Agree with you... think he's gone.Without any mail on this at all, I wouldn't be surprised if Pickett requests a trade back to WA. He's clearly had some family struggles this year (his business, that's all we need to know), and with us being on the hunt for a wingman I think he might be leaving us.
Your account been hacked?? This sort of makes sense...I think we need to go hard to the draft.
Not even sure about trading next years first. That could be a mistake. Not a Collingwood mistake but could be a midtake.
I think with the changing climate and a lot of unknowns we need to attack the draft.
2022 could be a mystery still in terms of outside events.
I think go hard in this draft including getting Bulldogs first and see how the youngsters develop is the best option.
Emphasis must be on youth
“A proper rebuild takes 10 years if not longer”A proper rebuild takes ten years if not longer.
That obviously does not suit RFC which is fair enough, other clubs that need to talk about full rebuilds typically delude themselves and fans by shortening the timetable. RFC is different because the youth already on the list and superstar elder statesmen
What RFC might do is a cheat rebuild.
To do a cheat rebuild requires heavy hitting of the draft and a relatively short trough with a massive upsurge at the back end so the U becomes a practical V in terms of optics over time.
Obviously the emphasis is on the draft and youth and then a switch at the back end to maximise talent and list build prior to the next premiership in the short to mid term with massive upside surge which is all about timing. It is a fluid situation. RFC can predominantly hit the draft this year with emphasis on youth and reassess based on the environment with co-vid etc.. as well as development and prospective talent. Bit like the situation the Warriors are in in the NBA but the AFL is largely different because the teams contain far greater numbers on field in terms of list management. With the Warriors they could get Simmons but figured its probably not worth it at the margin because of the talent of other teams like Brooklyn, lakers etc.. The Warriors will see what happens next season and then might target trades later on as the life cycles of other clubs like Brooklyn and Lakers etc.. alter and player movement commences again as expectations changes for each player as well as clubs providing new superior options to create list upside over the journey.
Other clubs do not have RFC's list flexibility. So depending in the situation RFC can cherry pick timetables based on talent available and the development achieved from the new recruits. Its all about getting maximum bang for buck in terms of maximising opportunity to win as many premierships as possible over a reasonable time frame. Nothing is in a vacuum so when RFC is doing the hard yards other clubs are losing out by not putting the development in.
What we do know is Hawks are going into recognised rebuild. We know North are doing it and we know Geelong is just a matter of time. Two years max is what Geelong can do surely before they fall off a cliff and its debatable they can get silverware before then anyway. Bulldogs have a real imabalanced list in terms of mids versus backs and forwards. So change must take place at some point which RFC can take advantage of with a fleible list with short and mid-term promise that is not falling off a cliff like Geelong. Other teams are in no-mans land and have structural problems so RFC can be patient and really be smart and astute by being select in how they recruit talent to maximise talent development and acquisition for premiership production
My mail has shifted. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we had talks with Hopper's mamagement about bringing him in. With Kelly's new deal, we believe he is much more gettable now and have shifted our focus from Dunstan to chase Hopper hard.
As of right now, Hopper is our mumber 1 midfield target
My gut feel is that Hopper would be a fool to stay. Obviously we won't be able to pay him as much as other clubs who will chase him might. My gut feel is we are in with a real chance but we probably won't land him, unfortunately.
Tom Mitchell what ya thoughts?

Carlton : hold my beer
Agree on ccj and chol, we already have a bit of a hole down back which we're struggling to fill, if jack retires end of next year without those two we're going to be absolutely buggered for KPPs. Makes no sense to lose both, if the reason they want to leave is money/opportunity surely we can just make a much more attractive offer to one of themCcj and chol both going- that would be a debacle. Jack not retiring could leave us a a horrible situation.
No to Wallis- he’s a squib and a big one, don’t know how he’s a inside mid.
Not keen on Hopper. What’s the point? He’s 25 in Feb. Would rather bring in players under 22 or just hit the draft.

That’s 2 years at close to a million for Marlion- factDidn't know this was the NBA/NFL/EPL!
But yes he is on decent coin. Probably not $900,000 though.
Personally I'd take Hopper. He brings a bit more than good skills like Green. But Green is a four years younger.
Cats first?
CCJ and a second/late first rounder would probably do. GWS need a ruck with a bit more prowess than Flynn and Briggs.
We’re done IMO. We just lost a key defender, an AA quality HBF, our midfield is shot and our key forwards can barely jump. I am worried for Dusty as well. We’re 7-8 players off challenging. We won’t be able to address our holes in one window.Cause he would help us reload and shave another shot in 2022 and 2023. After that we start to lose the core of the team. But right now we might snag another title or 2.
Moot point I guess ...I wish him all the best in retirement...a true gentleman and a superb player and I truly believe he deserved the Norm Smith in 2017, his game watching it live was stunning .....but as happens with all the greats time catches everyone and it's caught BacharIf Houli wants to play so be it.
He always has the option to retire before the mid season draft if injuries become an issue again.
If Richmond recruit Talia they then deserve to have this as Half Time musical interlude music

If we’re having another crack, don’t see why we shouldn’t have a good look at Talia. Should be dirt cheap, fills an obvious gap.
If he was 26 or 27 i would get it - but at 29 i don't see where his improvement would be. Feel like we are going back to Troy Chaplin & Mark Graham days - but the player is not even as good as either of those 2 guys were.
The idea of the club topping up with Talia's etc to try and " go again" really makes me nervous. We got that way and fail, this era will not age well or gracefully. I'd much rather we really commit to rebuilding
And the song? I actually liked it! Love me a cheesy 80's soundtrack - would fit in nicely with my "Valley Girl" & Yello "Oh yeah" song-tage
