Why? Would cost way more than he’s worth.

11d 18 hitouts is a very poor return.

We could get any state league ruck to return the same numbers lol. Pick any random one.

Pittonet , who nobody rates is a better ruck than him and only 2 years older.

While pittonet was out and Tom had the run of games as sole ruck he lost the position every week while recording 24 hitouts as the highest count in that stretch.

He’s 24 and nearly 50 games deep so not a baby, but you could also suggest rucks often still improve from there there’s plenty to suggest that Tom doesn’t have any weapons other than athleticism

Tom is a nice athlete and he’s an alright backup ruck if you’ve got no one better.

I've actually seen de Koning play rather than just looking at his stats though and it's clear his potential is enormous in a position where we have a massive massive need. And it's not like Bergman is dominating stats wise either.

That would put them in the realms of English and Gawn. Probably the top 5% of rucks in the league. But remember when English debuted? He was rubbish.

Yes the ruck position at Port is an issue. The game has gone past Lycett. Teakle showed a bit last night, but needs to do more around the ground to influence the play and stop the opposition’s ruck having a free run at it. He probably did as expect as a 4-gamer v an in-form 93-gamer

I would just be investing in Teakle (the preferred alternative) for the remainder of the season and see what happens. Im not convinced spending money or recruiting another “second line” ruck is the answer. Unfortunately, rucks take forever to develop.

At this point they may as well stick with Teakle for this season.

As I posted in the changes thread Dante is my preferred option but he's getting limited ruck time in the sanfl.

Teakle has the height and mobility to get around, but he has to believe in himself and not keep stumbling at his personal crossroad moments.

I’ve seen Tom play plenty

The potential you’re referring to Is athleticism.



I’m using stats here to back up what I’ve seen, and the stats are monumentally against Tom. In every area he’s poor.

I actually think there’s improvement in him, rucks often have improvement in them from 24-28, but I don’t see any guarantee that improvement takes him beyond “ok”.

The odds that he turns that athleticism into high end football ability are 1 in a 1000.


I’m just not excited about a player that is backup to pittonet.

The problem with Teakle's performances at the moment isn't so much what he's doing but what his opponents are doing.

He's played three full AFL games. Going off of Champion Data ranking points, Toby Nankervis and Bailey Williams both played the single best games of their career against him, and Rowan Marshall played the fifth best game of his career against him.

Brynn Teakle's opponents are averaging 149.3 points a game, which is more than any one player is averaging or has ever averaged. Basically at this point the most reliable Supercoach captain option in the league is whoever is playing against Brynn Teakle that week.

Ruck, breakeven at the contest, hold a mark when it’s in your hands. Don’t over run the ball, bump lots of players making channels.

There’s absolutely no comparison between English and teakle

English was an athletic young string bean high draft pick who was elite around the ground, and as good a around the ground marking threat in the game as I’ve seen but got spanked week in week out in the ruck contests who has improved at the ruck.

Teakle is literally shit at everything other than running.

You might as well compare a shopping trolley to a fighter jet because both have wheels.

It actually appears that our players are very well connected. I’m expecting all the young ones to stay. Their allegiance with Ken is a little too strong for my liking, hopefully they all sign before he is gone.
