Soto can thank that the Nationals had an injury crisis in 2018 so were forced to promote him from the minor leagues when he was only 19. He wasn't to come up until after Bryce Harper left. Instead he raked from day 1 and never played in AAA.

That injury crisis probably earned him (and his agent Scott Boras) 2 extra years at least.

‘Murica.

If that was an attack on a regular citizen, it would have been a stern talking to and probation from the same judge. But attack a judge and it’s 26 years. Weird.

Wait what? How did he get 26 years in prison for what was probably just an assault charge?

That's insane.

Saw Lebron lose by like 40 the other day and after the game he's all smiles and doing made up handshakes with Kevin Love after the game and giving Adebayo a hug and shit. Like bro, they just handed you your ass and you're all mates about it.
People say this about footy too and I find it to be some of the worst codswallop going around. IMO its just stupid nonsense fans get upset over but means SFA.

Could have been his 3rd felony charge which would increase the penalty under Three Strikes laws.

Nah there has to be some competitive fire there.

A hard fought close game, handshakes afterwards, that's fine. It was a challenge and there is respect from both sides. But if your team gets blown out by 40 points or in footy loses by like 100 points and you're laughing after the game with opposition players.

It's shit IMO. Gotta have some competitive drive there...

That does actually make more sense now.

Also, posted it in the wrong thread. Off topic was where that was supposed to go. :(

Guy cuts you off in the car park, then again at the self serve checkout, and lastly again at the lights. You honk your horn, flap your arms and yell profanity at the man.

Do you go home and continue to scream at your wife? Or do you ask her how her day was as you give her a kiss?

My thoughts summed up by Federer:

"When it's behind you, it's behind you". A parable for life.
Once the final buzzer goes the result cannot be changed. As I said, it's a phenomenon that seems to only upset fans and I think it's rather pointless

But it doesnt.

If you lose by 40 points then something is wrong with the system or coaching and one loss can turn into two or three or a 10 game losing streak. Then you're missing the playoffs. Then you cant win a championship.

If you're competing to make friends and have fun and have a laugh. Then great.

But the GOAT's are built different, they are not there for fun.

That what separates the Michael Jordans from the Ben Simmons' of this world.

I love that Jod thinks he knows more about what drives the highest level athletes than LeBron.
You dont need to be a top level athlete to understand competitive drive. There are plenty of top level athletes with zero competitive drive.

Competitive drive has nothing to do with how athletic or good you are at sport.

29/30 teams don't win a championship each season. So not sure what exactly is the point.
They're probably losing (currently 1 win less than Pacific division leaders btw) because of a combination of skill set, execution, decision making and tactics. Smiling post-game is irrelevant.

No. I'd say a chasm in talent separates the two.
Not a post-game smile.

If only he didn't have a post-game chat with Tex. He'd be a 10 time AA player and multiple brownlow medallist... Instead of just the 8 and 1.

Smiling and joking post-game isn't what has seen Lebron swept 3 times in playoffs and it also isn't relevant to the 41/54 playoff series wins.

It's irrelevant pish.

LeBron has next level talent paired with an incredibly athletic body. It's his mentality that lets him down time and time again.

The let's all be friends stuff plays a part in that.

We're not changing each others minds though so let's move on.

Here we go Jodly. Case in point.

Clip of Slotterbeck defending this week. Fired up and fist pumping when he makes good tackles. No laughing or smiling here. Elite mentality....

Barca goal 1. Sucked in by ball carrier releasing Raphinha. Ball out the back to Raphinha who scores.

What are you actually talking about? What has fist pumping and celebrating a tackle got to do with anything haha.

You need a lie down mate.

Pretty obvious I'd have thought. How you carry on in game is far less important to how you perform. And completely irrelevant before and after.

You speak about elite mentality when referring to Lebron post-game. Are you aware of Lionel Messi pre-game??
There's the story about how the manager is giving the pre-game talk, there's mere minutes before going out to play and while the coach is explaining tactics and firing up the team Messi is sitting there facetiming his family.

Looks like we just disagree.
