The Smith & Perkins links make all of the more sense in this regard. Neale being the holdover makes the key forward hole in the side look more apparent than it is in reality.

If Dempsey can put on some size and transition into a full time midfielder next year then Wiltshire could potentially take his role.

Albeit Dempsey has been pushing up onto the wing in recent weeks, so there could be a learning curve there, but he's got the talent to do it.

He reminds me a bit of Dempsey circa 2022. Next year he'll get some chances, while 2026 could be the breakout.

If we think the VFL is all about development ..then id say that shows we are thin under Neale. I could see us looking to bring someone in at some stage as its probably going to take years to develop someone...

Edit Fost going off ..so now really thin.

Knevitt on the buzzer with the run down tackle

Hardie had 31
Knevitt with 25

Clohesy 21 and 12 tackles

Good win!!!

Go Catters

A lot to like about this game besides the win

Knevitt continues to show his talent
Humphries and Wiltshire showing plenty
Hardie and Stevens both looked good in the midfield
Clohesy is a machine
Rohan looks a class above
He certainly did (as he should I suppose). As usual didn’t get the ball much but i do like it that he has same intensity in VFL as AFL.

Begs the question though how he gets back to the AFL. The only way in my mind is taking one of the Ollie’s out? Rohan (despite coaching hints) doesn’t play any other role other than that pressure forward - doesn’t have tank for further up ground.

But I just can’t see why you take one of the Ollie’s out unless they have consistent form drop - not just one bad game. For Ollie H, I can’t see that happening as he (like Rohan) is a low possession player so his form is about effort (crashing packs) and finish - which will come and go in game but be good enough over time. Ollie D I suppose could drop off. He had a quiet first half last week (to be fair so did Close and others in the end given HHF were not needed!) but showed in second half his value to team defence and link play.

So then you go to rotation, but frankly if no injuries we already have so many players to rotate…including those names you (and me) liked today and the 3 emergencies for AFL today (and Guthrie)

I know super Ted is versatile enough to play forward for midfield, but how did he register a hit out?
Didn’t see it. To be fair the cameraman was making his debut so we did spend a bunch of minutes with no vision of actual play. Maybe the stats guys off the tv vision were just having fun filling in the blanks

Dempsey is playing good minutes on the wing and using his tank to get way back deep into our defensive 50 to help out.

So Dempsey for Rohan would only work if someone else was pushed into playing Dempsey's role (maybe Close, although he kind does this already anyway).

Ollie Henry is the clear like for like with Rohan.

Ahh well, it's good to have options, I guess.
