An interesting comparison is Josh kennedy http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/J/Josh_Kennedy0.html

A few things stand out
1. The dramatic improvement across the board between Josh Kennedy at Carlton and Josh at West Coast. This firmly debunks the theory that a change in clubs/coaches/culture/environment cannot have a positive impact on a player.
2 Liam never performed as badly as Josh did in his first two years
3 Liams stats are not trending in the right direction whereas Josh is going from strength to strength

This tells me that he has the talent.
It also tells me 'something" has gone wrong with his career. Was it development/opportunity/culture/confidence at the Dogs? Or was it his attitude?

In any case I cant tell either way until he puts the Navy Blue on in earnest. Equally those that prefer to bag him and his attitude/laziness cant tell either. I am not sure why they would prefer to argue in a negative fashion .

Who is bagging Jones - apart from Dishlickers ?

The Jesse White comparison seems fair...
Nah, don't think it is fair.

Jesse White was never a key tall... he was just the height of one.

Jesse White also underperformed in a year where Cloke sucked and Ben Reid barely hit the park.

Good effort on putting this together. I have to say though, you can really look at these stats in a vacuum. You gotta look at it in perspective. What roles were they playing in their first few years? What role were they playing following this? Who were the players surrounding them? Who did they play? When did their bodies develop to maturity? What has the clubs development for that player been like?

Theres a lot of variables that affect the stats. None of us I would argue have watched the Dogs keenly enough to know what the situation has been over at the Dogs internally or on field to know what has affected him there. Just having a quick look, he had Barry Hall in 2010 and 2011. Liam Jones didnt play his first year. Josh Kennedy did. Liam didnt play his first game until round 18, 2010, well into his 2nd season. Liam was 17. Josh was 18. 2011 he played 20 games so for his first full season that would have tired him towards the back end.

I think we just need to sit back and wait to see what he delivers.

Kennedy was picked #4, Jones #32

I don't think this is a relevant comparison.

Would be like comparing Buddy or Roughhead to a late second round pick.

Does not compute.

Not even slightly funny.

If he was the only one in the team not performing, maybe it might make some sense to have a crack. Not sure a forward line of Franklin, Cameron, Kennedy, Le Cras, Betts and Pavlich could have scored enough to get us into the top 8 given how the rest of the team are playing. Very hard to kick goals with so few opportunities and such poor delivery when we do get the ball. Plenty of places to look other than a forward line starved of chances to do their job.

Just a nasty blog written by someone who has most likely never played the game at AFL level.

Apparently the Dogs tried that in one of his many seasons with them. And he was even shitter (yes apparently possible).

I don't get why we thought if he was no good at the Dogs he'd be alright with us.
Maybe they should try him out in a number of positions with the NB's to find his least shittiest position
