Babar Azam just released a statement on why he's not playing the second test against England. Totally nothing to do with his woeful form.

"Reason for my absence for the second test was due to doctor's orders. The PCB had been provided with a medical certificate. I have been diagnosed as suffering from a work related injury and as a result I am on sick leave until further notice. I will not go into details as to my medical condition as I wish to keep that strictly private. I am doing my best to work with the PCB and my doctors so I can recover from my injury. I intend to return back to play as soon as I am fit and able."

I know he’s still taking crucial wickets but Tye is way too expensive these days in both white ball formats.

Funnily enough one was a maiden, so the other nine overs went for 8.7 runs an over

Wouldn't be AJ Pie without the pies.

A few key points here.

Steve Smith 'expressed a desire' to move back down the order and won't be opening this summer. Found it a bit tough did ya, Smudge? Thanks for wasting half a summer where we could've been bedding in Warner's replacement.

It appears a race in 3 - Bancroft, Harris and Konstas. No Sam Whiteman? :( Also, weren't the selectors keen on Renshaw a short while ago?

Josh Philippe has made the Australia A squad. Just, how? Oh that's right, he plays for NSW now.

Keeping stocks in this country so low he is 4th in line. At least Pierson made the squad

How farked off would you be if you were Bancroft, Harris or Renshaw hearing Smudge's selfishness confirmed?
Bancroft and Harris aren't good enough and Renshaw arguably isn't either. So they shouldn't be too miffed.

Out of the three I'd go Renshaw but he has a lot to prove in terms of consistency.

Whiteman should be in the mix at least.

I'm not saying they'd be any good however they were CA's obvious next three in line to replace Warner last summer and they got shafted.

They shafted themselves by not being up to standard.

Too early to tell but hopefully this NSW kid develops into the next long term opener.

I'd just be promoting Head and playing a Webster or Hardie.

Renshaw's shithouse. I bet you had a Matty Elliot poster on your bedroom wall as a kid.
