Autopsy Sydney Legacy in Grand Finals continues 10 goal loss to the Lions

There are 7 other clubs that have won flags since we have.
I didn’t say who had many flags?
I said who enjoyed as much success over that period compared with the majority, which in my view is broader than just flags when you’re making a comparison

Only Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond and Collingwood have won multiple flags. Just about everyone else (14 clubs) can easily be argued as having less success than us over that period.

This board has officially jumped the shark. There's simply no excuse for this pathetic nonsense. Maybe these "happy clappers" are the real fans after all. You are free to not enjoy next season. You don't have to watch at all, but that just makes you a prime example of a fair weather fan, which is what everyone accuses us of anyway.

We lose a grand final and the ****ing sky falls in. All you geniuses saying you won't watch next season, you won't enjoy the wins, you won't renew your membership, the club is an embarrassment, you want the team gutted, you want the team to get down on their knees and apologise - you're a disgrace and certainly not to be counted on when the chips are down. ****ing entitled drama queens. I get being disappointed, but this reaction had been so far over the top that it's actually insane. Pathetic pathetic pathetic.
I understand your point but we didn’t just “lose a grand final”. We were humiliated in a Grand Final that was over by half-time and that was after having lost three previous Grand Finals, two of which were also humiliations.

Fans have a right to be p*ssed off about that and are entitled to vent about it.

I had to put all my Swans kit away into draws I never use. It feels like I am going through the worst break up of my life
It's been a terrible week. I booted all my socials and haven't turned on SEN in Melbourne all week. It still doesn't quite feel real that we played like we did again. Wake me up when the game starts.

This, so this.
I love the club, always will love the club and if we had gone down swinging in all four GF's I'd be feeling fine today - I'd still be playing the "if only" game, but I wouldn't have this flat, please let me be dreaming feeling

On Saturday night I was ready to give it away for a year.

Now it's Friday and I wish there was a game tonight.
I am risking it all again, about to hit the road to Sydney to watch the Storm try and win it. Now, there have been 3 occasions where my teams have been in the big one the same year, 2006, 2012, 2016 and it’s been LL WW LL now with last weeks loss the pattern does not look good. why do I do this.

We’re all suckers for punishment. Hellas lost the NPLV Grand Final after also being the dominant team throughout the year.

Yep, as we walked out of the MCG my wife said that that was it, she couldn’t and wouldn’t attend another GF if we happened to get there again. However, a couple of days later she was already softening and looking forward to the possibilities for next season.

Have fun in Sydney!

They haven’t been called pathetic for being upset about a loss, it’s about being irrational about it and throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Can’t agree it’s a bit much, this place is currently a cesspit of negativity, I don’t mind someone calling it out when I would describe some of the extreme posts “a bit much”. I have personally held back from posting this past week because the relentless negativity and some irrational posting has been a bit much for me.

Each to their own. Just give a thumbs down and scroll on.
Well I for one have posted quite a few posts venting about Saturday’s performance but I don’t think any could be described as ‘irrational’.

Mind you, having supported the club for nearly 40 years and, for example, having sat through the early 90s and attended every home game during the 26 game losing streak, anyone who wants to describe me as a “fair weather supporter” because I’ve had a bit of a vent can go **** themselves 😏.

Cool.

Venting ≠ irrational exclusively. I never said it did.

I didn’t mention any specific person and you didn’t come to mind FWIW. And I didn’t call anyone “fair weather” either, for that matter.

I have a similar timeline of following the Swans.

Yeah, sorry, the quotation marks were more general quotations 😀

Love your postings!

I think it's important to separate the fact that we got our shit rocked on Saturday from the fact that Harley, Pridham etc still have a job to do, and in reality, still run a very successful football club.

Sure, we failed to secure the ultimate measure of success in an embarrassing way again, but there are 100's of people in the footy club who work hard every day to make it a success and they deserve to be celebrated as well.

I think they're more than capable of spruiking membership numbers etc whilst still focusing on getting better next year.
This!

I feel our admin have done everything they can - short of possibly asking some hard questions of our coaching department - to make us a successful club. Harley & Pridham oversaw the transformation of our club's facilities, which Brodie Grundy mentioned as one factor in his decision to join the club (among others, obviously.) Are we as good on field without Grundy this year? Probably not. They get our membership up which boosts crowd numbers. Many players have gone on record saying that the crowd atmosphere this year was a factor in getting them over the line in certain games (among others.)

So I feel that whilst they're obviously in charge of a different department of the club's management, they are doing such a good job of managing the club that it's bleeding into the football department and even helping there.

You hear that robbieando? That's the work bell, your shift has started

The club is run as a business for the benefit of the football department.

If the football department does not live up to expectations then the business side will cop flak in response, deserved or not.

Here is last year’s annual report, off a quick glance it seems that it is our best position ever. Having the RHI is something that is a huge step up compared to our pre COVID highs.

But I’m sure the accountants on the board would be willing to share their thoughts, paging GotTheGoodes in particular.

Edit: But it appears we lost close to $5 million last season which was related to the move in for RHI. Really interested in this year’s annual report as this will be the first “normal” year since 2019.
