Seriously, the commentators and the umpires had me agro throughout that game. The umpires were ****ed but in almost every broadcast when an underdog is putting in the game of their season to knock off a favourite, the commentators rise and get excited. See last night for Saints against Brisbane for example when the commentators really rode the excitement of the Saints knocking off a flag contender. This bunch were so ****ing flat and were basically begging the Dogs to come back, almost as if they were the underdogs and would take a brave effort to get up off the canvas to beat the big, bad favourites. **** that annoyed me, they barely bother describing each of our players if they aren't named Bud.

OK, I'm done ranting. Brilliant win. We can beat the best teams with such an even spread of effort. Pumped. And without much at all from Bud or Papley up front. Our wings and half backs set the game up beautifully with how much uncontested ball they found and we beat them time and time again in defence and then beat them back the other way. Jordan Dawson is looking at a very nice contract.

But **** those umpires too.

Ps. anyone having a go at JUH for his debut, pull your heads in. Yes the commentary was nauseating leading up and during the match, and no he did not have a good debut. But he is an 18 year old kid playing his first game. We would not want people bagging one of our kids if they'd had a debut like that.

Genuine question - anyone else think we're in the conversation for the flag? Form in Victoria is tops. Who cares if we lose the odd game to a second rate Hawks, we're not going to face them in Finals, our record against the 8 is huge.
We've defeated 3 of the top 4.

I say we aim to misbehave :grinv1:

LOL more fool me. Anyway I don’t think he was nearly as bad as the others.

Actually my bad I'm getting mixed up with Fox, dunno who it was. I agree with you that new guy seems ok in general, there was still a bit of crying about missed frees to the Dogs that annoyed me.

George Hewitt smashed Libba today.
Blakey looks great running out of the back half.
McInerney was solid.
Love seeing the ball in Gulden's hands, you just know he's going to do something clever with it, but how about him smashing his golden fist over Bruce - BANG!!!!
Robbie Fox is so reliable.
McCartin was an absolute rock in defence today.
Hickey got taken round the ground by English today but still grabbed a stack of possessions and did some great things. Could not be happier with having him in the middle this year.
Cunningham, Lloyd, Kennedy, Parker - dependable and untiring games.
Rampe did what he had to.
Hayward popped up at key moments as did Heeney and Papley to lesser extents.
Buddy is due to go off the chain soon, you can see it. An almost day for him today though.
Ollie was pretty solid today.
Amartey took a couple of good grabs and who didn't love his "back of the net" pressure act goal.
I can start to see what role they see for Bell. It's as a forward who grabs a cheeky mark just on the back 50 metre line and fires it forward. He's done that a few times in the last couple of games.
Callum Mills is just a bull in the midfield. Such a great season.

Normally don't take any notice of the umps but for most of 3Q I was craving a free more than a goal.

I love our defence. So composed and organised. Not often you can get smashed in clearances by a top side and still win. We were able to soak huge amount defensive pressure and then our transitions were aweseome.
Makes a difference if you can win so many marking contests like we did today. Who knew Jordan Dawson was a competitve marking beast as well as a superboot? Putting him on the wing/forward and Blakey up back has been a winner. McCartin's aereial efforts were also something.

Whatever we put in the players' cornflakes before the games against top teams we ought to feed them before we play bottom sides.

I think we can go deep into September and anything’s possible.
You are right. As much as lockdown has affected our players and familys. There seems to be a plus side in our favour. The team are really bonding and they are playing as such. Thats 2weeks in a row without any first team changes. You can see the confidence rising in the whole team!!

I really like this thought bubble from Montagna

It‘s almost like John Longmire uses that halfback spot for players to build their confidence.

“Mills did a lot of it, now he‘s a permanent mid, Dawson built his game off halfback, now he’s playing more through half-forward/wing, and now it’s Nick Blakey who’s building his confidence and building his game; so who knows where his game will be in a year or so?”
