He quit the army to not serve in Iraq.

Not sure if he got a letter from his doctor about bone spurs….

I like Walz, the best of the options being considered imo
I saw Walz being interviewed last week and he really impressed me. Spoke really well, made some great points (prepared party lines) and had a few digs at Trump when required. Like Pete Buttigieg he can really present an argument and is actually worth listening to rather than just being someone who can smile and wave

Walz is a clear DEI candidate, given how wide a net of representation and inclusion that an affable 60 year old white guy from the mid west represents.

Feeding school children Minnesota Nice, my arse. We're watching in real time a god dammed Jew-hating, socialist, fascist, commie coup unfold before our very eyes. One that will lead to the end of the American experiment.

First they came for Joe Biden and I did not speak out—because I was not a Democrat

Then they came for the Donald Trump and I did not speak out—because I was not a Republican

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Wake up sheeple!

Walz is a really good pick for VP and is the perfect counter pick to Vance as the social studies teacher everyone liked vs the deeply offputting ****ing weirdo.
I tips my hats to their selection. Basically non-offensive. No in-fighting with his selection. Gentlemanly and civil endorsement from other prospects.

Shapiro would have been a lightning rod for all things Jewish and Palestinian so they've taken the wind out of that sail. The Republicans don't have too many sails available to fill anymore.

I come at this from a purely election winning strategic perspective.

I find it hard to fault the strategy being deployed by the Democrats.

Trunp's uneasy relationship with Projecr 2025. Some of the project's aims are

- Do away with independent judiciary & employ pro Trump attorneys

- Dismantle the education department & give parents vouchers to spend at school of their choice , including faith schools

- stop free school lunches

- rename the dept of health & welfare the dept of life

- track women who have or seek abortions

- privatise weather forecasts - I think this must be about climate change?

- do away with that 'healthy plate' recommendation & portion size. 'We can eat what we want!'

It's true , they are wierdos. Trump's most loyal fan base are fundamentalist Christians. I have lived amongst such people.

I don’t know about a lot of those things. But I’ve always thought that the government funding education was an important thing because we get the idea of ‘equality of opportunity’. I love the idea of giving the parents the money and freeing up the parental choice, so it’s not just the rich parents that have this opportunity, which is what we’ve got now.
I’ve spent 20 years supporting a very small independent school in regional Victoria that parents from doctors to bricklayers were able to send their kids to. It was an earthy and classical style education. We did our best to keep costs low for families, took strain off Vic gov, high commitment community m and ‘buy in’ from families. With a low money, got great outcomes, successful kids.
So that part looks good to me. Creates competition between schools, constant improvement, better university and work ready kids.

Thats the tip of the dystopian iceberg.

I think that Trump is being slightly disingenuous with his claims that he knows nothing about Project 2025. Especially when you consider that most of the people who formulated it are from his former administration and are expected to for the backbone at cabinet level and below jobs in any second Trump administration.

Then there is J.D. Vances writing of they forward of project 2025 and Heritage Foundations founder Kevin Roberts forthcoming book. But sure, Trump knows nothing of it. But he's so ****ing stupid that he can't even get his story straight when he tries to disavow project 2025. the reason that Project 2025 may be going to an end is not because of Trumps statements about the organisation. It's because its sole reason for being is finished. It was set up expressly to formulate policy be the cornerstone of an incoming Trump administration. That process is now complete.

I wish him luck distancing himself from something that is going to stick to him like his being an adjudged rapist, business fraud and holder of 34 felony convictions.

Anyways, heres a speed run through of all 30 chapters of the Christian Nationalist manifesto that is at the heart of Project 2025.

I recommend watching it at .75 speed.

You know who doesn't want to stop free breakfasts and lunch at schools?

This guy!

A community of several thousand isn’t having a private school. No choice there.

But we’ll bow to your what your experience has been and what you felt best for your family.

Even Bex won’t cure this level of brain rot.

Donald Trump has taken his obsession with crafting falsehoods about Democratic nominee Kamala Harris to the the next level, penning his own fan fiction on Tuesday about the vice president.

In a rant rife with misspellings and baseless conspiracy, Trump wrote: “What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination.”

The ex-president continued, “He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!”

Despite Trump’s attempt to sow doubt (and boost morale within the GOP), President Joe Biden has publicly and fully endorsed Harris, and has urged the Democratic party to “come together and beat Trump.”

Freshwater's school, the way he presents it, community-involved, frugal, not governed by State-inspired ideological imperatives, impliedly drawing on the experiences and support of community members. Sounds pretty good to me. It might even hire staff who inspire. Freshwater for Education Minister but keep your eye frugality, Minister Freshwater.

That is exactly what it is, well represented. Not without its struggles though, many actually, but as someone wise once said, “pioneers have the most fun”. And a new generation are continuing that legacy now.

Freshwater's schools. I'm reminded of how my parents, unkles, aunts, grandparents described their schools before they moved from the bush to Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. The generations who founded our lives, who didn't rely upon governments to do everything for them then whinge. Good on you, Freshwater.

State or catholic schools I presume
