Watching that game tonight, if you were to exclude Melbourne's star players (Oliver, Gawn, Petracca, Viney, May etc.), I wouldn't mind Spargo or Rivers (doubt we would be able to get him though)

It is probably a wait and see approach for Ralphsmith and Mansell.




There are 4 list spots spare from the retirement of George, JR, Cotch and Taz and we have as it stands picks 25, 44, 62, 80

Would keep hrs and mansell on 1 yr deals, need some depth and cant expect too many winners out of this years trade/draft. If they're not banging the door down for best 22 cut em loose, well have a much better draft hand at that stage.

Not sure how it works but didn’t coultard get a spot from Georgie? Making it three picks in a draft that is about 60-65 players deep.

Coulthard and Trezise were both MSD picks (rookies) due spots from George's retirement and Kaleb Smith being ruled out for the season through injury.

Therefore we had 2 extra Cat A rookies due the retirement and LTI. Since then we have delisted Bradtke so we are now down to 7 rookies (1 too many). Biggy has not yet been offered another year so could be delisted or possibly Miller could be elevated to get the number Cat A rookies back to 6

But with Mitch Lewis battling ACL damage then a mid-foot sprain it was apparent how bereft their forward line was at times when their key forward was missing.

So while Koschitzke only kicked nine goals in 12 games — much quieter than his breakout 2021 season kicking 27 goals from 20 games — he is a required player.

No word yet on whether rivals have interest but there is a clear chance for him to establish himself as the foil to Lewis.

The Hawks are still in the race for North Melbourne free agent Ben McKay

Greene kicked 15 goals in 10 games so would be hopeful of another one-year deal, while Jeka was a much-hyped forward but after being trialled as a key back late in 2022 didn’t play a senior game this year.

Gold Coast would have to offload 6 contracted players to keep all their live picks - 4, 28, 32, 42, 47, 56, 60, 65, 68
Have 9 live picks but only 3 out of contract non-rookies Sharp, Constable and Day

They would have trade out players like Chol (2 years left), C Graham (3 years left), Hollands (1 year left), Burgess (1 year left), Sexton (1 year left).

Alex Davies or Connor Budarick seem a notch up from those player, especially Davies. Would be worth enquiring about him given Gold Coast's list squeeze.

Have been told mansell has a one year deal on the table but trying to negotiate triggers for a second year. Likely stays.

Good length deals.

Like that we didn't overcommit to Dow to keep him hungry.

2 years for Bauer was earnt, given he's in the tall forward type and newer to the list he needs a bit longer.
