Obviously it was part of the memory wipe we had over summer though.
First day back at training for pre-season 2023.
Nicks, to players:
"Welcome fellas, good to see you all back.
Before we start I want to hand you over to Agent J, UHH, I mean, James.
He's got something to show you..."

I assume it's clearing the area. If you need more than that maybe google might be able to help.

Fair point

Clearance: Credited to the player who has the first effective disposal in a chain that clears the stoppage area, or an ineffective kick or clanger kick that clears the stoppage area.

so a turnover kick can also be a clearance.

Stats you practically have to watch a replay with the stats in your hand and go there’s that stat put a line thru that it’s rubbish, right nxt nah look where that went put a line thru that, from a point kick out put a line thru that

Not good enough, but clearly our best performance for the year against possibly the most in form side in the comp.

We came into this game as the most underperformed and out of form side in the comp so to finally show anything at all, for me was a bit encouraging at least.
When I read the above, I thought, "Oh PLEASE. Where do you and jenny61_99 get this optimism?".
Then I read on ...
Finals are way gone but soon we'll play teams that are beatable by our standard, and we'll move up the ladder to find our rightful position in the mid to high bottom 10. Yay Crows. :(

Yes, I hate football now.
That, is more like it :thumbsu::sneaky:.

My own expectations of the Crows and mood are like the demeanour of an Undertaker,
EXCEPT
not as cheerful. Think:

I usually watch the Nicks presser, but cannot be bothered this time.
It'll be:
--- "there are lots of positives from this game" (means: I won't be dropping any senior players)
--- "we have several players not in good form" (means: I don't trust the kids to do any better, see above)
--- "when we executed our game plan, we looked good in patches but didn't take our chances" (means: my game plan is great, but the players didn't perform).

Was I close?

There is, i believe an article about it, i just can't find it.

the commentators talked about Dawson being stuck on the bench for 5 minutes towards the end of the last qtr.

Probably didn't make a difference but i didn't see if it was happening.
Ch.7 commentators mentioned it a few times, said it was 6 minutes, and there were a few cuts to Dawson looking anxious on the boundary (from memory Keays was on his rhs, waiting too).

I think everyone down on McHenry and his 10 disposals and 2 tackles in 4 quarters of AFL football rotating mid and half forward is sorely under rating his pre-game rev up to the group
you funny, wascally wabbit, you! :sneaky:

McHenry has contributed more when sub in previous games.
As for the pre-game rev-up, I doubt many were taking it in .
McHenry: "Let's huff and puff and blow this mob down!!"
Tex (pretending to pay attention to Ned), to Rachele next to him: "Make sure you don't get in the way of any of my leads".

Later: 7.17 to play, 14 points down:

Yeah, I'm sure the entire playing group are massive fans of that miniature poodle yapping pre-game.

Dawson was yelling at Ned to come off at least twice. Daws forgetting that a chicken with no head can’t hear.

Finally Cook did the right thing and came off but it was too late by then and the game was over.

Ignoring his captain is a great team first quality for McHeary to display. His name is McHeary now, Neg McHeary.

He didn’t even want to come on, just wanted Ned off.

Funny - Rachele spoiling Walker with arguably the greatest inside 50 kick from Rankine. 🤦🏽‍♂️ beautiful low trajectory drop punt to Tex…..
I wonder why Tex didn’t communicate better and tell Rachele to faaaaaaaaaaark off out the way.

Why on earth did Rachele swat the ball away, why not try to just mark the thing if he wants the ball in his hands so much?

He’s incredibly soft.

Running backwards with the flight of the ball and jumping to try and mark it, without knowing whats coming to crash into you, is about as far from “soft” as you can get..

Squibbing contests like laird and smith have been doing a far bit of lately.. thats soft.

To me it looks like we are sucking the life out of this side, we don’t appear to be taking the first option we are thinking to much not playing on instincts

You know you have coaching problems when your captain and best ball user and decision maker is burning an obvious handball option to instead wobble off the wrong foot 40 degrees from target for an OOB free in the opening passage of play.

That analogy may work for a household budget but we have a team chock full of spuds and a salary cap that has a “minimum spend” setting..

We have to blow some money on caviar to meet that minimum spend.. and we’ve had nothing else worthy of spending it on for a few years now!

No we don't, 'minimum spend' is a fallacy propagated by idiots. If the talent isn't in the list, you don't just blow the money, you front load contracts so the $ remain available in the future.

Love it. People on here blaming the young guys. Some supporters don’t deserve a talent like Rachele playing for them.
