Positives
-The last quarter fightback
-Darling was magnificent leading the forwardline
-Petch was good after half time
-Kelly and Ryan work rate was well up even if their skill execution let them down
-Barrass continues to put himself in AA discussions

Negatives
-Culley had a day from hell and will be done for the season with that hammy
-Some key composure moments cost us the win
-My kingdom for someone who can defend small forwards

Good effort and resilience to turn the game on its head. Nearly got there too.

Barrass and Darling were huge.

Hurn great too. Definitely earned another year with a consistent season.

Redden solid in midfield.

Petrol with 3 goals and Ryan with 2 were both very handy.

Rioli had some magical moments.

Jones takes the game on, despite errors here and there.

Bailey another shocker. Nic unfit and heavy.

Culley with a brain fart. Lucky his suspension will correspond with a injury. Hopefully we see him again this year after a promising couple of games.

Better than I expected. Pretty happy considering.

...well.

Positives
  • Jack Darling. Beast mode on what was ultimately limited opportunity.
  • Petch/Cripps/Rioli/Ryan in everything as the game went on. Needed more from this group to half time and they stepped up. Petch's second half was tremendous.
  • Barrass, so good.
  • Hurn/Shuey/Redden some of our most influential. Good and bad in way, given their age profile, but if the old boys play then at least they've played well.
  • Naitanui/TK/Shuey/Rioli in that fourth term midfield
  • Jamaine Jones, what a loveable prick. Attacks every contest with the intent of either winning the footy or burying someone, and whenever he gets it its going forward no matter what. Such a point of difference to the usual approach.
  • What a comeback. That would have been an absolute steal after trailing by five goals in the fourth. Fair play to them for getting on a roll and makes you think this team still has plenty of footy in them when it clicks, now we just need to get it clicking more often.
Negatives
  • Suns probably have some they'd want back too but, given we were so efficient inside 50, there were still several goals we'd want back. What could have been
  • Won the third quarter decisively but only chipped five points off the margin. Almost a game decider there.
  • Edwards still just learning not he job, going to be tough going.
  • Culley - quiet, injured and belted a bloke. A very poor arvo unfortunately, hope the injury isn't too bad but even if the suspension isn't a season ender I'm bordering on shutting him down because we don't need to mess around with early career hamstrings.
  • Second half was much better but we are missing a Shep or even Cole so badly. Lock down small is nowhere to be found on this list.
  • Williams very quiet, toiled away on leads but largely ineffective. Needed to kick his goal.
  • We're our own worst enemy so many times during the Suns best period. Fumbles, kicks smothered after a mark, missing easy handballs. Butchery at its finest in some instances.
  • Umpiring a disgrace. We were doing the live call so didn't hear what the commentators had to say but the amount of times there'd be a free kick and without the audio I'd have absolutely no idea what it was for, or see Shuey getting mauled and consistently receive nothing, was maddening. We did enough to ourselves to cost us that one despite the comeback, but even with all our self inflicted wounds I think we were about one or two normal umpiring calls away from winning that.
Interesting times. Gave the corridor up too easily for stretches, but also the desire and the effort in the second half was phenomenal. There's plenty to work with here, but it's just going to have some frustrating bumps along the way.

Positive we actually fought and tried for four quarters (albeit Gold Coast thought it was already over in the fourth which let us in).

Negs umpire's are ****ing ****ed, we have zero ability to contain Small forwards (and quality small backs), Tall defenders constantly spoiling each other OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN (that's a basic communication skill that should have been resolved after one incident), skills are generally poor, some selections are still questionable, Culley hammy and report.

Edit Neg Nic Nat dominates taps but rarely hits it to advantage, yet another thing that coaching staff seem to be too scared to address.

What an odd call. He's the best tap ruckman in the league and spoon fed us clearance after clearance in the fourth quarter?

positives
second half
petrol. That is what i would like to see more of.
J.J. seems to have grown into the role. When he makes good decisions good things happen.

negatives
first half.so many bad turnovers which resulted in goals.
Culley.if he hadn't got inured then the report.

Positives
We ran it out to the end
Darling awesome
Forward line good

Negatives
Umpires free kicks go a long way to helping you win the game
Too many clearances for the suns Millar Rowell killed us
We keep losing its becoming a habit for the club

Oh well bring in next year

Shuey spent some time starting off the HBF, which is massive for us going forward. Similarly, TK with some time on the HFF, and Exxon started the game the middle.

After last week's Gaff HFF and Redden wings, I'm letting myself believe that they're moving towards getting the kids involved in the middle.

Most of my positives and negatives have already been covered. There were a couple of regrettable moments when we had momentum (Cripps being run down, Waterman into the man on the mark) but it was good to see us finish strong instead of being pulverised.

Darling was great, TB continued his AA form and Petch made his touches count.

Negatives - love Culley’s physicality, but needs to channel it the right way (ie not hitting people high and late.)

We are missing a take no prisoners medium/small defender. They seemed to be able to flick it around in their forward 50 until they found a free man to snap an arsey goal.

Without wanting to go full nuffy, that Rioli ‘dangerous tackle’ call looked like an ump who was looking for something to pay against us. Nic shoving someone in the chest being worthy of a free was also interesting.
