I still think the process is farcical and purely because they felt they had no other choice, and the fact it hasn't already started it a joke...

But I am happy with Dunstall chairing the review - I don't think he'd compromise his integrity by protecting people based on relationships.

Listening to SEN SA .... still suffering low production quality, but as they were cutting to adds ready for this afternoons show, you could hear Rucci talking to Dillon in the background, the comment was:

"Dunstall will eat them all alive on that panel" ....... in case he doesn't have the guts to say it when he thinks he's on air.

Pavlich isn't a bad get either. He could've done no more in his career and is respected league wide.

At least we know the players concerns will be front and centre
Gee, he's never come across as that smart off the footy field ....not a successful footy club Freo ....so what qualifications does he have ?

Would love to know if Roo and others answers to a few questions.

1. Would they leave for the betterment of the club

2. Would they be happy to be down the bottom of the ladder for a few years?

3. Have they really given Pyke everything to thrive?

Without knowing those answers, it’s hard to tell what decisions they will make.

Too may be a tough bastard but is he tough enough to make the call and sack people that aren’t good enough

Good, that's what we want.

Bloody happy Dunstall is involved.

Very experienced, highly successful, helped turn Hawthorn around, been a director, straight shooter and won’t put up with shit.

Love it

Can take it or leave it with Pav but reckon the players wouldn’t have any issues opening up to him which is a good thing

Damned if you do , damned if you don't

Some posters are just unhappy people and are only happy whinging
I'll back in our club to be playing finals in 2021 (next year will be a transformational season). There's no evidence in our history to suggest otherwise.

No doubt - despite these 2 excellent people - there’ll be more whingeing

They have been picked as independent people

Lest see what comes of it

Unfortunatly the masses aren't going to here all the findings or recommendations

They will see some results in terms outcomes but that's about it

But you wouldn't expect anything else

What makes you think we'll be top-8 without those players?
  • Jacobs only played 5 games this year, and only 3 post-bye. ROB played plenty of games, and didn't make a material difference in our ability to win.

I thought ROB was a revelation and only tired just before the last couple of games.
He did make more of a difference than you think and will poll well those games in the Club Champion Award.

Good points puppy1.5 ......you're smarter than the average dog .....I stand corrected

Doesn't really matter who they get to do the review unless things change.

Didn't Dunstall have a lot to do with Clarko getting hired at hawthorn?

He'll be top three in the B&F if you ask me

Looks like the 4 selected are top quality appointments

Imagine the bed wetting that could have been avoided if once it was announced, posters sat back and relaxed a bit !

" is acknowledged for identifying Alastair Clarkson as the right coach for the club. "

In case it's paywalled

THE few people close to Jason Dunstall say he wouldnt have it any other way.
He may be aloof and even arrogant, but his devotion to Hawthorn Football Club is beyond question.

Not many people would immediately identify Dunstall as a pillar of the organisation
Most associate the man nicknamed “Chief” and “Piggy” with ape and fat jokes for his role on Fox Footy’s Yesterday’s Heroes segment with Danny Frawley.

They also know him as a commentator whose acid tongue belies a deep understanding of the game.

But Dunstall is far more than a vaudeville act.

He was a magnificent footballer, an all-time great, and according to former Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett, an equally great administrator.

“Jason is a very private individual and there is a public Jason Dunstall,” Kennett said.

Dunstall has been Hawthorn football director since 2004, the year he was interim chief executive, and is acknowledged for identifying Alastair Clarkson as the right coach for the club.

It was a defining period of transition for the Hawks after coach Peter Schwab was sacked late in the 2004 season.

A subcommittee that included Dunstall and Dermott Brereton had interviewed Gary Ayres, Terry Wallace and Rodney Eade for the coaching position.

History has it Brereton wanted Ayres, that Mark Harvey’s mobile phone number went missing and he missed out on an interview and, in the end, the search for an experienced coach was expanded to the search for the best coach.

Two minutes into Clarkson’s presentation, Dunstall was so impressed he basically announced the club had found its man.

Together, Dunstall and Clarkson have grown to be loyal friends, tenacious servants of the club, and the backbone of the football department.
