I am in agreement that finals should be played at the SCG but I would be interested in why you think it is impossible to fix the surface at ANZ. It might be in an unfit state now but surely a decent groundsman could fix it if given some time.
Because the groundsmen have to try and prepare it for so many different things throughout the year. Im sure they have had decent groundsmen over the years, but it has been atrocious the whole time and had many complaints throughout that period too.
Before the Essendon result, when I posted that, there was still a chance.

Stick a fork in our top 4 hopes but it was always highly unlikely anyway. The boys better come out in 2018 and go 10-0 to make up for the handicap which, let's be honest, we placed on ourselves. I just want us to win at least one final this year at the very minimum.
