Parker is the type that will slow down very quickly. Swans are very smart operators/

His contested footy will slow him down in terms of bangs and hard knocks, not so sure about his body type.

Everyone slows down eventually its just a question of when.

I think with Sydney though they have some up and comers that are young and they are always chasing others. You know with Buddy coming of his big contract not too far away and strong developing youth they probably have future targets in mind.

They like to hang in the finals side of the ladder to so are probably have a few future targets in mind to compliment their developing youngsters so they can have another proper run going forward. They have a thing for marque player targets historically

Apart from Buddy who will be getting cheaper in the not too distant future even if he continues they are really operating in a more general futuristic window than us even though such windows can modify and overlap. Generally Sydney would be building around Heeney, Mills and the youngsters.

I know the Buddy contract has been a weight on what they have been able to do. Sydney could be planning anything looking at the Buddy play in the past. They could be chasing Gold Coast players, GWS players in the future , anything is possible. Josh Kennedy signed a one year extension I noticed so they would be aware of a pending transition period in the short term and any resurgence will be from the youngsters and new acquisitions. Mills is in the midfield probably looking at future leadership to for the team with a future emphasis and with different set-ups. They are apparently chasing Lipinski at least the industry is aware of so looking to reload. They rely on their academy a bit and with Pies down, Hawks going into rebuild, amongst others, they could be looking to FA and trades themselves to top up for elite talent in the next few years as getting top end draft picks is not really an option for them now as their youngsters continue to develop and they rise up the ladder

If GWS don't use pick 2 which becomes for on Callaghan supposedly on this top 4 scenario we and we are banking on that we may as well trade for pick 2 GWS gets pick 3 if they do not want a player in that top four.

We are basically saying trade for pick 3 because GWS are not going to pick one of the supposed top four but what if GWS do a separate trade with another club? There would not be that much in a 2 versus 3 and GWS will want to get value. We just want to get who we want so we may as well trade with GWS and Gold Coast if it comes to that so GWS gets pick 3 and we get pick 2 if all parties are happy that way we get who we want which is the main thing at least or someone better at a price we are willing to cover.

I can't see the point with flirting with this situation on if a club does this or not when we are hardly ever in this situation to take this opportunity if it is what we want and suits us most and other clubs are happy to trade for their purposes. The only thing is if GWS trade 2 to get 3 and extra can they trade pick 3 again for something else if it suits them or does AFL HQ run a police state in this regard?
Rather use our later picks to get three first rounders. In an even draft from 5-15/20 picking three quality kids is the way to go then some late sliders to develop.

I have consistently said what they have just printed today but nobody listens to me. It's the curse for having a massive shlong #backpain/badknees
You need to remember that the Sam Edmond's and Tom Morris's of the world don't have a $9000 computer like you. Makes it hard for them to get information delivered to them as accurately.

you can't just walk in here, give us nothing and then leave! That's poor form. I expected more from you

I have shared on the podcast and just been flat chat at work. I had planned to catch up with my mates on the weekend for updates and I'll share it Monday here or on the podcast if Michaels Wants to run one

You need to quit your job. Bigfooty is more important than having a life.

If you end up strapped for cash you could always make a sex tape. Upload it with the title "Dirty Danny DeVito" and that should feed the family for a while.

Wot?

When I hear this - I think dan hannebery - we dont want a dan hannebery clogging our list (and taking the spot of a potential young gun with upside). Swans are very smart and there'd be a good reason they're not going over the top to keep him. Players like him dont last much past 30 and have a huge drop off with injuries, speed - the game will pass him by pretty quickly.

Hannebery was terribly banged up for 2-years before going to Saints on a 5-year deal. Parker has missed 1 game in 6 years and was just their best player in a final. If we are hoping to contend in 2022 for a flag then Parker can be the difference.

Offering him 3-years on $650k does not stifle our development and could be the key to winning a flag. And he’s an RFA so costs us nothing in draft picks if Sydney don’t match.

I’m sure Parker is going nowhere, but him and Hannebery are chalk and cheese.

Not so sure …. let Mitchell go over others and he won a Brownlow. Aliir left and he was AA CHB. Mummy has been superb for GWS. Nank triple flag player for Tigers. So not so sure Swans are the poster boys for list management.

Fair points but Parker is a touch different.

Seems far to lopsided for the pies benefit if we are giving them CCJ, enough late packs to make up a early first round pick all for the chance of an early first round pick back
I said nothing abOUT CCJ. I said give them late picks to give them the xtra Points required fo Daicos + our future first for their future first. They'll end bottom 5 for sure.

CCJ was what my initial reply was about a poster wanting to trade CCJ to the pies but I said they don’t have the trade capital to make it happen

Why? Because they both played for the Swans and similar age? They are not similar.

Hannebery played 15 games with his last year at the Swans. He averaged 18 touches a game (down from 24 the year before, which was down from 30 the 2 years before that). His tackles had dropped form 5 to 2.5, clearances from 5 to 2.4.
He was on a clear large decline.

Parker played 23 games this year. He averaged 27.9 a game which was a career high and 6.3 clearances which was 0.1 behind his career high on 2017. Along with making the AA squad and picking up 34 touches, 5 tackles and 8 clearances in the Elim final.

Not even close to the same. Parker was elite this year and putting up career numbers. Hannebery had injury troubles and was in a massive decline.

Hannebery is a pretty slack trainer by all accouns also loves the nose beers.

Depending on what gws do I reckon it’s extremely possible
Listen to the Road to the Draft Podcasts. All of Melb, GWS and Tigers RMs have confirmed Callaghan is top 4.

Given GWS holds pick 4 and their RM confirmed Daicos, Darcy and Horne were the other 3 he isn't getting to pick 5
