Have one round of JLT matches - every game out in the country somewhere and donate everything and usually the week before the season starts which is the last week of the JLT stuff teams play at the usual stadiums where afl is played, have the SoO games then and possibly one more during the bye week before finals with lesser players playing from teams that aren’t in finals

Hard to play anywhere else in the first place, all stadiums are in cricket setup at the moment

NRL has dedicated their first round to the cause (from what I saw of headlines). Could the AFL not do something along those lines and eliminate unnecessary risk in playing a match for no points (albeit a worthy cause)?

If the AFL want all states involved than the only way to do it is to have a lighting premiership type carnival over a weekend. And no not AFLX!

Vic V Allstars I can accept and wouldn’t have a problem with. It’s for a good corse and it will appeal if it’s just a one off match! But don’t call it SOO because that’s not what it is!

Lol, Oh so obvious to your brilliant mind hey there Stephen Hawking?

Gold Coast has been decimated with injuries, but if prime GAJ went to play for victoria while we were struggling, it would still be for the good of the game, injuries are just as likely to happen in the 2nd rd of a nab warm up game as they are in a state of origin game.
Wow, it's obvious you have no idea......
Just because GC have no chance of a flag doesn't mean the great sides are willing to throw away a premiership by losing key players in a bullshit game .....

Victoria
B:
Tom Stewart (Geelong), Daniel Talia (Adelaide), Adam Saad (Essendon)
HB: James Sicily (Hawthorn), Michael Hurley (Essendon), Sam Docherty (Carlton)
C: Jack Macrae (WB), Dustin Martin (Richmond), Zach Merrett (Essendon)
HF: Shaun Higgins (North Melbourne), Tom Lynch (Richmond), Robbie Gray (Port Adelaide)
F: Toby Greene (GWS), Jeremy Cameron (GWS), Jordan De Goey (Collingwood)
R: Max Gawn (Melbourne), Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong), Marcus Bontempelli (WB)
Int: Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood), Clayton Oliver (Melbourne), Ben Cunnington (North Melbourne), Sam Walsh (Carlton), Gary Ablett (Geelong), Rowan Marshall (St Kilda)

This is a midfield that just won't get beaten. Dangerfield, Bontempelli and Martin as the starting on-ballers at the feet of Gawn make for the most brilliant on-ball division, plus the reinforcements are Pendlebury, Oliver, Cunnington and Ablett on the bench. Throw in Merrett and Macrae, plus young gun Walsh on the interchange, and the outside run is extraordinary. So good, in fact, that the likes of Lachie Whitfield and Josh Kelly didn't make the cut. The Vics have a very sturdy defence held down by Talia and Hurley with Stewart and Sicily strong in the air, while De Goey, Cameron and Greene will be near-on unstoppable close to goal. - Callum Twomey

Sam Walsh ahead of Josh Kelly and Saad & Docherty ahead of Whitfield and you wonder why most people acknowledge that alot of the media commentators are ****ing stupid

AFL needs to do something but not this ...... bad memories from Tony Hall being tackled by Andy Collins! He wasn’t the same player afterwards.

If we go by something bad that happened in the mid 90's then I don't think anyone should create a website since the dot com bubble burst back then and clearly if something bad happened 20 years ago we should never try it again or improve upon it.

“All-Stars” :$

Just do VIC v WA under genuine H&A match conditions at the MCG. Would be an exciting matchup between 2 strong sides that both states could get behind.

SA and the other states just don’t have the talent to match VIC, so leave them out of it.
So why would our clubs give up our players and risk them again If our states aren't worthy?

Stiff s### still don’t like the idea. As in most things in life some will some won’t. If it goes ahead hope no Hawk players take part.

Our sport is very unique. If it was representing our country different storey. When I go overseas I never say I’m Victorian. Even when travelling around Australia I say I’m from Melbourne. AFL should perhaps donate all the gate takings for round 1 and that would get people out in droves. Each to their own!

If Barcelona can give up Lionel Messi so he can play for his country a 6 or 7 times a year I think Hawthorn can give up Luke Bruest for 1 match.

It’s for charity - AFL clubs really need to stop taking themselves so seriously.

VIC v WA at the G would provide a genuine gauge of modern fan interest in State of Origin.

If it’s a successful and exciting contest in front of 90k between teams of passionate players representing their state, then maybe the concept can be expanded to include others in 2021.

Its hard to relax in the AFL industry when people get fired after 2 bad years.

Answered that in my previous post. What’s bigger the ‘World Cup & European Cup’ or the ‘La Liga’ competition? I have been in Europe and the entire place literally shuts down when the World or Euro cup is on! Would La Liga schedule games during these tournaments? Soccer clubs know where they stand end of storey. It’s completely different to Ozzie rules.

Prefer Breust to be walking his dog or recovering for the next Hawks game. As I said AFL needs to do something for the bushfire relief but not this. Some players would like it but many others would not so it would always be half baked.

Can't wait to see how the AFL fu** this up
Like good over evil, I expect the Vic Water Bombers to prevail over the Sydney Scorchers. AFL forgets other states, players and fires alike. Players enter the ground via chinook helicopter while the footy equivalent of Harlem Globetrotters dress up as firemen and take speccies on each other. The North Melbourne Mascot does a lap of the ground covered in bandages. We finish the evening with fireworks.

Yes, and it is people like you that won't even allow the AFL to try and develop something above the AFL in terms of quality. If in Europe they did not have an international series in soccer someone like you would be arguing that international soccer will never work and clubs should come first.

It’s people like you that can’t handle the truth and live with the fairies.

Be like water RUNVS san. Let your nature take the shape of its container!

scatterbrain idea to play a vic v the rest game at that time. heard a suggestion that made more sense today. give all the takings - plus player, official and other payments - from the country round for fire relief. get the likes of toyota to provide cars for raffles at each game. also the betting agencies to chip in. and the afl to donate a healthy sum too. wouldn't hurt for gil to chip in too.
