The CJ v Chol debate is interesting. Key for me here is what role they are likely to play going forward and what there value is to us in moving.
I honestly cant see either of these guys playing any role other than the back up ruck and 3rd tall option. As mentioned, CJ and Lynch as 2 key forward targets makes us too top heavy and cumbersome, so dont think its a viable long term option to keep both as our 2 primary KPF's. If Jack was 28 and Lynch was 31 then keeping CJ would be the obvious choice.
Next year its likely we have Soldo and Nank both available, I think both will play if fit. Also Jack and Lynch will both play, so either of these guys are mostly backup and insurance for injuries, doesn't make sense to keep both on the list.
So who's the better 3rd tall/Ruck. CJ is the better forward, but Chol is the better ruck, CJ has shown better form as the 2nd forward, and may well end up the better player, but Chol's ruckwork is far superior IMO. So if we are looking as to who's going to fit our system better and provide overall value its not much different, Chol has shown he can be handy as the third tall, not so much as one of the 2 key pillars.
What do we get in return? If Chol leaves we get nothing, if CJ leaves we should get a late first rounder, maybe a pick that might nett us a more mobile Jack replacement i.e. Van Rooyen.
Based on this even though CJ likely to be the better player in the long run, if he doesn't fit our list need, and we get much better return, then better off letting CJ go and keeping Chol. My thoughts are its not just a Chol/CJ choice, it might be a Chol & Van Rooyen/CJ choice.
