I would guess, that any decent player manager, which Paul Conners is, would build potential CBA increases into their deals... Or at least a portion of it

Who knows … the 7-year security might have been in return for bypassing the CBA increase. Certainly not all clubs like building it in and not all deals include the rise. I’ve heard this said many times by list managers and player managers.

And even if it was built in, it takes their $700k to let’s say $800k in future years… but they’re talking of 50+ players being on $1m+.

Whatever it is, in 2-3 years their salaries won’t be holding us back.

Miss these 3? Naismith wouldn't leave to go elsewhere and the other two would be zero loss.

I'd keep Miller. He's a decent KPD and could bea good KPF - Not sure on KPF so far at all.

He's a solid AFL player. Godo pick I would have thought.

I would prefer we go after Sam Darcy for the bulldogs. They already have Naughton and will have to spend big to keep JUH. They will have no money or position for Darcy

Every single report agreed on the 7 years total $5mil figure. Never once any mention of inflation added on top. Even though was only 18 months ago 7 year deals were pretty rare back then. Last off season was an explosion of long term contracts. Should they stay injury free will be bargains especially towards the last few years.

That may change very quickly if the dogs offer his son leftovers and expect him to be a backup in case JUH or Naughton are injured. I would expect Luke Darcy would put his son first if he ever chose to get involved

Picks are unknown- never know how they will turn out. Might have to give up a pick but who cares if you are getting a quality player.

Miller is the perfect player to have on a list. Cheap. No risk of losing him. Capable of covering for injury in defence, forward and ruck. And if he gains confidence could become a permanent fixture in the team …but if not, just sit him in the VFL for another 6-years as a ‘break glass’ player.
