Jenkins and Stevens is longterm?

They are still going for a flag in 2020.
Geelong have taken an each way, topping up with experienced players, but also loading up on early picks to refresh.

Winners
Cats: won draft week reaming West Coast for an uncontracted player, everything else was a bonus
Dogs: got all their targets and kept pick 13
Saints: got all their targets
Lions: got rid of some deadwood and brought in a cream on the cake player poised for a breakout year fairly cheaply, taking a cheap punt on Birchall
North: did some nice work quietly, looks like they got a good deal from Melbourne and Bonar could work out for them

Losers
Crows: obvious candidate
Blues: missed their main targets, can only hope Martin slides to the draft/PSD for them
Port: casualty of clearing the decks I guess
Freo: Hill and Langdon replaced by inferior players in Acres and Aish imo puts them down here, lost the posturing game to St Kilda too, good draft hand still though so not all doom and gloom but will need to find some outside polish at the draft I think
Eagles: gave up far too much for Kelly, trading out of these next two drafts could potentially hurt them in 5+ years time

50-50 on
Melbourne: Langdon and Tomlinson will help them, but they'll need to have a rebound year next year in order for their pick swap with North to work out
Hawthorn: taking a punt on Patton's knee and fixing Frost's error prone game, time will tell if it was a good window or not, but they came cheaply in terms of draft picks I guess

Neither won nor lost
Essendon: kept Daniher, got a depth ruck and a depth flanker, not really a major player like last few years
Collingwood: standard ins and outs regarding depth players
Gold Coast: lost Ah Chee, but got Greenwood, Ellis and a depth ruck in Smith, much better window from them compared to last few, almost a win
Sydney: didn't get Daniher, but kept Papley, cancels each other out I guess
GWS: cleared the decks, but moved up the draft order
Richmond: depth players out, will hit the draft

Saints did well but I think losing Bruce for that price is a bit of a blow.

I think Dogs were best performed, considering their needs. West Coast have elevated their flag chances so they will be happy as well

Bruce got us both Jones and Butler though.

If Max King fills the void (big if I know) then we're in a much better position. In case you didn't notice our midfield is awful.

West Coast and St.Kilda were the winners for mine.

You can never really tell the losers at this stage though I think Carlton would probably be the most disappointed right now. May still work out for them.

I like what the Bulldogs and Saints did. Bulldogs in particular bought in some much needed height for not much out as far as picks. Saints was nice and bold - this trade week could be the making of them.

The Blues, Esendon, Sydney breakdown of the 3 way, feels like a lose-lose-lose, but a lot depends on how Daniher performs next season on who might have 'won'. Carlton can salvage a bit of win if they grab Martin in the PSD, but they have created some bad blood, which can hurt you down the track.

While it seems like Geelong got some good players in cheaply picks wise, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being the biggest loser in this trade week. They have kept an aging Ablett and Taylor and added another two old players in Steven and Jenkins. I mean it could pay off in the short term, but it really has to happen in 20/20. I can see them having a Sydney-like drop in a couple of years.

Losers gotta be Sydney.

Publicly seduced a contracted player without ever having the intention of ponying up enough to get him and left a perfectly reasonable deal for Papley on the table.

Amateur hour.

Collingwood are Losers.

Gain a Back Up Ruck/KPF though can replace Cox by Years End but Lose a Best 22 Player in Aish
Lol, Aish was depth/fringe & you have freed up cap space needed.

Nowhere near the worst... as your list doesn't need changing in a major way.

Loser has to be carlton have 4 nominations and only sign a cooked Betts and an unproven ruck but sos is the guru
Pittonet is a good pick up to be fair.
One of the best rucks in the level below

Cats, Dogs look good at first blush. WCE on first line of flag betting with Tiges.
North did a couple of nice things on the downlow.
Saints paid a high price for Hill and did the right thing by Steven, for them I thought it was good that they had quality players keen to join them, and overall they did pretty well out of the trades.
Carlton seems to be copping a lot of stick, but Papley was always going to be tough to get over the line and (even though I reckon it would be a bit ordinary to do it that way) they can probably still get Martin via the draft. Not ideal, but maybe not as bad as it’s being made out to be.
At an individual level, Harley came across really badly and it’s hard to feel any sympathy for him.

While I agree with you to a certain extent, Geelong got those 2 players for basically nothing while still having a lot of picks. They have a decent hand in the draft for the first time in a long time. The Cats will do what they have been doing for years; being in young talent while giving it a red hot go.

And what if Carlton get Martin for nothing in the PSD? Wouldn't look all that bad in hindsight.
Don't GC have a pick before Carlton?

Otherwise why wouldn't the Dees take Martin?

How are WCE's winners?? They gave up so much for Kelly, if anything they came out equal on that trade.
If it's the difference for winning a flag, then it's a win for West Coast.

All chips in...

I think North should be commended for what they got done with a skeleton crew. The whole club is transitioning and the Melbourne trade was very smart, moved all the draft cache to next year when we'll have more players out of contract and a better understanding of our list and with Brady Rawlings in command.
