Bassett would be good although I'm wary of more ex players in the box. Shame we let Goody go, although he's probably also a bit fresh out of the AFC system. Someone out of the Geelong or Collingwood system would be good as well.

Good luck to Todd. He is definitely a Melbourne Football Club man so while it's sad to see him go, it'll be good for him to get back to his old club.

Interesting though that he's not in an official coachin role when I thought his ambitions were to be a head coach.

Yeh well who says how long Baiely will last.

Very poor timing. He should have done it before Goody signed up with the Bombers.
Apart that I'm am okay with his leaving the club. He's good mates with Gary Lyon so I'm wondering are Melbourne preparing for Gary Lyon to become their senior coach.
Any case good luck to him and his family.
If Brenton Sanderson doesn't get the job at Geelong I would love the club to chase him.
Is Brad Johnson interested in a coaching role?
Brett Kirk would make an interesting assistant coach if he left his AFL role.

I'm more than happy for Goodwin to be an assistant coach at Essendon. I'm particularly glad that he did NOT land an assistant coaching job at Adelaide.

That's nothing against Goodwin. It's just my belief that he needs to get out of Adelaide and to experience another club's culture & procedures in order to make him a better qualified coach by the time we pull him back to the nest.

Harper said it was disappointing Adelaide wasn't able to make a play for retired skipper Simon Goodwin, who has joined Essendon as an assistant, but that the Crows would ideally like an assistant from outside the walls of West Lakes to complement the likes of former players Clarke, Mark Bickley and Ben Hart.

"Todd brought us some great experience. He's been in the caper for six years full time and there's a lot more to it than just sitting in the box on match day. We'd really like someone who is experienced - that would be a key thing for us," Harper said.

Pretty good to hear we are looking outside of Adelaide again, nice to get a different perspective on things.

I was half joking when I asked for Bassett. I think he'd probably like to stay with Norwood a little longer, and it probably would be in everyone's interest to let him get a bit more experience. I also agree we need less former Crows in the box.

However I'd hate to see us leave it too long and he goes elsewhere - he's clearly has a lot of potential...

disspointng to lose Todd, however all the best to Todd

timing is a slight concern as many coaching panels have been finalised..

I would target Ricky MacGowan and bring him back home from Hawthorn, Brett Kirk woulld be another work looking at.

Re Goody, IMO within the next 2-3 years he will be the next senior coach at the AFC, as a result its a good thing that Goody has stepped outside the club to develop the required competencies for a senior role.

Is Brett Kirk interested in coaching?

I would hope that we were in his ear as soon as he announced his retirement, couldn't imagine a better guy to have at a footy club.

I get the feeling that Bassett will want to continue on with what he's started at Norwood, but if he's keen then I'd be more than happy for him to replace Viney.

He's probably doing too well in the media to want to coach at this stage, but I'd throw the kitchen sink at Tom Harley to get him over. Like Kirk, I reckon he'd be a brilliant guy to have around the club.

Hmmm...Kirk and Harley would reek of awesomeness :D

Rumours on 5AA that the coaches box hasnt been a totally happy environment between some individuals.
interesting, well, Craig and Bickley are on the field so it can't be them

So is it Noble vs Viney, Noble vs Hart or Viney vs Hart?

Far out Todd chasing fame & fortune much??

What's that now three different clubs in 4 years?
Kids either wanted to be with friends and wanted back to Melbourne (the city)
or Todd is pissing his kids off for his own selfish purpose

Perhaps Todd realised it was now almost certain that Jack would be playing for Melbourne and wanted to get there early so that A) Jack could get used to living in Melbourne again, and B) Todd could grease the pathway to AFL for him?
