I hope you enjoyed that and I mean really, really, really enjoyed that because I know I did and if you say you did well all I can say is "Pigs Arse"

Other than winning the 05 Grand Final, beating the VERY club that made the attempt to put the Swans out of business in October 1992 in a Final in the way we did it, THAT goes down as the second best feeling I have got out of following Football.

17 years and counting:D

Exactly Robbie, this is the one club that really should be reserved the wrath. Rhys-Jones, Bernie Evans and still they wanted more.

FV<king vultures!

John Elliott was the President of Carlton in 1992 when he approached the AFL with the VERY nice offer that instead of having the Swans play in the AFL at all, we should fold and Carlton out of the goodness of their heart would play ALL their away matches in Sydney to provide a market presence and would get to pick up our players and sponsors. But for us Swans fans we would of been given a Red Spot on the away shorts as a mark to the history of the Swans:rolleyes:

Needless to say once our owners heard of the plan they leaked it to Allan McAllister the President of Collingwood knowing he would not allow Carlton to get a unfair advantage over them and talked the other clubs around into allowing us to have our licence fee re-directed. So come the vote in Oct 1992 on Carlton's plan it was defeated 12-2 (Carlton and North voted for it, we weren't allowed to vote) and we survived and my hate has been there ever since.

The irony is that Carlton has only won once in Sydney since that vote and that was in 1993. Karma is a very bad thing. Elliott was voted out as President for allowing the Salary Cap breeches to happen in 2002, went broke soon after, and Carlton are a shell of a club that they use to be.

Heck they can't even beat the Swans in a Final.:D

Now thats a big Screw You to John Elliot

Thank you for enlightening us younger swan supporters. This adds some icing on top of the very big cake that was Sydney's win.

The hatred of Carlton can be traced way back to The 1945 Bloodbath Grandfinal. My father attended that game when he was twelve, the hatred has been passed down through the generations, growing stronger each decade with there pinching our players all the time and of course Mr Elliot trying to close us down, Norf are also hated for being part of the yes vote.

My grandfather attended that particular game.

Which other teams voted for the swans to be kicked out of curiousity? I will put them on my eternal hate list.

Dad told me that Richmond were one of the only teams that voted to keep the swans in existence back in the dark days. This is one of the reasons why I'll probably always have a soft spot for the tigers.

Carlton and North voted for us to fold and for Carlton to play their away games in Sydney.

Collingwood led the charge against it and got 13 other clubs on their side which saved us. So we have to thank them for saving us in October 1992. Richmond played no part in it other than voting along with Collingwood rather than Carlton like North did (though North we part owned by Carlton at the time, hence their decision)

That fits perfectly with my viewpoint, the two clubs i hate more than anything else, i would let aliens destroy earth if it meant NM suffer.

'i love richmond for standing up for us during the dark days, hope they win a granny before carlscum.

Generous John was also quite willing to emblazen smfc across the back of the players jumpers on all the away games, what a guy. Though on balance it must also be said in a much smaller text. Still, I am quite sure his intensions were honourable, just like all his other efforts in footy...

My dad was at that game too, as far as I am concerned Carlton are the closest thing we have to a 'traditional' rival. Col Kinnear came to Sydney on a year long recruiting drive and Elliot certainly tried to extinguish us. I have to say I thought Carlton were pretty brave today but geez that victory was sweet.

never had heard about this story..........carlton are seriously unbelievable. my hatred for those cheating dogs has grown even more

Thanks be to the Collingwood Football Club and its self interest which aligned nicely with Sydney's. When I first heard of the plan though, I hoped to God we would do something about it. If there is one thing you can count on Collingwood doing, it is being extremely vocal and usually getting their way. In this case, it seriously helped you guys.

Thanks for the win today, made it a great weekend!

Our clubs' affiliation runs deep. The banter between Colless and Eddie is just good old fashion showmanship. What happened in 1992 will never be forgotten by our supporters. All Sydney supporters should share this story. Carlton and North - may you sleep uneasy forever more when you see SMFC/SFC next on the fixture, cause we will never forget.

Congrats again mate, but its unfair to tar us all with Elliots big fat ass.
Good luck for the rst of the finals!!

You people are all saying this like you need a reason to hate Carlton.
They exist. That is enough.

and Im sure John Elliot is sitting at home on the internet reading the shit that you muppets type
Well given he's not allowed to be involved in any business & no-one in footy or politics would touch him with a 10-foot pole, he probably does have a fair bit of spare time on his hands.
Are you one of the 43 people who tune into his community TV show???

My great grandfather actually died of a heart attack at a Carlton - Swans game in the final moments of a very tight encounter. Passed away with about 5 mins to go and we got up for him.

It's hard to 'hate' the club in it's current form for the mistakes of it's past administration but yeah... F U Elliot, you fat, corrupt pig.
