end of the game.
  • Krusty the Clown - Seers as if they are a Springfielder and is trying to get lynched.
WIN CONDITION – Wins if lynched, but the game continues.

People of Springfield (Good)
  • The Simpsons (Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson) - Share a PM and have three one-off Night Phase actions: Kill, Protect and Seer; if they seer Maggie Simpson, she joins the PM.
  • Maggie Simpson - Gets a one-off Day kill; if seered by The Simpsons, will join their PM.
  • Grandpa Simpson (aka Grand Uncle Horace) - Gets to kill a player of their choice each Night Phase.
  • Dr Hibbert - Can protect a player from kill actions each Night Phase (cannot target the same player in consecutive Night Phases); will not be told in the initial PM which doctor they are.
  • Dr Nick - Can attempt to protect a player from kill actions each Night Phase (cannot target the same player in consecutive Night Phases), but it will always fail; will not be told in the initial PM which doctor they are.
  • Ned Flanders - Can seer a player of their choice each Night Phase; always gets the true result (except where noted in a role description); will not be told in the initial PM which seer they are and cannot seer himself.
  • Lionel Hutz - Can seer a player of their choice each Night Phase; always gets a randomised false result; will not be told in the initial PM which seer they are and cannot seer himself.
  • Kent Brockman - Can seer a player of their choice each Night Phase, but will only be told if the player is aligned with Evil/Neutral or Good; if they seer Kang or Kodos (or is seered by them), will join their PM and it will be announced in the thread.
  • Apu Nahasapeemapetilon - Can either kill, protect, roleblock or seer a player of their choice each Night Phase, but cannot use the same action in consecutive nights and must use all actions before repeating.
  • Barney Gumble - MUST either kill, protect, roleblock or seer a player each Night Phase, but either the target or the action will be randomised; cannot use the same action in consecutive nights and must use all actions before repeating.
  • Otto Man - Chooses two players to switch at night, so any actions targeted on one player will instead be targeted at the other (and vice versa).
  • Troy McClure - Due to his popularity, starts each Day Phase with minus one (-1) lynch votes.
  • Mayor “Diamond Joe” Quimby - Their lynch vote each Day Phase is worth two votes; the first time they are seered or targeted for a kill by any of Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant or Springfield Elementary school, they will join that PM and take on their win condition.
  • Professor Frink - Once per game (at least 2 hours before deadline), forces all current votes to be invalid and restricts the lynch votes to be cast between only two players of their choice.
  • Moe Szyslak - Chooses a player on Night 1 (in a PM) and if that player dies, takes over their role; Sees as Moe Szyslak until takes over someone else’s role and then seers as that role.
  • Springfield Police (Chief Wiggum, Lou, Eddie) - Share a PM and each night can either investigate a player (but will always get a randomised false seer result) OR jail a player (where their actions will be blocked and silenced in their PM) OR kill a player (with a one in six chance they will hit their target and a one in six chance they will hit a random); cannot use the same action in consecutive nights and must use all actions before repeating.
  • Springfieldians (Villagers) - No powers.
WIN CONDITION – Eliminate Springfield Mafia, Nuclear Power Plant, Springfield Elementary School, Sideshow Bob, Kang & Kodos, The Movementarians and Reverend Lovejoy.

There is an Inanimate Carbon Rod in this game that will be given to a player chosen at random at the start of the game. Whoever holds the Inanimate Carbon Rod will be immune from being killed in the Night Phase AND being lynched in the following Day Phase (if they are the highest vote-getter, the next highest will be lynched instead). It must be passed on by deadline of the Day Phase or it will be randomly reassigned. It cannot be passed back to the player that gave it to you and can only be shared in the same faction once (or it will be randomly reassigned). The Inanimate Carbon Rod will explode at a randomly chosen point in time, killing the person holding it.
