West Coast or Adelaide - Who is better placed?

Adelaide IMO. Still have 7 of the best 22 to come in as well. More upside
Couldn't believe it was 7 but looked it up

Walker - massive upgrade on Pods
Lynch - moderate upgrade as 3rd tall forward
NVB - captain, defensive mid, very hand
Grigg, Otten, B. Crouch, Henderson - slight upgrades at least but definitely shows you have some depth as a lot of the guys in at these positions were pretty good today

Walker is the huge one. He's the one who would truly result in winning games you may have lost with him missing. The rest would help but I'm not sure they'd fix all the crows woes. Adelaide are an interesting side to watch, I'm still thinking that along with West coast both teams just miss the 8 but who knows things could change.

I've said it before, I don't see West Coast's list going anywhere. Cox is a superstar but he won't be apart of their next premiership, nor will Glass.

Gaff B

I don't see any Elite players here, not to mention their midfielders are all short people. This is not even close to a premiership winning midfield and it wont win them big games, especially since Cox wont be there to save them. When it's not their day, guys like Gaff put in gutless performances which are just not acceptable at this level. O'Meara, Wines, Crouch, Macrae, Kelly, Dunstan, all who I think will go on to be elite players. West Coast don't have any young guns as good as these guys, will have to wait on Sheed and Bennell who are probably long term projects. McKenzie is a great get for them but one great CHB won't save them. Nic Nat isn't 100% but he is extremely overrated in terms what certain people think he is worth in $. Their list is Carlton-esque.

Showing your lack of knowledge again.

Bennell is a 23 year-old defender, not a long term midfield prospect. Our list is absolutely nothing like Carlton's, not even close to being remotely similar. One thing's for sure, we're definitely in a better position than Adelaide.

I have nfi about Bennell, I searched him up and he said mid, will admit that. Other than that you are kidding yourself, your midfield is full of peahearts just like Carlton.

What a pile of rubbish.

You begin by suggesting Wc lack midfield talent - that's fine. Your grading of our midfielders individually seems reasonable. But you also overlook the fact that half that list is 24 or younger and are still improving. Isn't that an important consideration? I'm not suggesting that the midfield group is premiership-worthy but at least represent it properly.

Secondly, to suggest our list is 'Carlton-esque' is stupid for a number of reasons. Not least because their midfield is their only relative strength. These are the quality players you've chosen to overlook in your assessment:

Hurn
LeCras
Cox
Kennedy
Glass
Darling

A pretty strong list of 6 players. But sure, jump straight t Naitanui is overpaid, the midfield has no elite players and declare the entire list a write-off ;).

No bias here at all. Crouch is not anywhere near Shuey's level at this point.

Glass spoils to the advantage of Smith who unloads a long bomb down the throat of Dangerfield who storms through two tackles and handballs in the direction of Kennedy who offers a brilliant smart short pass to Le Cras who lines up, 45 degree angle 35 metres out.

Maybe swap Le Cras and Kennedy around, WCE fans can decide.

Lecca would be more likely to nail the pass, probably the best footskills in our side - but in reality, Lecca would be probably just be having a ping himself :p

This thread is like Gina Rinehart and Ajay Rochester (2014 version) arguing about who is hotter.

Both lists are far from it, but aren't as bad as Carlton or Richmond.

West Coast have been smashed by injuries and Crows have been smashed by expansion clubs and average trade deals.

Crows top 5 are better, but West Coasts next 10 are better than the Crows' so at present West Coast are the better side, but that will change going forward (until Dangerfield comes to Geelong) if the rest of the Crows players can catch up.

What makes you say that? Can you elaborate on specific players?

Who are the Crows top 5?

Dangerfield, Walker, Sloane...?

Some handy players at WC.

Talia and Douglas.

But then again our best yesterday were Smith & Mackay, so our "best" 3 midfielders were reasonably quiet. Then we've still got the ever reliable Thompson who isn't even in our top 4 midfielders, and perhaps not even in our top 8 overall, which makes us look better than people are suggesting.

A reasonable top 5. I wouldn't say that it is definitively better than ours, mind. Or that our next 10 are definitively better than yours. Etc.

The real point of difference in Adelaide's favour is that you have a genuine game breaking midfielder in Dangerfield and we do not. But then you don't have Naitanui, you only have one good key forward to our two etc.

Since we're 3-1 and you're 1-3 I'll say we're better placed.:)

If we're talking about 2014 thus far then Dangerfield is nowhere near the top 5.

Of coarse they want their soulless cash cow to make the finals, same applies for us. It seems every year the two clubs get an easy draw after a poor season with a hard draw.

Why would the AFL give a shit if WC or Adelaide made the finals? We are cash cows because we make money whether we're 1st and hosting Collingwood on Friday night or 18th playing GWS on Sunday twlilight.

The AFL want finals in Victoria involving Victorian teams playing one another. A city buzzing and an 80k+ crowd at the 'G makes for a happy AFL house.

I prefer "two bald men fighting over a comb". I'd like to think that this year is a stand-up-and-be-counted year. If our players won't do that, we need to get some who will.

What a load of crap. He's injured at the moment and clearly not at his best but "nowhere near top 5" ? Geez you must rate our list :thumbsu:
If he's injured he wouldn't be playing, yes? Unless Sanderson and the fitness staff are playing injured players which is a pretty irresponsible thing to do.

I'd the following players ahead of Dangerfield, in terms of what they provide for the team in 2014 so far:
Sloane
Smith
Wright
Betts
Jacobs
Jaench
Thompson
Brown

And no I don't particularly rate it, but there is some great top end talent there.
