Of course. Kelly. That was a no brainer.I’d be more inclined to say Kelly, with Wilson as the third tall.

Thanks Albert. Great to hear about Rantall. IQ could be a gun almost anywhere on the ground. Agreed Bianco looks small, and he is. But from reports his foot and hand skills are sublime. If he turns out like Daniels from the Dogs we will have a beauty!Rantall was the one I noticed most.
Did some work at the start with Quaynor where they worked on hitting a marking target inside 50.
Perhaps gave me the sense that IQ might play further afield this year.
Rantall's skills have improved and he's been working on his left foot. He's a solid size now and is obviously our best runner by some distance now.
Bianco has skill, but he looks so small and physically underdeveloped. Look at him relative to Caleb Poulter in the club's training photos.
Ruscoe was largely training on the far side of the oval from where I was sitting. He moves well.

I agree. With Grundy playing a more normal percentage of game time, when you rotate them, you wouldn't actually have all three on the ground together that often - maybe 25% of game time, so the loss of pressure is exaggerated. Rotate them and go with all 3 on the ground when you want to create mismatches.Kelly Mihocek Cox should be the combination round 1
What do you mean by McInness looking invisible in what he does? Thanks for the number changes. I attended training this morning and had trouble sorting out player numbers. McCreery is the one of the new draftees who looks most ready to play round one - moves very well for a forward, good kick at goals and applies plenty of pressure on the opposition half backs. Poulter will be a cult figure at Collingwood - one yellow boot and one pink boot and huge mullet. Very gangly but moves extremely fast for his height. He could be anything. MaCrae looks every bit a footballer and McInnes looks invisible in what he does. McMahon is an extremely good mark but very skinny. In fact all our recruits are fast movers and accurate kicks, but all except for MaCrae, Henry, McCreery and Chubb need to put on plenty of weight.

+ 2 new rookie draftees who were wearing 33 and 34 respectively. Looked like Bianco has opted for #8. First time I noticed Wilson now wearing #12.Fact
After their warm up, they split off into 3 divisional groups that contained a mixture of players from different line groups.
I'm not sure of the technical term for it, but basically it was playing keeper off, or you have to either be the defender or the attacker in a circle. They then rotatated between groups around the ground.
They also did some transiton inside 50 work. Which clearly was a real weak spot in 2020, so the more they get this right the better. There was also kick and mark stuff going on.
After each drill they then had to do some sprints in pairs. At this point, I had gone to the AAMI park side. I needed to find some shade somewhere lol Didn't help given my knees are burned and my back. Haha. Sunburn always finds me...
Selwood was showing Reef and Finlay how to outbody their opponent in a contest/stoppage.
About midway through, they sent up for a mini match sim, split into blacks and the other team was in orange. About half way through this, Reef got a cramp, he was trying to stretch it out. But think they took him to finish up, that he had done enough. I noticed most of the draftees had finished up at that point.
During this match sim, Reef was in the centre square. Took a clearance. McMahon was the kead up key forward. Rantall was everywhere playing as that inside mid, he was quite impressive.
McCreery was inducing some speed into the forward line. Kelly was looking stronger and taking some good contested marks inside 50.
I think Caleb also had some work in the middle too.
Bianco he was a bit of everywhere. Think he played at half back, maybe also on the wing. I'm not used to him being in a new number so I forgot who he was at times.
McMahon had a few contested marks which all ended in goals late in the term.
I also noticed Adams has his brace off, his elbow is just wrapped in a bandage. But he did everything, he didn't seem hampered by his arm at all, so I think his coverage is just a precaution. He was in the mix of it all nonetheless.
I thought Wilson looked good, I have a good feeling we'll see him take the next step this season. Has put on the muscle, now its more about showing what he can do.
Cameron too, I thought looked pretty good in the action. Played forward and in the ruck.
Howe and Daicos mainly did running sessions, given Daics had that hip surgery, and we all know about Howe. But Josh participated in some drills. I don't think there is anything there to be concerned about.
After that was completed, a few did some goal kicking. McMahon, Kelly, Mihochek, some smalls as well. It was hard to totally see the numbers from where I was sitting on the hill. I really hate that barrier fence lol
All in all, a very solid session.
I came away with it impressed by certain players. I have a good feeling about this crop of draftees. Plus rantall.
There definitely will ge some hot competition for spots come round 1, that's for sure.
What I also did enjoy, was how vocal these draftees were. Reef started barking orders to the senior players to kick in specific directions to where he wants them to be.
He and and a few others kept asking questions from the staff about things they wanted more clarity on position wise. It was very encouraging to see things like this from 18 year olds.
One more thing: If we can play like this in games in 2021, the way they were playing in this mini match sim, that would be really nice. No long bombs, unless they knew Kelly or McMahon was up there to take a contested mark. There was short, kick and mark. Ball movement was fast. From the middle, it was no messing about, they kicked toward the forward line.
I''ve got some pictures and videos I'll put up soon.
I feel like it was defence. Which is odd. Pretty sure he was up against Kelly at some point. Thanks Jen.
Where did Wilson line up in match sim?
Good news about Rantall as well.

Unlike Poulter he has no facets to his game that stands out. Not an outstanding kick. He doesn't dye his hair. Doesn't wear colored boots. What he does do is moves like silk. Always seems to be around where the ball is. Expect him to be playing in the middle of the ground when he gets fit and puts weight on. Obvious heir to Pendlebury when Pendlebury retires. What do you mean by McInness looking invisible in what he does?
I feel like it was defence. Which is odd. Pretty sure he was up against Kelly at some point.
Well that’s better than what I thought you meant, which is that he just went missing!Unlike Poulter he has no facets to his game that stands out. Not an outstanding kick. He doesn't dye his hair. He doesn't go missing. He was getting plenty of the ball in the match sims. He just blends into the general play. By that I meant he's largely invisible. By contrast you notice Oliver Henry a lot more who I didn't think got any of the ball.Well that’s better than what I thought you meant, which is that he just went missing!
No, it'll be Wednesday before they are back out on the ground. Maybe weights tomorrow I'd expect.Great read Jen, as always.
Are they likely to be on the track again tomorrow? Or not till Wednesday? Got the morning off tomorrow, might go for a look if the players will be on the track again

Agreed. Its no mere coincidence he is usually lining up against pendles in drills.Unlike Poulter he has no facets to his game that stands out. Not an outstanding kick. He doesn't dye his hair. Thing about next year is that we need the likes of Sier, Daicos, Keane, T Brown, Wilson , Murphy, Noble & IQ to take the next step given the changes & injection of young kids. Still think Kelly, Bianco & Rantall a year or two away. Need a good run with injuries as well!

I think Kelly will play regular senior footy next year. As Bucks said tonight at the forum, Kelly would have played 8 to 10 games this year, if he hadn't got injured.
I also think Rantall will get a bit of senior footy as well.
