In one draft we got ccj and Noah Balta who’ll prob finish top 3/4 in bf , what are they a bowl of gold fishWe're zero chance of landing Ben King. He's contracted to 2024 (6th season) he's on $750k (+ $300k ambassador salary same as Coniglio) we have no picks to trade, we can't afford his salary. Maybe in 2026 when he's a FA but GC will match any bid and they won't have to pay that $300k that the AFL will if he stays there but whatever team goes after him will.
In the 16 drafts since taking Riewoldt we haven't used a decent pick on a KPF. We could've drafted Lynch, Oscar Allen plenty of others. 2024 club needs to cough up and spend a decent 1st rounder on a KPF for a change. No more Ruck/ FWD's.
The way FA works in the AFL equating to 8 years of service every is going to be 27Himmelberg reeks of Mitch McGovern to me. What he has shown is exactly who he is & we clearly need more than that. He is 27, I don't see him making a leap to a 50 goal a year guy or anything.
The Kings are just a dream for some here and not even a remote possibility in the next 2-3 yearsYeah I don't see us getting King.
Gibcus pick 9?

You need to target exceptional players as they aren’t getting any better from 27 onwards
They reek of "highly strung".
Ben King is going to play in a very very strong Gold Coast team the next 7-8 years with the talent GC have and will get this draft
They are just 1 more season away from becoming a top 4 team with the right coaching and leadership
Have you heard it from me ?Lol I've heard the same thing for the last 10 years.
Best list doesn't equate to premierships. GWS had the list that was meant to dominate for ten years. The Ferrari.Have you heard it from me ?
They will have the best list in 2 years time

Our forward line has had JR as a fixture and a rotation of KPFs. Until we brought in Lynch. Relegating chol and CCJ to back up. They took better offers. Win win for Chol as he was required KPF while King had a year out and Chol wasn't required to ruck which he was not a natural at. CCJ was just getting games when his suspension ended. With Soldo as back up ruck. He wasn't a must keep. But then struggled to get a game at North. We were left with Ryan, Miller Bauer Gibcus . With Jack retirement and Lynch off the park again. We need to rethink both KPFs. A mobile Jack type, maybe 195 who doesn't have to ruck. Leave that to the 3rd KPF.This is taken from an article announcing the U18 AA team 2017. Coleman Jones himself said he's a ruckman who can go fwd. Oscar Allen kicked 11 goals that carnival as a FWD, was named Larke medallist. But our recruiters spruiked they identified something in CCJ.... (Still waiting)
"Allies big man Brayden Crossley, who has drawn ample similarities with Giants ruckman Shane Mumford, was named in the starting ruck position, despite playing just three of four games.
Fellow ruckman and SA captain Callum Coleman-Jones was named in the forward line, despite kicking just three goals across the champs and spending ample time in the ruck."

DRAFT enigma Noah Balta believes his best position will be as a key defender should he make the jump to the elite level.
Noah Balta played three matches for Vic Metro in this year’s national carnival.

