You're comparing deals done in 2017 & 2018 with a deal done in 2019. There was no conspiracy to rob us of a pick, We had the opportunity to match the bid and force a trade if we wanted to, but because we didn't want to risk having to sign Brandon to a $600k a year deal we opted not to match, thinking we would get the band 2 compo pick that was awarded the 2 years before, because of the similar value in the deals.

IMO, I believe we failed to take into account was that more players were earning more than $600k a season when Ellis was offered his deal, compared to the previous couple of years and gambled that we'd get the same compo, but we ended up with the band 3 compo instead.

So they offer Chol 4 years and Jacob 1 year yet somehow Chol is worth less. Yeah that makes sense. Dimma obviously been supplying to their list management team

They would be lucky to receive a 3rd round pick for him, AT BEST. future 3rd or 4th is more his worth, considering he's borderline delisted. Yes, Gale thought we should've got the end of the first round, heck we all thought the same. 5 years at 600K+ a year covers both the length and total value amount. Cornes and others in the media kicked up a stink and that's why we didn't get it.
AFL changes the rules to suit its own agenda. Whether it's the compo picks, or Hocking stand rule. 666 rule

Spot on! No way we will pay that price, especially given what they are spruiking to pay for Chol, they are having a laugh surely. Rarely would I suggest this, but, grab him in the PSD. I’d be shocked if any other club took him, especially if we price his deal to achieve an outcome
