Your best bet might be to search for our "Crows in the SANFL" threads, which appear each week.

From memory he's been doing OK. Since recovering from his early season total form/confidence collapse he's returned to the Maric of old. The only reason he's not in the senior team right now is "balance" - the sub rule has effectively done away with the 2nd ruck and with Jacobs & Tippett in the side there's just no room for Maric. He hasn't done anything wrong, there's just no room for him in the senior team.

I have seen Maric play but never really looked at him closely.

What kind of ruckman is he? Good tap ruckman?

Can he go forward and can he get the pill around the ground?

Thanks

I really hope we don't get rid of Maric. I love the guy to death, and he's a very valuable backup to Jacobs. What if next year, round 1, Tippy does another ankle, and Jacobs pops a shoulder out. Maric would be worth his weight in gold then, next to Moran and Sellar.

Maric is behind Jacobs and Tippett. At Richmond, I'd think he'd be behind Graham and Vickery.

Thanks Vader.

For the record Graham is a horrible tap ruckman and for a guy that big is very very soft. Have never seen him put a tap out into space and one of our mids run onto it. Always at their feet or to the opposition.

If Maric can HO to advantage then he is a big upgrade and maybe just the warrior we need.

While we're on the subject of a ruckman's true worth, though Jacobs has huge potential and wins heaps of taps how many are actually to the team's advantage????
I've watched him closely and far too many of his winning taps are straight down the throat of the opposition, when it comes to actual taps to the teams advantage Ivan would come out on top if compared to Sauce IMO. I believe we must keep Ivan if it is at all possible, far more valuable to the AFC than we could get in compensation if he was to go elsewhere!!!

Bicks I have been saying that for a while. Proof we need a new ruck coach and midfield coach? ;)

He doesn't win a huge number of hitouts, but a (relatively) high proportion of those he does win are directed towards his teammates. In this sense, he's almost the anti-Jacobs. Jacobs wins a mountain of hitouts, but seems to be colourblind - in that 70% of his hitouts are palmed directly onto the chest of an opposition player.

One thing you'll love about Maric is his heart. He gives his all, every single time. He may not be the most talented footballer out there, but you'll go a long way to find one with a bigger heart.

Think everyone is being a bit harsh on Jacobs with his hitouts to advantage.

Was listening to patty dangerfield after the Richmond game and this issue was brought up. They felt it was more of when the opposition midfield changes its set up at a bounce the crows seem to keep with their planned setup regardless and are unable to adapt quickly enough hence our midfielders are out of position a lot of the time.

Give Jacobs a full pre-season with our midfield and I dare say you will see a huge improvement next year.

Issues with Jacobs ruck effectiveness related to our poor midfield coaching.

Maric ho's to advatage are usually long whacks that land in our lap somewhere. Jacob's taps are beautiful to watch until you see flat footed mids being pushed of their line.

If Maric goes to Richmond I vote that an Adelaide official rings the MRP chairman and lodges a trumped up sling tackle charge.:D

Screw us being "soft dobbers", after the teary the toothless tigers supporters have thrown today, I doubt the crazy Croat would go anywhere near the place.

My quote of the night... Thanks Dusty Cotch for displaying your stupidity...

"3.We need to make the Sooky Dibber Dobbers pay with the Maric deal.Is he contracted ?
If not let's force him into the pre season draft so they get jack for him. They would already be filthy knowing we stitched them up over the Tambling trade."

Is this going to be Sauce mk2 trade thread...replace stupid Carlton posters with stupid Richmond ones:p

I don't think Jacobs' hitouts-to-advantage is that bad. It's not great, but it's not diabolical. It just isn't as good as the other aspects of his game.
jacobs taps to advantage are 14% of the ruck contests he has participated in and he wins 36% OF THE TAPS

Angus Graham wins 32% of his contested & wins 17%

Maric this year is worse than both the above mentioned players
