OopsLynch???. I bloody hope not!!!
Probably have a few suitors but the difference re Jackson was the go home factor seeing as he is a WA boy so it’s an extra factor influencing his decisionI could imagine someone would have a decent crack , he’s loads better than Luke Jackson and he had 800 plus x 5 thrown at him , has started the season well Balta , we won’t be signing him for peanuts , confident he stays tho

When was the last time a player signed with a rival in the same state with money being the deciding factor in the decision to stay or go?
Prob ollie Henry but even that had a local factorProbably have a few suitors but the difference re Jackson was the go home factor seeing as he is a WA boy so it’s an extra factor influencing his decision

Don’t think money was a factor in any of those moves at allButler, Higgins, Tarrant just to name 3 our club was involved in. People will say Butler and Higgins left for "opportunities" but they would have got bigger offers from the Saints than we were prepared to give them. So "opportunities" is often a euphemism for more money. Tarrant got a 2 year deal from us where North were only prepared to offer a 1 year deal. So he probably has $900k on the table from us and $500k from North.
I am sure if we looked into loads of deals money has played a major part even if it is not the sole and obvious reason.
Main motivator for higg and butler were opportunities, both played <12 games in final year , with butler I dont believe we even offered him a contract ,,,completely diff circumstances to Balta ,,,even Ollie henry was on outer tooButler, Higgins, Tarrant just to name 3 our club was involved in. They would get a better compensation pick than any trade offerYeah that's a stumbling block.
Wouldn’t be completely shocked if he made the moveDamo on Footy Classified just said West Coast are chasing Broad
Irks me they now chase him but they could easily have drafted him when we did. Piss off Eagles. Love Broady in the side, so crucial to how we play imo.Wouldn’t be completely shocked if he made the move
His mrs is originally from WA as well
Makes Gibcus and Brown a lot more important in terms of how our list looks
I actually wouldnt hold it against players like Broad or McIntosh leaving to cash in on their careersDamo on Footy Classified just said West Coast are chasing Broad

Higgins went to the saints because of his old man pulling the strings on his career and being a saint high profile member
Butler was opportunity (he only played 7 games in his last year with us)
and Tarrant wanted to play finals north would have cap space for days and could of paid him whatever he wanted
The money difference between what we or any other suitor would offer would be negligible and opportunity isn’t a factor nor is playing finals/go home
They are the only reasons players move clubs
Barr Saad and Stringer that had well documented other reasons for leaving the clubs they were atSo between all the following player moves you don't think any moved for more money than their previous club was prepared to offer them?
Saad Bombers to Blues
Pittonet Hawks to Blues
Fogarty Cats to Blues
Young Bulldogs to Blues
Howe Demons to Pies
Lipinski Bulldogs to Pies
Kreuger Cats to Pies
Stringer Bulldogs to Bombers
Hind Saints to Bombers
Weideman Demons to Bombers
Setterfield Blues to Bombers
I could go through all Vic club lists but you get the picture. If Demons offer Weideman $350k x 2 years to stay and Bombers offer him $450k x 2 years to go, wouldn't he qualify as leaving for more money? Not that I am saying that is exactly what happened in the Weideman case, but to my understanding this sort of thing occurs all the time. A player is simply worth more to a new club than they are worth to their existing club so they convince the player to move and a large part of the inducement is some extra coin. Naturally if Weideman is worth more to Essendon this comes with concomitant extra AFL team opportunities, because that is why he is worth more to Bombers than Melbourne, ie Bombers have a shortage of that type of player, and Melbourne have a surplus. But if Melbourne offers $350k and makes it known they really want Weideman to stay, and Bombers offer $350k to go there, does Weideman go or stay? We cannot know the answer to that but it has to be the case extra money is playing a big part in many of these players' decisions to change clubs, surely?

Both have been great servants and wouldnt have been highly paid and if an opportunity to make extra xash rolled up then good luck to them similar to Brandon Ellis situation.
2024 we will have enough depth to cover their spots and both getting older with Macca 29 & Broad 30
He would be a loss but a loss we can cover next year with players like brown , Gibcus , Young , Balta and also Biggy showing improvement in various rolesBroad would be a loss. He has that rare mixture of being tall, a great runner and a fully committed player - who has really improved his disposal over time at the top level. As a Free Agent, I am guessing Eagles might offer $400-450k x 3 years or something like that to entice him home to Perth. I doubt we get any valuable compo out of that, maybe a pick in the 50's. I guess for Richmond it clears some cap space, opens up a position for the likes of Tom Brown to try to nail down, and gives us a pick that may form part of a trade or we take it to the draft and have a crack with it. Part of the reason Eagles may be interested is he was a late starter at AFL level who hasn't had too many serious injuries, so they might figure he can play usefully well into his 30's. But if all that is true then he is definitely a loss for us.
Barr Saad and Stringer that had well documented other reasons for leaving the clubs they were at
Every single one of those players are depth players that weren’t best 22 at afl level at the club they left
He would be a loss but a loss we can cover next year with players like brown , Gibcus , Young , Balta and also Biggy showing improvement in various roles
I also believe we have a hidden player in Luke Teal in the vfl which we are keeping a close eye on and Mutaz El Nour is another player we will be watching
I think Richmond wouldnt mind shedding some cap space with players like Broad to go all out for a KPF in 1-2 years time
Yes but he will be turning 30 and possibly still has 2 years but wouldnt be a bad time to give opportunity to the younger kidsI always think Broad brings things that are tough to replicate. Of course you don't have to exactly replicate one player with another to be as good or better team. A new player can bring different strengths that may prove of at least equal value. I just find Broad a really reassuring presence in our team.
Teal sure is hidden, he hasn't even played VFL.He would be a loss but a loss we can cover next year with players like brown , Gibcus , Young , Balta and also Biggy showing improvement in various roles

An over ager? That's not very well hidden then.He is playing tac
Would hate to lose broad tbh. He’s become super reliable a developed his game over the years. If grimes retires he’s perfect to take over any role in the backline.
Would love to get to 100 plus games.
