Redden said that his game is based on endurance and strength .
No preseason = No endurance
Hernia op = no strength
he also had a shoulder injury
exactly.
That's not good enough for me. He was selected, so he was deemed fit and should have performed much better than he did.
correct that he should have been better but after both surgeries and minimal preseason, i had my expectations of him really low. His form early season was much better than his form at the end of the year and i attribute that to the minimal preseason he had as he had a low fitness base. It was the same thing that happened to darling a year before.

Oh, I had my expectations low as well.

He still managed to miss them by 1000 miles.

Adamson had a better season and gets delisted.

If they let him go home every week it says alot about the soft underbelly of that club
That may be the case but if he's at a club that tolerates his request to go to New Zealand regularly why would he come to a club that won't

Makes it hard to entice him if we're going to refuse him special conditions he already has

I know what your saying.

But i can't see them letting him go to NZ every week

I'm trying very hard not to think about how much we offered Redden to lure him over so he could play for East Perth.
I was a fan of getting in Redden, but he had a very poor year. There is no hiding from that. I would hope that come the end of his contract (2017?) if he is not entrenched in the best 22 then he is moved on. We can't be paying big money for a bloke to play in the 2's.

i think there was other things going on with adamson and his delisting. i kinda wanted him to play as well.

I think we should avoid getting anyone else from Brisbane. He's not that great anyway

He's inconsistent but his best is brilliant, if he was consistent then he wouldn't even be in the conversation. At a better club, with better facilities, coaches, teammates etc.. he could be something special.

#6 Willem DrewCrashed in hard with 24 disposals (16 contested) and laid nine tackles. Was the Rebels’ best player, but needs to ensure he doesn’t just get the ball from the stoppage and bomb it forward. Drew cleared the ball on 12 occasions (including five centre bounce clearances), the most by anyone today.
#6 Willem Drew – Another hard working effort from Drew. Consistently won the hardball and put his body on the line with no regard for his own safety. Not the cleanest user of the ball, but you can never question his intensity and bravery.

found these scouts notes of drew and sounds like a perfect priddis replacement and some of the highlighted stuff really excite me. Other than Priddis and Shuey we don't really have many on the list that do that on a consistent basis ( maybe redden?). At 188cm he will fill out nicely as well. He does have a few flaws but i don't mind him spending a year at wafl working on his kicking and decsion making.

he seems to be a bit of a stretch at pick 12 but maybe trading down or trading emac might ensure we get a a high/mid second rounder to grab him.

It's funny that everyone on this board is stating our midfielders need speed! Did you all forget what happens the last time one of our midfielders took speed!
I think I'd take 3 years of serious disappointment for a 2 more brownlows and a flag. I want a premiership.

Not sure the right thread for this but can someone have a word to Scotty Lycett about his Twitter account? He's still got that 'find sexy girls near you' spam on there from 3 months ago.
Scotty's appetite is never-ending.

Unrealistic targets:

Martin - we had a chance to have crack and turned it down because of club misgivings, Dusty kept improving and now would cost more than WC could offer.

Hanley - no reason to think he is leaving, but if he is, he fills a need. His best is nearly AA level, however there is no evidence he wants out of Brisbane.

Hogan - sometimes you trade for need, sometimes players simply offer too much for a club to ignore. I would like an A grade mid, but if Hogan was our target I would be equally as pumped. A long term replacement for JK, he has all the tools. Still, he is expensive and Melbourne may not be willing to deal.

Lobb - would cost similar to Hogan, because he is a hyped target.

Gun Port mid - they are willing to trade, but I bet it isn't any of their top line talent.

Role players who could fill a need:

Cam Ellis-Yolman - looked a gun but has tapered off. Not sure if Adelaide are willing to trade, but his inability to stay in the side might mean he could be open to a trade. Downside is, whilst he would probably be cheap, we struggle at getting value from underperforming mids.

Ah-Chee - has shown glimpses of pace and skill, but could be a less productive Yeo.

Minson - could be a handy get, but doubt he would leave Melbourne.

Ballantyne - won't fix our lack of ground level talent, though he does ok with the chasing and harrassing. What is better 10 touches and a goal from Hill, or Ballantyne? Hill is more skillful, plus maybe a youngster like Partington could do some damage.

Minson

RE: Martin/NZ. I'm sure I read an article mid year that stated he gets the ok to go to NZ every few weeks or more often if there is a family drama. I don't believe it's every week.

RE: Minson. Probably a good pickup if we want to relive McGinners sledge a few years back.

Youve been quoting the Hawks model; when Buddy and Roughhead were both there, they both rotated through FF and the guts.I agree with your sentiments on the midfield, i think all of us are as one on that.

We tried with JD and he was out of his depth wrt midfield involvement. I just hope we get two very experienced assistant coaches to help with our midfield and overall development of our young mids, additionally, a swallow to make our summer.
