CAN BIG DEREK STILL

ONE?

That's a bit to ask considering the Mayne, Witt, Williams and Wells debacles
No to belabour those deals, but they represent differing categories in my view.

Mayne: we got for nothing but debacle agreed as to length of contract and cited salary package.

Witts: agree nonsense that a club wanted a number one ruck and we gave him away for minimal cost, though we might have been hampered by Witts going, still nonsense outcome for us.

Williams: disagree with you on this one, we were ready to move him on, my understanding no real takers, we were ready to delist and North was happy to punt on him and player was happy going there. so we took essentially "nothing" from North, to facilitate player getting to his club of choice, than plopping him in draft etc. good will gesture to Williams with the pink slip so to speak. My understanding no other club wanted him, which says something very clearly. North took risk but only for "free."

Wells: cost nothing, free agent. except salary cap space. I'd vehemently argue worth the risk and worth every dollar. Even happy for three years as the risk worth it. With Pendlebury our most skilful player. Sublime skills. The way he makes decisions quickly and accurately. We got ten games from him won 7 drew 1. I'd like to get to 17 or 18 games as minimum but even 10 a season worth it. Sensational player wish we had him five years ago.
For what it's worth, it's highly silly for people to ever put the words "Wells" and "Mayne" in the same sentence (which ofcourse is ironic as I just did just that).

Is the title and OP change a result of Spatfers admitting he was wrong or the mods changing it for him?

Good change either way.
I'm guessing, because the original title was a bit on the ill mannered side.
A little decorum doesn't go astray.

I can't agree with your take on Williams. Us wanting to get rid of him doesn't change whether the deal was good or bad.

We did the little shit a favour.

No club wanted him besides North, but only for free or they'd go for him late in the draft.
Nobody wants you that's all one needs to know.

Deal was "fine" because all the club did was allow him easy passage to North as a gesture. To say otherwise is not fully appreciating that nobody wanted him, except North would risk him but only at no cost.

So I'm not fussed on Williams.
By best guess is Club had enough of him. Looks like that was general consensus across the board.

For those in the know, who do you rate better on our recruiting/list managing Hine or Judkins and why? Is Judkins still at Essendon after being turfed out of Collingwood in 2014?

Judkins originally came to Cwood from Essendon
I know this but then he was kicked out for sharing sensitive info with Dodoro. But my question is who was better recruiting and list management wise for Collingwood? Hine or Judkins. I remember for awhile people saying Judkins was very good.

Maybe Judkins is related to Hine because for a while people were saying Hine was good :)

You've had way more posts than anyone else on this thread so if it's too long you're the chief culprit
Whatever you say mate. Have a good night.

Pretty sure Judkins originally came to Cwood /was "recruited" by Cwood from Essendon

ESSENDON
Outside of Victoria, the club has one part-timer in all other states, while former recruiting manager Noel Judkins is based in Cairns but is used as a 'video specialist', poring over game tapes and vision to provide his thoughts.

So we got a Forth Round Pick this year (FS points), a 3rd round next year and Murray a line breaking half back for a Second Round next year.

In reflection I actually don't mind this deal. We got 3 for 1.

2017 draft points for FS.

2018 player who Sydney wanted to keep, who had his best year and made the Neafl team of the year (in a role that would suit or Senior side).

and swapped 2nd and 3rd round picks in a good draft next year.

The Question is...

And general opinion about what a poor trade is how many people on this board think Collingwood will slide next year, and Sydney will succeed. I actually think Collingwood will rise next year after so many close loses and more maturity and belief in their fellow teammates and that Sydney will slide well and truly out of the 8. Anyone who thinks the Swans will be a threat to next years finals has rocks in their head.

In reflection, I think it's a good trade, especially as it's the only player we went after for our team structure and gameplan.

You mean This guy....actually knows stuff?...Hardly a Caro is he? Or is he?

AFL,

As opposed to this bloke that Baltimore Jack put up, to be honest I don't rate either of them but I stand by my point there seems to be disagreement in journo circles regarding this trade

Fair enough on Marley but Wells as good as he is he's no good to us if only the park for 9 or 10 games a year - need a minimum 15 if we want to contend

Some would argue that people in the club don't care about the club given some of the off field decisions in the last couple of years
People outside the inner sanctum can argue all they like. It's irrelevant...
