Bruhn and Bowes literally just got named in the side a few hours ago after missing with injury. Keep it together, I know it's been a while between wins but maybe hitting the bed early tonight is the go.
Nah, hitting the bottle at 6pm after getting your first win in round 4 is the way to go.

He might not be home until 8am. It's party time in Tigerland.

Geelong are good. Very good. Richmond beating Sydney shows good signs for them as well. So hard to tell who’ll be better long term but Geelong haven’t really stopped for 20 years. Tigers will move on the remaining old guard soon and then we will get a better idea.

Geelong still have Hawkins doing incredibly well, but he could slow down next year or later this year. 36 soon. They still have Cameron. Need to develop and play another key forward, which I am sure they’re doing.

Great day for the Tigers.

I'm still not convinced by Dow or Ross. But the rest showed plenty.

A massive breakout game from Mansell. Rioli Jnr contributed a lot. Campbell oozes class. Brown had moments.

Overall a lot to like.
Yeah I’m with you on Dow and Ross

Don’t get me wrong I think they are both okay and are playing well this year but they aren’t blokes who are going to get picked first every week either
Ross is good offensively but definitely he can be lacking and Dow is good on the inside but lacks on the outside

If they could somehow be smashed together to form 1 player we would probably have an A grader on our hands 😂

For now I’m glad that Yze is persistent in playing them in the middle and giving them every opportunity and experience because ultimately that’s the only way we will uncover if they are indeed long term players or just making up the numbers

We also have a draftee who has now put together two near bog performances in the vfl in a row who will be knocking down the door at some point this year so hopefully we get a look at him soon

I like this guy.

PhatBoy, STPer18 can we appoint him/her the spokesperson for Richmond from now on? Feels like we'd all get along a lot more if that was the case.

Quoting intelligence while not knowing how to spell a guys name on 3 seperate occasions.

Just extraordinary hubris, enjoy the welfare cheques.
I don’t think I would ever now get to the point in my life where I’d be receiving welfare cheques Kobe. I’ve been pretty fortunate to have a path to a decent paying career and a healthy lifestyle.

Not that id disrespect people if they ever had to receive them for whatever reason.

Life can be tough for some.

But I wouldn’t disrespect people on this forum if they made a spelling error assuming they are struggling in life, as you perhaps are.

But if it makes you feel better as a person, solid points for you bud.

I like Moose too.
He doesn’t take himself too seriously but still maintains the banter between Cats and Tiggies fans.
Damn straight!
I’ll melt about your shitty egg shaped stadium with the best tigers nuffies
But I’ll also cop it sweet when it comes back the other way

That’s what it’s all about

Ross is very much in the James Kelly mould. Overlooked compared to the more talented players around him, but does his job week in, week out.

Lol. You're comparing one of the the toughest defensive midfielders the game has ever seen to a bloke who has no defence to his game.
Duncan's probably the better comparison if we're going by players who contribute every week but never seem to get the plaudits.

Agree with Kelly though. Just superb in the '09 GF in a position he's not known for either.

Sacrificed his own game and blanketed one of the best small forwards OAT.

No. Where did I mention defence? I am saying like Kelly, he does the job the coaches ask week in week out, whilst other, more seemingly talented players, get the limelight and plaudits.

Ross goes under the radar with players like Bolton, Baker, Rioli etc. get all the attention.

Kelly had Selwood, Gaz, Chappy, Stevie J etc who were the flashier types who stood out, but Kelly was the week in, week out workhorse.

I am in no way comparing talent, or defensive capabilities.

Duncan is probably the better comparison, but I always felt Kelly was the most underrated player in that Geelong side. Enright, Mackie and Wojcinski got their flowers towards the end, but Kelly is often overlooked by opposition supporters.

Absolutely.

Was just mentioned on our board the other day actually. Jimmy, Gary, & Selwood get all the credit, but we don't win those premierships without Corey, Ling, & Kelly.

Those guys sacrificing their own game to help the team allowed the others to be so great.

On Ross, I really liked him early days. Looked like you'd found a late gem, then he seemed to go off the boil for a little while.

Looks to be back and playing some consistent footy which is good to see.

Growing up in Geelong in a Geelong supporter heavy family, Joel Corey was my favourite. Ultimate professional and SO underrated.

Ross went off the boil because Dimma in his infinite wisdom tried to turn him into a flanker and then a winger, rather than as a midfielder. Had a very good last 6 weeks under McQualter as a midfielder who goes forward, and has had a decent without being great season so far.

Did have a very good game last week V Port though with 26 dipsosals, 5 clearances, 5 inside 50's and a goal.

Yep, there shouldn’t be any pride a bloke that has been compared to Selwood only playing because Bruin and Bowes are injured. Combined with old men Duncan and Aitkins on their last legs.

You want better than that. He was up there in the draft with Wardlaw and Philipou in his draft class.
Assess him as such. Don’t give him excuses because spuds aren’t playing midfield and protecting him.

For those with some semblance of intelligence, they’d realise this is the case. For you, I think you probably have a few more points to make 🙂
"Old man Atkins" 28 years old and with 106 AFL games.

Clark's had 2 full senior games and isn't ready at this stage. This is what you were saving up your toxicity for?

The Richmond under 26s were pretty good yesterday and it's no trouble to recognise that. Something a few Richmond supporters have struggled with the second a Cat player below 30 makes a good contribution.

I've always backed Ross in as a shining light as far as relatively young Richmond players. I'd be backing him in to keep Prestia out of the side as a midfielder this or next year.

No one is convinced by Dow.
He was one bad game away from being dropped and probably not finding his way back in for a while. He had an immaculate preseason but for whatever reason it fell in a heap in the first few games. He was solid against the Swans though.

Ross is a solid best 22 player, that 4th, 5th, 6th best midfielder on gameday that is never gonna win a B&F, but on any given week is good for 15-25 touches a game, uses the ball well, plays his role. He's a victim of Dimma throwing him inside, then outside, then to half back, then to the wing, then they slimmed him down, now they're building him up again. They stuffed his development but when he's given a midfield rotation and played there consistently the kid is handy.

Joel Corey was always the most underrated from those sides in my opinion, followed by Darren Milburn.

I’d probably not even say Geelong are rebuilding. They’re pretty much a lock for the 8. Really depends how far they can go.
Great clubs don't spend 5 to 10 years in the bottom 4 rebuilding.

Geelong, Sydney, Collingwood.

8 flags and 18 Grand Final appearances between them since 2002.

When is the most recent period any of these teams had a 'rebuild'?

Did the pies have a flat patch post MM? After the 2011 GF?
4 years out of the finals (14,15,16,17).

In fairness to them, crucified with injuries in most of those years, and Bucks genius coaching of course.

Picked up De Goey, Adams, Moore, Maynard, Crisp and away they went. Good clubs don't overcomplicate things.
