Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

Would have to disagree with that. If we were to lose him in free agency we would have gotten a end of first rounder for him as the compo pick. Without doubt. All Richmond has to do is tell Port, unless we get a end of 1st as compo, we will match the deal and force a trade. clubs have realised, that you are better to over-pay the guy and get him without losing any draft assets, then just re-negotiate the contract at a later date ( ala Daniher & will 100% be the case with Gresham, Doedee etc

an end of 1st round pick would trump the package we got.
an end of first rounder for a 28 year old who would likely be on average wage or just above that, at best on 600,000 a year? absolutely dreaming :tearsofjoy:

I’ve said it a few times but Nank’s injuries have all just been bad luck.

Groin slipping on terrible Optus surface when it was still pretty new.

Knee-on-knee with O’Brien first ruck contest of the game, PCL, can happen to any ruck if the contact is right, which it sadly was.

Syndesmosis ankle twice.

Pure bad luck, it hasn’t been due to a breakdown of some sort.
I'm sure he has had a groin issue for a few seasons that had to be managed!

What a load of BS

Firstly you're ignoring the fact that he's been wanted by other clubs for 3 years and it was now or never for him with a relatively lucrative deal and the opportunity of playing 1st ruck. He was gone anyway.

Secondly, there is no way on God's earth that we would have locked him in a position where we would match a contract and force a trade, see above.

Thirdly, and most importantly, we received pick 41 this year and Freo's 2nd round pick next year, which could quite easily be between picks 20-25. Picks 41 and 25 combined are equal to pick 14. Which is actually better than your so-called 'end of 1st round pick', without all of the dramas that you propose.

Patrick Voss delisted by Essendon, wouldn't be the worst DFA pick up. A 194cm Key Forward, won the bombers VFL Best & Fairest and kicked 30 goals in 18 games. At the very least he could take Bradtke' spot in the VFL

baldwin I’d be keen haven’t heard much chatter tho , he has hands like a vice , again weiderman was played ahead so can’t be too great

What's the knock on this kid? If I had to guess, as I've never seen him play, but normally it's a lack of foot speed. Does anyone know for sure?

rule number 1 never draft any esserden offcuts

not sure…still only 20…developing 96kegs…194 cm…He played all 18 VFL games, averaging five marks and booting 30 goals to finish as the team's leading goalkicker….won the drugs vfl bnf

only thing I can think of is his thousand yard stare

Checked first to see who the author was and worked out immediately that it would be RFC players this jerk was going to mention, and none from his favourite chokers, Port.
Sure enough, says we need a huge rebuild and need to offload Lynch and Dustin if there’s a mid season trade period. So, destroy the culture built over the last 5-10 years by trading your best players for draft picks, that are an unknown quantity?
Bugger off and worry about your own choking side Kornhole
This time last yr he was having a daily dig at us even before JH & TT had even entered Punt Rd for wanting to be better, now he wants us to go full Norf...

I watched him against our VFL side and he was a very good performer that day. But they’ve got a shocking forward line and they still delisted him so must be a good reason! IMG_3513.png

All I can hear is the song used in Platoon and overlapped with the sound of gunfire, helicopters and the exploding Naplam when I see his picture.

Kid has definitely done some kind of war crime in his past.

I reckon the context of him knowing it was his last game as coach of Richmond (and the group did NOT know this yet) is incredibly pinnacle to that story. If it wasn't for that that fact, no one would even care to talk about it - let alone include it in a book and it be used as the "presser" content to promote the book.

It would be like me on my last day at a job i had spent a decade at where i was a Team Leader, telling everyone they are crap, i would sack them all & replace them with anyone if i had half a chance & then walking into the owners office and resigning. It would be a very petty way to leave a job IMO.

To ignore the actual context of when he made the comment is to ignore the most important part of the entire story. He chose his final address to the players to be just that & presented it in a very poor, "rattled" fashion from all reports.

He delivered us three flags. His final address on his way out the door could’ve been a massive dump on Benny Gale’s desk for all I care. If he delivered us two flags then I’d only accept a leak in his desk drawer.

The fact we're even looking at Naismith as about the best available underlines how valuable Soldo was. Way more valuable than what we got for him, 'market worth' be damned.

A couple of incidences of average grade bad luck among our heavily depleted ruck division (we've lost three mature age rucks in three years and couldn't even keep the best of them!) and we can kiss the next 2-3 seasons of finals goodbye.

Wallace's coaching stint began with us assembling four mature, capable first rucks (and Pattison), by year 2-3 we were alternating playing Pattison and Tuck there half the year. Lack of a consistent, durable ruck division (even more than losing Brown and Coughlan) ruined any possible chance of success in that era.

We were really blessed and unusually fortunate to get away with the thin stocks of injury prone rucks we did in the Hardwick flag years. Since then we've steadily run ourselves down to an ageing, injury prone Nank then literally nothing...next in line is a hope and a prayer that Ryan definitely makes it .

Really dumb list management, IMO.

No, dumb list management would have been to keep Soldo for 2024 and have him leave as a free agent next year and received 3rd round compo. Or zero compo if we bring a free agent in next year.

Instead we got 41 (that’ll turn into 38), and a future second and a future fourth. As well as having Soldo’s money to front end a couple of contracts, perhaps taking some coin off the last year of each of Hopper and TT’s deals to reduce our exposure.

Soldo was going to be an unrestricted free agent wasn’t he? Meaning the deal cannot be matched and we get what we are given. Given he’d have been 29yo start of 2025 and he’d not have been offered a fortune, we’d have received third round compo.

And even if he was a restricted FA, I don’t think you understand how the system works. Compensation is largely based on age and annual salary. So given Gresham was 26yo and offered $700k, this triggered end of first round compo. So for a 29yo Soldo to trigger end of first round compo, he’d need to have been offered $900k / season or even more for the length of his contract. So Port would never in a million years offer $900k / season just so we’d not match. And if they offered a 3-year deal at $700k to trigger second round compo what then? We match and have a second string ruckman on $2.1m over the next three years…?? Or we don’t match and get a single second round pick … instead of the pick-41, plus a F2 and F4 we got this year?

The deal was too good to refuse and I believe he was an UFA so he was gone for peanuts end of 2024 anyway (and if he didn’t leave for opportunity Ryan would have as no way all of Nank, Ryan and Soldo would be in the team together).

Correctomondo...and if he delivered only one flag to us...we all get to dump on him cos their really should have been more!;)
