As Gringo said in the draft thread, Cadman gives off massive J.Cameron/C.Curnow vibes. Would be a perfect partner for Max.

If sending Clark to GC gets us into the mix to take Cadman then I'm signing up right now.

Nice way to treat your young up and coming talent.

Develop them, fill them full of dreams then trade them the second they are worth something

Sorry I don't think this way.

Strength through Loyalty ... or isn't thing our motto any more.

Now there's an overreaction.

Strength through loyalty...

How about we change our motto to Together we rise, Why Not Us or It takes all of us

Stop looking for quick fixes, back your talent in.
Strength through Podcasts work for you?

Haha what I stated is the exact opposite of a quick fix.

What exchanging a known quantity for a risky pick. There is nothing given in what you suggest.

You don't know who is available when you make the exchange, the AFL for all we know might be working on priority picks for multiple teams and we end up not getting who we thought we might.

The only thing you are gaining is the buying of hope.

You don't really get the concept of a forum thread that is for supporters to discuss possible trades do you?

Nobody is doing it but stupid trade deals with multiple 1st rounders should be a win and should be looked at imo. The way I look at it is would it make us a better side, can we replace kings production. If the answer is yes then it makes sense, better to ask who would give up pick 1 plus a predicted very early pick next year plus two seconds. It’s that damaging that the afl probably wouldn’t allow it.

To me we have spent 20 years stuffing up most of our high draft picks. To gamble on turning them into a better pick is just a straight out no. Unless he's demanding to leave or we can't afford to pay him he should be the most untouchable player on the list. Probably the only with obvious elite potential, His value is only going up not down.

We can't even cover the players we do have if there is an injury at the moment. I hate the idea of selling required players for draft picks. Geelong made it a fashion to not draft and pick up mature talent.....we followed it and it hasn't reaped rewards. Now some sides with heavy youth quotas are winning and now we are flip flopping the other way. Perhaps just build a good list and don't worry about what others do.

I think my analogy with Clark and calf is spot on. You get a kid, fatten him up and when he just needs another few months in the paddock to get him ready for the sales yard we are looking at off loading him so that we can pay the same amount for a younger calf and do it all again. It's just list management wank, nothing about it makes any sense.

Freo didn't get better because Cerra walked out, they got better because they spent the last 6 years drafting hard and Hill gave them a huge suite of picks to use at the draft which then lets them dump Acres who will get them more picks. That's a much better model than our buy high sell low cycle.

I’d love to find a way to get inside the top 10 again to give us access to Cadman.
King is crying out for a legitimate partner in crime.
Not a resting ruck, or a 6’2 tweener, a genuine forward threat to pair with.
The more 1 v 1 looks we can get him, the better we’re going to be.

Unfortunately the only players that would get that kind of pick would be our top few stars. We'd be stepping backwards to get it done. He looks perfect though. Should have tanked after the Bombers game if we wanted to get into the top picks. I guess we just have to hope that other sides for what ever reason go past him. Perhaps if SA sides take local talent and WA similar we have a slight chance.

Look agreed but also quite simply half of maxs problems and the teams problems would be solved if he could kick for goal at a 25% rate then he does now. It’s really that simple.

I think we need some variation. Geelong look like they are containing two KPFs off winning or losing a premiership. Their obviousness is their weakness. If you have multiple avenues to goals you are a much more dangerous side. Sydney look a nightmare to contain because so many can get you on the score board.

But if we trade King for draft picks, we have the chance of potentially picking up a player that is maybe as good as King. It just makes sense.

Y'all are nuts thinking Acres would even consider coming back, he'll go to a finals contending team. He's probably playing well because he's in a better system under better coaches, not the work experience crew down at Linton St. We'd probably make him bring his own ball to training.
He's linked to Carlton who missed the eight. He's shit anyway

What's funny is that everyone thinks that Carlton is just going to turn up and play finals next year and we are going to fall over. I think internally we are panicking as well but it was a near identical season with their early season seeing them sitting 8 and 3 and then stumbling through the second half of the season. Only ended with one more win in the end and still missed finals. Got a couple of softer games than us too.

I think their form looked closer to winning than ours in the late part of the year and their systems looked more solid, while we were uncompetitive for a lot of games but it's funny how teams are perceived.

I think it’s definitely worth it. We’ve got nothing to lose by rookie’ing him or picking him up as a late pre selection if he can get through a pre season uninjured.

However, it’d be so stkilda to see another team take a punt only for him to play every game for them.
We have a list spot to lose.
I cannot believe this would even be a consideration...

We could get another Gears, Sincs, Marshall - weren't they all off the rookie list?

I'd rather talk about getting Blake Acres back.

Did you see his game against the Pies?

Hard at the ball, beautiful 60m penetrating drop punts, played through an injury, racked up quality disposals.

He's everything we need at St Kilda.
And, of course, we had him.
