Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

If the bottom 3 spots of the ladder is Richmond 16th Freo 17th & Westcoast 18th we will have:-

Picks 3, 20 (Freo 2nd rounder), 21, 37 (Westcoast 3rd rounder) 38 (Fre 3rd rounfer), 39.

It's a thing of beauty!

And if Martin wants to go it will be a phenomenal draft hand.
i dont think we finish that low. the other 2 are a huge chance though

AFL Trade: Race on for versatile Tiger Liam Baker, young Saint Mattaes Phillipou looks to re-sign

The AFL is bracing for more controversy at the top-end of the draft, while clubs are circling an out-of-contract Tiger. Catch the latest trade news from JON RALPH

Victorian rivals have joined the queue of West Australian clubs chasing Richmond’s Mr Fix-It Liam Baker as he postpones contract negotiations until later this season.

Baker re-signed despite intense interest from Fremantle and West Coast two seasons ago and is out of contract as a 26-year-old entering his prime.
Baker is content to assess how Richmond’s season unfolds with a new coaching team and game plan under senior coach Adem Yze.
He has also been told he will be playing as a full-time midfielder this season as the Tigers again attempt to compete in the first year without premiership coach Damien Hardwick.

Baker is well paid given that interest on a deal of around $600,000 but with so many clubs boasting huge cap space - North Melbourne, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Essendon have ample room - teams are aggressively chasing quality midfielders.

Baker finished sixth in the club’s best-and-fairest last year and will join the likes of free agents Jack Graham and Dion Prestia who are in no hurry to decide their futures.

Richmond will be optimistic he will again sign on after stating when he signed his latest contract he was always keen to be at Punt Road despite Fremantle joining West Coast’s season-long interest.

One interesting wrinkle in his talks could be the likely announcement of Richmond recruiting boss Matthew Clarke as West Coast’s new list boss.

Not good that Matt Clarke is likely to leave.

Not too fussed about Clarke leaving.

As for Baker, I can't see him joining another Vic club. It'll be us, Eagles or Freo IMO. Money won't be a problem for us.

Agree
Also would prefer to keep him but would probably net a half decent pick in a trade so wouldn’t be the end of the world if he went back to WA

A first round pick or a quality Victorian kid returning home would be the market for Baker from either WA side.

It would be a setback. He's right in the sweet spot.

Minimum.

If Lynch doesn't play most games I reckon we are every chance to finish on or around 8 wins and 15th or 16th.
I'm just thinking if new coach and gameplan clicks and we win close games, we should improve on last year.

Lynch averages 17 games a year so 4 last year with an ageing Jack R, "virtual " debutant, Ryan, Ben Miller, Pickett and Soldo was a tough watch.
No Lynch in game1 will give us a quick look at plan B. Balta and Kosi I guess .

our midfield/fwd lines were a problem last year. often having plenty of the ball in the fwd line, but couldn't kick goals. The pressure fwds idea seems a fail .

Prestia, Jack G , Cotch mid and fwd was just too lop sided. None of these guys are fwd threats. God I wish it'd click for Cumbo.

Dusty, Shai, gotta be kicking a lot too.

I reckon we can turn him around with our culture. Worth the risk, as the reward would be enormous.
TT is 24; relatively young, a great a great player but serious issues with girl friends? that have had him sacked. Domestic violence ? I dunno if our club could turn that around.

In this case what more could North have done to prevent the issue/help Thomas? Mansell at punt road is the main difference.

Enormous reward? we traded in/drafted a bit of mid depth that can't get a game.

Clarke would be a huge loss.
Meh. Our drafting has been average overall at best since he took over. He's had three stand out picks since he took over in 2016 in Bolton, Balta and Baker and our WA scout would've had a fair bit to do with Bolton and Baker. Gibcus looks promising but anyone here could've picked him. Jurys out on the remaining 2021 fab 5 and the 2022 lot. Ross and Graham pass marks.

Could realistically be something like Baker + our first round pick, say 10, for a higher first rounder, say 3.

Or Baker + our 2024 & 2025 first round picks for Harley Davidson and maybe a later pick back to us.

I don't think any clubs culture can fix this bloke.

I dunno. From my limited knowledge, domestic violence is often learned behaviour from a rough upbringing, so maybe he was to spend some time in a loving family they might be able to teach him some better values.

North is full of kids, so it's a bit harder for them.

I probably think differently to most here regarding player retention these days, I reckon it will depend on how we perform this year. If we completely struggle like many so called experts suggest, then losing someone like Baker wouldn't surprise me. Highly sort after and would give us a decent return.
However, if we make the 8 and are in contention again then losing Baker would sting more. As I've said previously, he is 26 and his next contract will be a long-term deal. He is holding out for that security.

It is what it is and I'm not concerned, would love if he stays but if he leaves then we move on.
