My understanding is that it was our draft strategy which we totally screwed up, not the recruiters.

From what I understand, we were into Oscar Allen big time. I think our thought was that West Coast would go Kelly or Sam Taylor at 21, leaving us to take Allen at 25.

I’m not sure why we had CCJ so high (was a bit of a surprise to many at the time). I can only speculate in that it was North Melbourne at 23 that were into him.

But yes, an error by the list management group.

Big stuffup then. He already drifted as he was rated the best KPF, Larke medallist and was tipped to go around pick 10. Typical.

Of the young fellas
Samson was the highlight again. He’s the real deal. Handled some big responsibility today.
I thought Judson did some nice things and pushed hard. Many of his best efforts were in the last qtr junk time, so difficult to get a read.
Miller tried hard
Ross it’s all been said already.
I finally worked out that Hugo’s role in the team is to dish out high fives/tens and throw both arms in the air when we goal. He absolutely nailed it today.

Roll some more young’ns through the side

Every team has a heart and soul player. For so long it's been Cotch but the last few years it's been Marlion Pickett. He never takes a backward step. Literally threw himself into every contest today. Love him ❤

I also think there may have been a perceived go-home factor.

Missed opportunity for sure.

Unlike JVR who I believe we were never high on.

Have said this before but what's missing for us are a couple of skilled quick runners, line breakers who can then find players by foot. Its these types of players who take advantage of the stand rule.

We had one who won our BnF in a premiership year, effectively leading the league in effective kicks and metres gained.

****ed if I know why Short is still playing midfield.

Baffled by this.

Surely the go-home factor is a Furphy. The amount of interstate family and friends I know who worship the MCG and have visited the ground when its empty just to see it. These interstate kids would love to play at one of the Big4. We have almost as many interstate players as Vics these days and 8 from WA. It's all good our KPF woes will be solved by our 3rd round pick this draft.

The Tigers have the strongest Tasmanian representation in 2023, with a total of four products from the Apple Isle currently residing at Punt Road.

With a combined 11 players from either SA or WA, just 58% of Richmond's list are from Victorian - the equal lowest among their state rivals.
