nope, anyone not stooping that low should be sober.

SDK can play, but he hardly moves the needle, may as well keep on keeping on at the Cats. Mo way they could sucker me into a trade.

As if he is the next Rance, lol

I keep writing it, the focus is premierships, not no mans land
You quoting my post but posting about SDK

I never posted a word about him

go have a lay down ill call a doctor

They actually discussed this Holmes draft a week ago and the boys on fox were discussing how no other club drafted him.
And what they said was Holmes actually only played 2 games in 2 years during the covid years and both games were in the geelong area and the cats had watched him for years due to some connection.

They took the chance on his running and athletic ability more than his footballing ability

Exactly. And the best recruiters can project the players whilst others can’t.

If recruiting was simple you’d just take Twomeys phantom draft and pick next best player. You have to forecast talent and that’s why Wells is the best in the league.

This draft is vital Toce can do the same

His manager always thought he was a best 22 player

Higgo was in and out of the team in 2020 as expected following brain surgery and lack of pre season etc.

His manager thought his client was being mistreated, manager seeks opportunities elsewhere, saints show interest

Manager gets a great a deal for his client & himself, convinces Jack this is the right move for him and seeks trade

Club screws itself in trade giving up Jack + 20? for 17 or so

It was a terrible trade by us. Gave him away.

All eyes on Blair to not do the same for Rioli, Baker and Bolton. I don’t think Tiger fans will be as forgiving this time.
That's not even close to the deal ya silly campaigners.
Honestly after tonight’s Brownlow medal count we need to get Langford and Smillie. If you are a tall mid you will just get given votes now.
WGAF about brownlow votes?

Wells rd 1 draft picks from 2008 onwards:

2008 Mitch Brown 15
2009 D Menzel 17
2010 B Smedts 15
2011 no rd 1 pick, first pick J Hamling 32
2012 Jackson Thurlow 16
2013 Darcy Lang 16
2014 N Cockatoo 10
2015 No pick in first 3 rounds
2016 No rd 1 pick, B Parrfitt 26 their first pick
2017 "" "" L Fogarty pick 22 first pick
2018 Jordan Clarke pick 15
2019 Cooper Stephens pick 16, S Dekoning pick 19
2020 Holmes pick 20
2021 No rd 1 pick, Conway 24, Knevitt 25, Willis 32 their rd 2 picks
2022 Jhye Clark pick 8
2023 O'Sullivan pick 11

So how smart did he look picking Parfitt 26 over Bolton 29? And so on and so on. If you think he is the best recruiter(imo he is good) explain what was going on with all these rd 1 and first pick failures.

Here is a list of just his first picked player in every draft 2008 onwards:

Brown, Menzel, Smedts, Hamling, Thurlow, Lang, Cockatoo, Gardner, Parfitt, L Fogarty, Jordan Clark, Stephens, Holmes, Conway, Jhye Clark, O'Sullivan.

Out of his 16 first picked players they would so far be happy with the outcome in about 2 of those players, and one of them(Jordan Clarke) is now playing for Fremantle. So he was entitled to guess one right after all that time.

Wells' best work with early picks was done prior to 2008, a long time ago.

We essentially got the Tom Brown pick from the Higgins trade.

We gave up Higgins and pick 26 in the really weak 2020 draft.

We got back pick 17 in the 2020 draft plus Saints future rd 2, which ended at pick 30.

We swapped 17(which slid to 20) to the Cats for their F1 - which was pick 17 in the stornger 2021 draft. The Cats took Holmes with that pick, we took Tom Brown with their 2021 rd 1 pick. We used pick in the 2021 draft on Jud Clark.

So in summary we gave up Higgins and pick 26(2020) for ultimately pick 17 & 30 in the 2021 draft. Which essentially means we got roughly the value of pick 17 for Higgins.

So we gave up Higgins to draft a worse player in Brown vs Holmes, as well as get a worse player than Jack Higgins.

To be clearer

Higgins>>> J.Clarke
Holmes>>>>>>>>>T.Brown

0/2. So what are we applauding here? Intent?

We gave up Higgins and pick 26 in the 2020 draft(Matt Allison.) The players we ended up with from this were Brown and Clarke. Right now, your best case scenario is the jury is still out. Your worst case scenario is we gave up a non life threatening small forward and a middling pick in a weak draft and got 2 nice looking prospects out of it. Talking about Holmes is a total red herring. Trading the pick with which he was drafted in between doesn't alter the equation of what we gave up and what we ended up with. That's just a good or lucky piece of recruiting by Geelong, nothing to do with our start and end points from these trades.

ah yes, we can't include Max Holmes as a name, as who knows who we would have picked! However, when the pick flames out, yes - that is the proof i require to show the club..... would also have been big dum-dums and recruited the same player who turned out to be total shit.

Please keep telling me how the moves we have made that lead to us having the worst season in our history were all actually home runs, even though the players we lost all continue to play solid AFL games while we give games to KMac, Dow, Ryan?

Relax hindsight is a wonderful and short sighted at this current stage

Brown and Clarke both had numerous injuries so far, is that our recruiters fault?

Believe they both will be guns and excel at Richmond

You’re a clown 🤡

Garbage post. Richmond had not spoken to Holmes. Your hindsight is top class.

Another fatal error from the club - not recognizing a elite talent like Holmes was sitting there in the draft & we hadn't even considered him. Another Rubbish "non decision" by the club.

I love it when people act like a pick we "missed" doesn't count as we were apparently too inept to pick the best players in the draft.

actually we do not want votes, we want premierships
if we are on our way to a premiership
we'll have more players with Browlow votes and one or two somewhere near the top of the leaderboard , think Cotch & Dusty and think of the top 4 sides in most years have a mid are around the top of the brownlow count
and you get more players in the All Australian squad ... did the Cats have something ridiculous like 7 or 8 in 2009 ?

the common denominator is class and hopefully this years draft and next years can deliver some for us
