Whilst everybody is thinking Bolton is just about a done deal to fremantle there could be a spanner in the works and may not be as 100% as people may think. Would not surprise me at all if there is a last minute twist to this

  • Most players apart from Baker , Bolton have actually asked for a trade to a particular club similar to Macrae , Rioli when they know the new club can get the deal done like freo
  • Baker we know is just waiting to know who the new coach is and similar to Graham - But why is Bolton waiting ?
  • Twomey asked Matty Clarke about Baker/Bolton and he was very vague and didnt dismiss Bolton
  • Eagles could come in late with a massive offer last minute now they have off loaded Farling & Barrass as well as a few more they could easily offer $1.5 mil x 7 year deal and wipe fremantle's offer out and Bolton could easily flip for that cash
  • If Mcquarter gets the eagles job he would 100% want Bolton , Baker & Graham at the eagles i have no doubt

Could be more to play out in this if Mini gets the gig

I just think Bolton is doing us a solid by not cornering the market.

Pick 3 for Bolton then

Have pick 1, 3 and 6 in the draft at least

Get FOS, Smith, Lalor, midfield set with Hopper, Taranto, Macaullife still around as bigger bodies.

Reluctant to take like 10 kids this year,

Take 5-6 this year and 5-6 next year, better balance.
I agree in theory. Only if next years draft is looking as strong as this years? I personally know nothing of next years draft. If this years is much stronger you’d surely take more from this year’s wouldn’t you?

The Pies will be absolute dog sh*te from 2026 onwards… maybe even next year.

Not only will they be without Sidey, Pendles, Howe, Mitchell. Mihocek, Cox and Elliott beyond 2026, here is their list of quality players under 25yo when 2025 season kicks off:

Nick Daicos.

I kid you not … here is the list of other players under 25yo in March 2025:

Bytel
McReery
Dean
Macrae
Parker
Begg
Eyre
McInnes
Long
Steene
Harrison
Allan
Ryan
Jiath
Smit
Demattia

Other than McReery and Naicos, not one of them has played 30+ games - 6 have played 15+ games. AND they don’t have their first round draft pick this draft. Their list is in massive trouble for the future.

For our under 25yo cohort 6 have played 30+ games, and 14 have played 15+.

So we are miles ahead in youth development and will have a draft hand for the ages in 2024.

2025 will be a tough ride, but unlike the Pies our future looks super bright.

I like your optimism regarding the position of RFC list & future!!

Smillie has had a better year and doesn't have soft tissue history

I also thing Langford is ahead of lalor as well
Kid will look an absolute beast! If it clicks for him a potential very high ceiling….Smillie that is.

Konstanty still waiting to hear whether he will get a new deal at Sydney. Pick 20 in the 2022 draft, small forward who we were quite keen on at the time by all accounts. Would be a good cheap/free pick up imo.
Sydney not extending a top twenty pick beyond their initial two year contract has to have some big alarm bells ringing surely

Sydney are no mugs

The 5-6 is an example, it could be a 7-4 or 7-5 split, but the point is we're better off balancing with a bit of spread in our first rounders rather than lumping it all on this draft and having like 10 players or nearly a quarter of the list as first year players.

Even one year of experience the draftees this year will be able to share insights and support to those next year, it's just better for ongoing development and the age profile, and you get the benefit of another year to look at players knowing we will have multiple future good picks.

Jay Clark is a scat fan who sucks off the Pies any chance he gets. Weird campaigner
remember when he said pendles was better than dusty ?

Why? Getting him makes no sense when we need to get as many games into 3 of Jagga, FOS, Lalor, Draper, Reid, Smilie etc. (and McAuliffe).

And don't say experience because we have that already with Taranto, Hopper, Ross, Prestia.

You have to be careful with the first year players. Our expectations shouldn’t be more than 10-15 games in their first year. They will also likely play a mix of wing, half forward/half back and on-ball. Their performance should really dictate whether they get AFL games and whether they get a lot of on-ball minutes - not our needs.

If we lose two or more of those senior guys to injury we’ll almost be forced to throw the young guys on-ball for full games. This may not be great on their development and if they don’t perform our results could get very ugly.

Peatling would be a really good pick up at the right price as he is quick and versatile. He is also young enough to be around for our next period of success. A much better back-up option than someone like Dow.

Big revelation mate

The Mid week tackle. FMD what a collection of the minds. The dumbest most damaged minds I'm talkin' about. Morons. The lady is the one one with a brain.

Looks like these AFL plant simpletons are trying to do everything to trade away our picks from Bolton and Rioli.

Let's run through a few of the 'doozies' from the Mensa candidates.

Firstly pick 12 from GC to Collingwood for Noble, which then goes to Port for Houston. They mentioned that Pies would have to package up other picks... no shit sherlock!, what picks. Sounded like a desperate Pies fan that fat carnt.

Bailey Smith to Geelong for pick 20. lol keep dreaming dickheads.

Then the fat bloke, or should I say the other one, reckons North offer a future first to Freo and get pick 10 or 17. North to get Houston.

How f***in dumb are these carnts.

It's like these simpletons are just throwing as much shit against the wall, hoping that something sticks.

I mean there's silly season and then there's f***g stupid season.

Are these morons paid by the word? Ridiculous.
we should be packaging more to ensure we get pick 12

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying I just don’t know anything of next years draft. If this years is better then this years is where many/most of our picks need to be made. I’ll leave it up to our recruiting team to make the calls on next years potential picks etc

If we sell the farm for Pick 2 or 3, or both, we have lost our minds.
We have suffered to gain pick 1. We have lost our top talent and about to lose what's left (Baker/Rioli/Bolton).

There doesn't seem to be much difference between pick 1-6 and some bolters may even come in.
We need as many picks between 1 and 17 as we can get.

It's much better to have 1,6,9,10,14,17,21 and trade a few into next year...

THEN

1,2,3, 65
or
1,3, 21, 70

It's also a gamble. I can guarantee that if we have 6 or 7 picks in top 20, that we are more likely to have more better players overall, even if some of them are solid B+ players, learning a new system.

What if pick 2 and/or 3 were flops. It would be another Deledio, Tambling scenario..

We SIMPLY CANNOT throw all our eggs in one basket for 1 player when it is currently unknown. How they turn out will be a different story. All draftees look 'good' at this stage. And even still I even have doubts on some of them from what I have seen.

That's a straw man though, because that's not what it would be.
