Oh okay yeah that's not correct. Our current rookie list consists of Stack, Pickett, Aarts, Miller, Egg, Mansell and Parker with Mate as a Cat B.

We actually already have one too many for next year, so at least one of them has to be elevated or delisted. Egg is clearly out the door so that should be easy.

He's absolutely the best key defender outside the AFL at the moment, great size and strength with really good reach and great reading of the play. For all the flak the Cats get, they usually persist more with these types of players and if they don't work out after a long while, that's when they get rid of them. It's that 12 other teams have interest in him too. Clearly more strings to his bow than Miller, which isn't necessarily a knock on the latter given he just does what he does, but Schlensog has high potential.

From the handful of VFL games I caught, Miller looks to have good potential too... Good size, seemed solid enough defensively, and really showed some solid attacking/rebounding flair as well. Maybe we passed on Schlensog because we felt we had something similar on the list already in Miller? Haven't seen anything of his WAFL games, so hard to know how they'd compare.

Looking back now, yes hindsight is great but what a waste of a list spot on Egg-Smith; and also Naish lukewarm development probably could be expected. I know it’s early days but sometimes wonder whether the father son angle actually makes us overvalue players we might otherwise have taken lower or passed over. Richo being the exception 😊

Egg was a shit signing at the time and most of us here were of that view.

Always thought we should've kept that spot open for the MSD. We probably would have taken Nathan Freeman with the pick I think or maybe the Schlong.

dylan stephens the pick 5 from 2019 from Sydney up for grabs due to salary pressure. Could be a buy low option at only 20

I know nothing about the Swans players at all but they are naming a lot more than Stephens as being potentially available. Names like George Hewett, Sam Reid, Jordan Dawson and others are still unsigned in Callum Sinclair, Colin O'Riordan, Ben Ronke, Hayden McLean and Robbie Fox.

None of these jump out at me but I am sure others that are better qualified on here will have a better idea if any are worth chasing.

Of that lot Hewett Dawson and Stephens are worth asking about.

I’d be going for Dawson 100% if possible

Think Dawson is the one they're taking off the table. They're happy to let Hewett and Stephens go in the same way they let Allir go last year, and Mumford a few years back. All are collateral damage from the Buddy deal.

Huge long term deals are potentially major problems. We've got Dusty, and to a lesser extent Tom. But Tom has pretty much got us 2 premierships, adn Dusty 3, so we've already won those deals.

Reckon the Pies and Giants are also in a world of pain. If we can't get someone this year a really solid younger player will shake free from someone given these clubs in cap problems.

Yep, has been reported that Dawson will stay on a 2 year deal knocking back an offer from Port. Hewett in my opinion just a role player type, stephens however could be worth a look, was likened to gaff in his draft
