Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

6? More like 3.
Nank, Ryan.... Naismith.
Can't really count the 2 Category B's
Can't count Miller who is a fill in ruck at best and is essentially now a back.
Have I missed somebody?

Sounds like the signing of Naismith will happen very soon, according to a story just dropped on the HS website. Also said Lynch is going to be good to go for full pre-season training and Gibcus has made major progress over in Qatar and is expected to have a strong pre-season too.
Was also mentioned the AFL have ticked off putting Colina back on Cat B rookie list if no other club takes him, chances of which are remote imo.
Colina pick 1 to WCE, that’s why they’re refusing to trade it

Regardless I don't think we'll want 6 rucks on our list next season. It's 2 too many.
Can’t really count the cat B rookies though, as they’re just there on the off chance they’ll succeed (without even seeing a moment of Hayes-Brown I’d still have him miles ahead of Mate, who looked useless). Can’t count Miller as a ruckman either. Technically with the addition of Naismith, we’ll have 3 ruckmen (Nank, Samson, Naismith). I guess it will depend if we want to invest the time to produce another ruckman or look at bringing in an established ruck in future trade periods

Technically, we'll have 5.

Nank, Ryan, Colina, Hayes-Brown, Naismtih + a draftee = 6.
I'd still take one if we like them at the pick. Colina and Hayes-Brown are Cat B and have long odds to make it over the next couple of years.

At least we can head into the season with

Nank & Ryan in the seniors and Naismith & draftee in the VFL.

2 of them will more than likely get nowhere near it, Ryan is still 50-50 and if a young ruckman is any good might overtake him in a few years anyway.

Having said that, not sure it is our no.1 priority. If any key forward, gun mids, or gun young rucks fall, I'd hope we go in that order.

Can’t agree with you there Mate. Ryan has shown plenty and my oppo supporting mates think he’s gonna be something real good. He’s easily better than 50/50 to make the grade imo.

Why the fk wouldn’t we take a ruckman with our first pick?

2-3 years to develop before Nank is cooked.

The chance of those category B rookies getting a game let alone making the cut at AFL level is about 2%
Colina isn’t even VFL level, let alone AFL! I’m surprised we’re going to keep him on the list. I know it costs us barely anything to do so, but he literally just walked laps all of 2023 due to a back injury

Reckon with guys his height (205cm+) you need to allow them to hit mid 20s to peak, so I’m looking at a Tim English type of progression, who needed help in the ruck until he was about 24-25 (Stef Martin traded in a few years ago purely to take the load off him as he couldn’t compete all game with opposition ruckmen). If he ends up even half the player English is now, we’ll have a beauty

He has shown a falr bit, but by the end of the year he was getting beat up by VFL ruckman who worked out if you get physical and work his body he struggles. Yes he will get stronger, but AFL ruckman are and probably will always be much stronger.

He doesn't jump in the ruck but prefers to use his body, which he is pretty good at because he is pretty aggressive and has good ruck craft. My feeling is he might never be strong enough. He'll be 23 in a month, so not a kid. If he develops a bit of a spring and a lot more core strength then he has a good chance to make. Yes he better than 50-50, but how much we won't know until this year.

Skinny ruckman like Tim English, like Paddy Ryder and Brad Ottens, all had great leaps, so could get up above the knees of the big strong ruckman. Ryan doesn't. CCJ has failed for that reason as well to date.

Tom Downie beat him up in our game against Willy, but he’s a big unit and one of the best VFL listed ruckmen around. From memory Samson snuck forward on him and kicked a couple of goals, but yeh, was a pretty uninspiring performance and hopefully he learned a lot. His form after that was good

English doesn’t have much of a leap I don’t reckon? Samson looks a better tap ruckman than him, just needs to continue to get stronger and he’s put on 7kg this off season so that’s a start. Also needs to get fitter to run out games if he’ll be the main man on occasion

English is 26 and has only come on in the last two years to be the player he is, and has always been a good mover, not a leap in the Paddy Ryder mould, but still enough. Ryan has good ruck craft to be sure.
