I think it’s definitely worth it. We’ve got nothing to lose by rookie’ing him or picking him up as a late pre selection if he can get through a pre season uninjured.

However, it’d be so stkilda to see another team take a punt only for him to play every game for them.
We have to move on and with the DeGoey trade most probably falling through it's going to be good to see what they do to boost our midfield.

Not even Lethlean would trade King away. I think Saintos might have been throwing some burly into the water.
I would for the right deal, dreams of 100 goal full forwards are long gone. He’s very talented but Peter wright kicked more goals this year. Not the monster he was made out to be, super quick but not a great tank, wildly inaccurate kick. Is he tradable for the right deal no, should he be yes. Two firsts and two seconds with one being the 1st pick, which can be split for maybe 3 and another 1st. So that’s 3 x 1 and 2 x 2 yeah I’d do that but nobody would pay it Imo.

I'm surprised they delisted him to be honest. If he's prepared to go around again as a rookie, that, amongst other things, might be a way to recoup some value out of him. Let's face it, the 42nd guy on our list is not going to be expected to play. At all. And none of this "he'll take midfield time from kids blah blah". He'll just be another quality player we can put through there. I'd say having him in there would help the kids. Just look at the spark he provides when he plays.

Now obviously there is the risk his body fails him, however on the rookie list on a rookie wage it's a low risk.

Low risk, high reward.

I think it was time, we are acknowledging we all the retirements & dlisting it's time for the next phase & hopefully this one pays off.

Not seeing the big picture.
I would trade pick 1 out to GC.
5 + 13 + 23 + 33 = winning

I can't image who'd do that deal. Pick 1 is really pick 2 so you're getting to jump a few places but giving away 3 more good picks to do it?

Interesting, no wonder Sydney are so good. 5 free players all fast tracked.

Probably does give them a few more asterisks but still an incredibly well run club no matter what. In a market that is saturated, even getting kids into their academy is a pretty solid effort. Campbell doesn't seem to get many games yet and I think they also make sure their kids are really ready to play at a high standard and slot straight in to a spot.

The saints academy is the best development in the league. Just look how many sandy dragons are going top 10.

I don't think they are all academy though. Dragons are based out of Moorabin but I don't think we have any control over them. The academy kids are a smaller group or it used to be.

I'm hoping he finds more or he's not worth the money.

He's 22 years old. Wright is 26 and only just came good

Compare Kings year as a 22 year old to anyone current player and he stacks up terrificly.

Only Cameron and Buddy are ahead of him in terms of goals kicked as far as I can see

Good Grief.

When has putting an injury prone veteran on our Rookie list ever worked for St Kilda.

It's also completely against the reason why Rookie lists were created, and that was to give players a go who missed out on the main draft.

Complete short sighted stuff by St Kilda if we go down this path again.

Jones needs to be traded

Jones probably needs to be kept and played at Sandy, he'd be worth nothing. He was very good at times last year and a real POD in the midfield. He was shit this year but really missed do much footy it's not a huge surprise. He's no champion but he's a decent standard. Same with Billings, no-one is going to want to trade. Keep him as depth and hope he comes good.

The coach doesn't use him well. A good coach would have him dominating and bringing others into the game. Ratts had his Joe the goose game plan and once that was worked out he was done for forward strategy. Now 90% of our forward entries go through King standing still which isn't good for his development, our predictability and makes every other forward near to redundant.

Kings stats are bulked up compared to others at he same age because no other club has put so much responsibility on such a young forward. We don't do things by the book.

We're getting DeGoey. Nope.
We're getting Lobb. Nope.
We're getting Kyle Hartigan. Maybe.
We're going to trade Clark out and bring back Hanners. Sounds like us.

At least we can still dream of Stocker and Dow. Perhaps we could give them the Clark pick for them.

I’m not knocking him bird man just pointing out that the game has changed and even if king reaches his full potential everyone has a price, we traded plugger and life went on. I remember seeing Reid for the swans early and thinking gee how good is this kid going to be. He didn’t build up, was often injured and just nether consistently produced. King looks good and he’s got ten years left if we had a better forward set up he’d be even better. It’s just someone else’s hypothetical which imo wasn’t that stupid, no one’s actually suggesting we do it.

King stats are better than any other 22 year old key forwards because he is better than any other 22 year old key forward.

King is a star already but I think he's pretty unique in that he's playing as a our solo tall forward most of the time and just about every ball goes through him. If you were developing a tall forward this is the way not to do it historically. If he had a Josh Bruce or another forward to go through he probably gets a lot less supply. I don't think it's as straight forward as others didn't do it as early so he will be much better than them.

Worst case he turns into a Joe Daniher type which is still a gun. Best case he's the GOAT. What he is doing now won't set his ceiling.
