I would rate Richmond’s backline top 4. The midfield 6-10 although disappointing tonight. The forward line is easily bottom 4 and a major weakness. Bring in Himmelberg and failing that any other tall forward as Richmond have nothing coming through.

lol, we are not in contention.

HH would definitely set us back as we need to develop a younger generation and then rise up in a few years

Brisbane had a physical edge on us last night including a youth/energy element and they will only improve

If anything last night proved we need to trade a few out and rebuild and try and contend in 3-5 years.

Our backline will have to be rebuilt, HH is a not knowing where your at reach

Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

You want to trade out an established A+ talent to get 2 first round picks to get in kids who may be potential A+ talent.

Yes but it is about windows.

We are not in contention for the next 3 years so what we have like Grimes is irrelevant because they will be retired by the time we contend again.

That is why trading out the likes of Lynch makes sense because he cannot win with us and may as well have a crack in a team better set up for a premiership tilt needing him

Lynch for Nick Daicos seems fair to me, lol

We can rebuild by getting FA and middle aged players. Sometimes a few key pieces of the puzzle is all you need. If we just keep drafting kids we’ll waste our prime age players now and will never be in contention until they retire.

HH is a straight up upgrade to our Fwd or backline and he’s essentially free. I really don’t see why we shouldn’t get him. Jacks going and Grimes is almost cooked. He’s the replacement for either of them.

Also gives us more options for Gibcus if we want to give him a crack forward

HH could slot straight into our backline and Gibcus could be that Jack replacement

Nope, no chance to win a premiership in three years. I will run naked through Melbourne if we do

But

But

But

He's only a $600k-$650k player
why should we pay $700k-$750k we will get ripped off and our cap is tight and we wont be able to pay all our elite kids that we will apparently have in 3 years time that will need more $$$

Get with the program dude

Really liked the look of Kai Lohmann in the ressies again today, I reckon we should be targeting him. With Coulthard and Lohmann on board our gaping small forward hole would be filled. Bring in Himmelberg or McKay as a free agent and/or Georgiades as a cheap trade and we can concentrate on mid and KPP depth in the draft for a couple years.

Think I need to slow down on the bevs I thought you wrote “Really like the look of Kath Loughnan” for a sec 🤣

Yup if anything it actually sets the list backwards and puts the timeline for when we could be a genuine contender back from (2 - 3) seasons that it is now if everything goes alright to 5+ years and a full scorched earth rebuild
Mentioned it before in this thread, we need to follow the process and not look for shortcuts. It's what we did as we built the list from 2010-2016, then when we felt we were close we made targeted acquisitions that rounded out the list, as well as making some adjustments to the way we played and the results came.

We're pretty much 3 years into the rebuild and we've made the first targeted acquisitions by getting in Taranto & Hopper to join Bolton in being the foundation of the midfield for the next 7-10 years. As has been discussed on the Tigercast and among us on here, there is a plan in place to target a KPF or 2 over the next few years to be the long term replacements for Jack and Tom. That's the next step in the process, but at the same time we will continue to hit the draft when we can to keep building the foundation of the list.

Injury to gibcus this year means we haven't had the opportunity to see him play forward. He was quite good as a KPD last year.
HH has played a lot as a forward we need KPFs.
I would not be drafting HH to play in the back line.
JR, Ryan and Miller played some good football but the brizzy game was a bit of a shocker. A reality check maybe or a abberation. JR could do the job as sole KPF in the finals in 2017. No Lynch and no Chol, no soldo meant we had a look at Ryan who's been quite good. Needs another pre season

Cumberland for Dusty is a look at the future.
Hopefully a chance to look at Bauer instead of Ryan or Miller to play ruck.
There might be enough options in the club for a JR replacement for 2024. Essendon have had a hit with wright. Pies picked up McStay for 600.. Or we pay top dollar for the best available next year.

Our issue is we lack foot skills and our fwds do not lead up to the ball carrier we still bomb the ball long and with Lynch out we have no one capable of marking it. Modern footy requires ball movement by foot via the corridor and fwds who lead up to the ball carrier ala Collingwood we have too may foot soldiers who played a part in the bomb it long system that is now outdated.
We should be moving heaven and earth to trade our way back into the draft and using a few stars as bait.
Dusty, Jack, Cotchin are done, Grimes, Vlastuin, KMac in twighlight
I’d be offering Bolton, Soldo, Short, Graham, Baker up for anyone who can get us into the pointy end of the draft.

I’m not sold on Miller as a forward.
Liked him as a backman in the last part of 22.

Samson looks nice as a forward/ruck but I think he’s more of a second/third tall type (Oscar Allen style when JK and Darling were 1/2).
He may even be our next number one ruckman.

Agree Bauer should get a run of games as a forward.

Lynch, Bauer and HH could be quite a good mix.

Need Coulthard to get a run to see if he fits that small goal kicking forward type and MRJ to build his fitness as that pressure forward.

Cumberland has been really disappointing this year, and injuries have meant he’s missed a shot at really grasping his opportunities. Not sure what to make of him.

Ben King in the Pies v Suns game is getting ripped a new A hole

5 minutes to go in the last quarter
4 kicks
2 handballs
3 marks
2 turnovers
0 goals

Bolton, Short and Baker are our best young players and also 3 of the best kicks we have on the list right now
Yet you said in the first line that we lack players with good foot skills so getting rid of any of those 3 is counter productive

We also went solely for great users in the 21 draft with Brown, Sonsie and Clarke all noted as particularly great kicks so it’s also worth giving these 3 chance to develop

Would go a lot better, in a better side

He’s playing in an amateur side that’s doing him no favours
Both Kings have been extremely over paid and over rated so far with neither delivering what they have promised so far

They are not at the level of Tom Lynch at the same age

That's true. I would not want them either. McDonald from swans is the one I would't mind. My view anyhow.
