The team is going no where. That is abundantly clear to all, even management. I think the board have just breathed a sigh of relief that at 5 and 6 they still have that "mathematical" chance and the drop off in crowds, interest and increase in supporter and media heat has been pushed out for another month or so. By July when we are 6 and 9 the drums will really start beating. 2 thirds into the season, with all hope lost will be a far more palatable and justifiable time to openly discuss replacing Hinkley in the boards thinking.
I have been tipping at the 6-11 stage, is when the maths says we can't make it and the club pulls out the sword. Rd 18 is Melbourne in Alice Springs. I can't see us winning that game at this stage.

Freo kept Melbourne to only one goal for the second half, and NIL goals for over an hour. Our defence isn't that good, even though our forwardline without any further injuries, will be a lot better than the Rd 4 game v Melbourne at AO.

Honestly, what a gutless way to run a concern that turns over $50 million a year. Waiting for a 'more palatable' time to do what they should've done years ago. It's beyond a joke.
Modern day pro football - PR spin is as important as a star CHF, and there is more politics in AFL football than Canberra.

Whateley this morning called it commendable to be 5 & 6 after the start to the year we had.. I'm fukced why all metrics and logic take a holiday when it comes to Ken.
Its a fair comment for the media to make, because its very rare to go from 0-5 to 5-6.

BUT and its a big BUT, why wasn't the heat applied for all the loses after the Brisbane one, and why the pandering after last year's PF loss?

.....
Almost as rare as going from 11-4 to 12-10. That really takes some kind of superhero.

It might be rare but this is a side coming off two prelims expected to be sitting high in the 8, with three of those five wins coming against the absolute trash of the competition.. do they not examine the wins?

Fanbois don't do that sort of stuff.

Still think we need to sack him before the end of the year.
Gives a bit more time to find a coach for next year. Gives the players time to get over him going and a new voice being around etc.
I still struggle with the whole players want to stay at port and play under him.

Needs to be sacked b4 they wake up and want out.

the satisfaction that is coming from the club for a miraculous comeback from 0-5 is sickening

and quite frankly worrying

is no-one down there saying hang on we beat up on 2 shite sides, and the other 3 wins are hardly convincing.

ken sees to have them all under his spell.

Why is 0-5 even glossed over?

So it’s Ken’s heroics for going 5-6
But it’s not Ken’s fault for going 0-5

Hinkley has always maintained that he should only ever be judged on his wins.

It’s far from a lottery or dice roll.

It’s a decision that requires knowledge of where the game is going, knowledge of one’s list and knowledge of the personality of the applicant.

That’s where it may fail as the people making the decisions are currently showing they aren’t up to it.

I think the past is known, Ken's had 10 years, it's not happening. The future is a lotto.

You would have thought Neeld or Sanderson or Teague or these guys knew where the game was going based on their past.

But the secret sauce is far more complex than that, it takes player buy-in and an injury free run and emotion and so on (priority picks , father son picks) and when it all mixes you have a winner.

looking at the draw before round 1, 7-4 at the absolute minimum would've been acceptable. 5-6 is lolwothy.
7-4 would have been sackable without a massive second half of the year. 7-4 is good team drifting in to also ran finals series.

5-6 is mindblowingly bad and almost impossible with the list and draw we have had. I genuinely think a literal hamster in the box would have us at 6-5.

yeah but they would've sold the no dixon and early injuries story and idiots would've bought it, same as how idiots are somehow buying that 5-6 from 0-5 is a good result at the bye. but yeah you're right at 7-4 would've required an 04 like second half of year for most of us semi knowledgeable fans.

I don't want there to be opportunity for Ken to be given a send off game. You just know that Kochsucker will orchestrate such a game.
i cant understand why we would even consider it.. **** him, hes sacked and the moment he is he can walk straight out the door never to return.

Fancy wanting to back slap this clown, yeah thanks kenny, you have done so much for the club apparently,

what has this club become?

another propaganda piece from the Alberton Boys Club

"Port Adelaide's response to the 0-5 start should promote confidence that the football program - and the people in command in the football division - are sound. They have kept alive a season that began with disaster. They have put Port Adelaide back in the frame to compete for a finals berth."

We're so lucky that Kenny Hinkley rode in to Alberton when we were 0-5 and saved us.
