Europe War in Ukraine - Thread 4 - thread rules updated

This is the thread for discussing the War in Ukraine. Should you want to discuss the geopolitics, the history, or an interesting tangent, head over here:

If a post isn't directly concerning the events of the war or starts to derail the thread, report the post to us and we'll move it over there.

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

Love to know how many boats Russia has lost

More damage caused by fragments of missiles that were shot down by Russia. So unlucky......

Or they are not trying to escalate it and give Putin propaganda points.

Not according to this.

The US thinks it will prevent them from normalising relations with Russia in the future.

Its sweet the US thinks the Kremlin and Putin will want to be buddy buddy with them. Idiots.

Russian state TV, usually parroting the party line, are accepting the occupation of Sudhza in their reporting. This for me is equivalent to breaking a defence line. More reality will likely seep into the Russian ARG.

Big risk maintaining false reality nationwide- once the truths build up too much, the RF can choose to look treacherous either by adopting reality and admitting you'd previously always lied, or you can continue to nuh-uh in the face of mounting revelations.

Either way, the ground will likely swell.

The middle ground of "yes, but" is the only other RF option, and if it fails, the result is both revelations are compounded - lied + still lying.

The destruction of the ship full of fuel tank train cars at a port in the Kerch Strait yesterday will hamper Russia’s ability to supply troops and the Crimean peninsula with fuel and lubricants, according to the Ukrainian Navy and the popular Crimean Wind Telegram channel. As we reported yesterday, the Conro Trader, a Russian Roll On Roll Off (RORO) vessel with a reported 30 fuel tank cars aboard, erupted in a ball of flames at the Port of Kavkaz.

The Conro Trader “sank after an attack on August 22 in the port of Kavkaz, paralyzing the work of the Kerch ferry crossing for an indefinite period,” the Telegram channel stated. “Fuel is not being delivered to Crimea via the Kerch Bridge by rail, as the structures are weakened after the explosion on the bridge and the burning freight train. There are also concerns that the train carrying fuel could be hit by a missile. Therefore, our advice, Crimeans, remains the same: stock up on fuel. Or switch to electric transport.”

The article also discusses other parts of the war.

From Siberian Express TG

(Apologies for formatting. Learning how to paste from Telegram to Bigfooty). Edit: fixed

Basically, Russians convicted of sexual violence crimes can choose to enlist for the SVO and the charges are pretty much swept under the carpet.

One man threatened to behead girls who resisted, and now RF soldiers are beheading POWs. Nope, can't see any links there. Defoes not a criminal career pathway.

Buryat coach suspected of raping girl with cerebral palsy and mental disability leaves for "special operation"

A girl diagnosed with cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities attended swimming lessons at a pool in Ulan-Ude. The trainer prescribed massage sessions for her, during which he repeatedly r*ped the student, her mother told State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Markhayev (CPRF).

" The rapist was arrested, but left for the SVO before the trial. Did he have such a right, asks the victim's mother ," Markhayev noted in his Telegram channel. "The defendant was charged under articles for rape and threats to kill, but the documents for his departure to the SVO indicate a much lighter article, for which a fine usually follows. A mistake or forgery , the woman asks to sort this out."

Markhayev was one of the few parliamentarians who publicly criticized the law, which allows suspects in serious crimes to be released for participating in a “special operation.”

"When the bill was passed, according to which defendants and convicts are sent to the SVO today, I spoke at a State Duma session with a proposal not to give such an opportunity for a number of serious crimes, including rapists and pedophiles. A colleague in the faction, State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev was outraged at the same session that criminals are sent to assault units, in which normal guys, paratroopers, serve. In the Great Patriotic War, there were separate penal battalions for them," writes Markhaev.

Another State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Oleg Mikhailov, also feared the consequences of the criminals' return: "Following the officials who stole, rapists and murderers will be sent to the SVO. Having received such an indulgence, these people can then calmly return to society, only with post-traumatic syndrome, and live next to us."

The bill was adopted by the votes of United Russia, the LDPR and A Just Russia - For Truth.

Only representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation voted against the law. The New People faction did not vote.

In Novosibirsk, fighter Sergei Shakhmatov, who returned from a "special operation", has already been convicted of sexualized violence against two schoolgirls - he threatened them with a grenade and promised to cut off their heads. In Transbaikalia, combat participant Tsyren-dorzhi Tsyrenzhapov was found guilty of murdering a 22-year-old girl (before the "special operation", he was imprisoned for the murder and dismemberment of an 18-year-old). Other relapses are also known.

A monument to Stalin is erected in Krasnoyarsk city [link]. Down the road in not so distant Novosibirsk, up goes a memorial to Prigozhin [link].

Has Russia ever heard of continuity?

Slowly taking territory in Donestk?

At the expense of Russia becoming an international pariah state, 610,000 Russian casualties & an economy that's so much of a shambles that Putin relies on war to stop it from collapsing completely.

What a great win that is for Putin.

The war will ruin the Russian economy/they need the war to stop the economy collapsing? Whether true or not it puts your rhetoric in a bind

Ukraine's attacks on Russian oilfields must be really screwing Russia up big time as there is no way that Russia would even contemplate an agreement to halt strikes on energy infrastructure. They wouldn't be doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Not like they would adhere to any agreement anyway. Just like their BS propaganda on looking at negotiations to end the war. Every word below is true even if vatniks don't want to accept it.

Refineries not fields, but yeh it's hurting Russia. Energy is the big one in this war(and all modern wars really), gas deals/refineries/power stations(nuclear) are where the pressure points are for both sides