At 194cm and 92kg, Balta started the TAC Cup season as a key forward, was used in a defensive post during the Under-18 National Championships and also spent time in the ruck."
Noah was a fwd 2016 Calder cannons. 2017 he was a defender/ ruck. Vic metro he was a defender.
Need to draft proven kpF who can consistently kick goals. Not just tall blokes and hope to turn them into tall forwards. Every club has an annual turnover of failed kpF or ruck/fwd who didn't make it. Not all gun U18 KPF become gun AFL KPF but Larke Medallist Oscar Allen dominated the carnival same as he's dominating AFL in a terrible team. How's CCJ and Conca going?
Not sure if you remember , in 2019 we took Tom Lynch , what’s he a bowl of Gold fish , I won’t embarrass you by posting his wiki profile , that would mean our immediate recruiting targets would be anywhere but a key forward no ,This is taken from an article announcing the U18 AA team 2017. Spot on MateWe do not need a ‘gun’ KPF. We just need a fierce competitor capable of kicking 35+.
Pies are flying and their big forwards are Mihocek, Cox and Johnson. Dees won a flag with big forwards of BB and McDonald. Port are flying with a cooked Dixon and Marshall was injured for ages. Dons turned their forward line around by putting Langford down there as he competes.
Blues have done sweet FA with 2 x Coleman medallists. GC are poo with Ben King. Saints haven’t fired a shot with Max King. That’s because the King boys are not fierce competitors. Lions have won nothing with Daniher / McStay - not fierce competitors. Crows never won a thing with Walker, Jenkins and now Walker, Fogarty and Thilthorpe.
Of course if you’ve got a gun, great. But let’s not panic about needing a ‘marquee’ KPF.
Focus on someone who is 193cm+ and smashes packs and attacks the ball like their life depends on it as priority #1 (an underrated asset for both Jack and Lynch). Then worry about the rest.
I don’t know if Georgiades or Riccardi have that attribute ..?? I’m not sure HH does from what I’ve seen. He’s a ‘nice’ player, but not a kamikaze forward like Mihocek.
If they don’t have ultra competitive mongrel and crazy courage to crash packs, bypass them.

It does seem like there’s an element of out thinking it and out smarting themselves by the recruiters at times. This is taken from an article announcing the U18 AA team 2017. My wishes for you- hope for best and full recovery. At work. At my office it opens into a factory with a automatic metal door that opens up when you come close and closes when you leave. I need to use it as its the way to the loading bay and If I have to take anything to a client, I load the car up from there. Door opened fine but when I went under it, it decided to slam down on my head. Happened in February and only now do I feel I am starting to get some real traction in getting over it finally.
Agree to a point. We don't need a top dog KP yet while Lynch is around so yep a 2nd KP to play a role is all thats needed.Pity Treacy resigned for 3yrs he would have been ideal imo.Hummingbird @750k to play that role is way overs. We do not need a ‘gun’ KPF. We just need a fierce competitor capable of kicking 35+.

Only because I was there pumping his tyresDow just had a great game in VFl
Banging his head against the wall after team selection? If it's not too personal how did you suffer the concussion?
Go back a little further and you will find Gibcus played a lot more forward it was only really his final year he played backToo bad he's a DEFENDER. Might as well say Alex Rance. Or Grigg was recruited as a Ruckman. He was recruited as a KPD played 99% of game time down back last year. Hardwick threw him up forward to try something. Might be played up forward next year due to empty cupboards. If only we could glue 2 HBF's together and create another KPF out of the 15 spare HBF we have.
Josh Gibcus
Key Defender
196cm/87kg
4/4/03
Greater Western Victoria Rebels/Vic Country
Clubs place a premium on intercept defenders and Gibcus' talents in the backline are obvious to all. The Rebels prospect models his game on Brisbane's Harris Andrews and Melbourne's Jake Lever, and there are similarities in their style with the leap and reading of the play. At the Vic Country testing day, Gibcus won the running vertical jump test with a leap of 89cm - it would have been higher but the equipment couldn't be lifted any further where they were testing. Gibcus has fans inside the top 10 and is assured of being an early pick
Logan Morris was moved fwd yesterday for VM.Kicked 4.Looked alright up fwd as a defender.lolGo back a little further and you will find Gibcus played a lot more forward it was only really his final year he played back
But my point is more about Key position draftees tend to move around a fair bit before settling on any position so saying we haven’t recruited a gun forward is an odd take when you should be looking at key position players overall not where they got drafted playing
Didn’t Astbury kick a small bag in his first game for us?Logan Morris was moved fwd yesterday for VM.Kicked 4.Looked alright up fwd as a defender.lol
Narkle type close?Love for us to look at Tyler Brockman at the Hawks. WA kid, but apparently quite close with Shai Bolton. Would slot straight into our forward line.
