I wouldn’t be opposed to trading next years first to them for picks this year either.
think it'd be a smarter play with the number of kids we have atm, to get 10 would cost us more than a future 1st

So Tom Morris throwing darts on the Steele talk re-heating old soup just to get some interest, i'd say the way things are going now & how he's playing that story is dead and buried.
I'm on your bus there Klaatu.

When I first heard about this, this morning ....first thought was that Sam McClueless is at it again.........with Tom Morris whispering in his ear.

Then saw Tom Morris mentioned.

End of interest for me !!!!!!!!

Sam McClueless and Tom Morris as the dynamic duo?

Nah....the dynamic duds.......

:p :p :p

I'll preface this by saying I hope Steele retires a Saint and its completelyum unfounded. But from what I've seen and heard from Steele this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he and his management considered options elsewhere. If the club was surprised, they aren't paying enough attention.

you spoke to Jack?
😯

It would be worth keeping the picks until live trading. It will be a year that a player that another side values highlight might slip though to us.

You could potentially trade down and get something significant to go with it to leave a player you didn't rate to begin with. On the other hand maybe 2 of our preference list slide through and we get the players we would have taken at one and two.
Yup keep the picks. Let’s not try and be too smart like pelican and end up with Dunstan and Acres again. We need the top 6 elite end talent so don’t screw it up!

Yep just saw the form ladder (ladder since round 12) and we are sixth. Brisbane on top.
Actually....6th doesn't come as a huge surprise.

When we beat the Weagles in Perth(which seems an eternity ago) .....with the 8 games since...including that game....the losses were Adel-32 points.....Bris-20 and Port-2.

We lost the Brissy and Adel games after about the half way mark of the last qtr's.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how we fare against Brissy this Sunday.

Gold Coast have literally lost to everyone away from home this year. The way we are playing (and the teams we play) we should realistically only be clear underdogs against Brisbane. I wouldn't be backing us to finish 14th just yet.

The real issue comes if we get to 12th and get that "middle six" fixture instead of the "bottom six" fixture.
A very good call there TP.

I have a feeling that we may just surprise on the run home.

I think this draft is probably one that is a bit less risky but you'd want good players still on the board if you were going to roll the dice.

Lucky we missed Stengle.
why are you quoting me? Aren’t you worried I’ll release my lackeys? 😂 😂

Brisbane have to hit Melbourne in the coldest part of winter with an in form St Kilda full of confidence. I can see us knocking them off.
Would not surprise me one bit gringo.

I'm feeling something in my old bones........it's probably arthritis starting to set it....lol.

We pushed them up in Brissy.....to get within 7 points in the last....that contentious free kick against Windy and subsequent goal killed all momentum.

And momentum can be an extremely powerful force.

And let's be honest....our form around that time was pretty ordinary.

The club was being hammered for ugly footy.....low scoring etc etc.

Just a thought bubble but is the Jack Steele trade talk coming because battle is staying and we’re determined to load up in this draft.

If battle is staying are we the club who made the 6 year offer to Nash ?. No free agent comp really flips the script for us.

The Gold Coast may be keen to trade ahead of any bid on Leo Lombard and have picks 8, 10, 20, 28, 31.
How'd you feel going in with picks 6, 8 and 10?
Assuming a handshake agreement there's no cause not to give them 5 instead of 6.
With that bounty they'll want to get a future 1st so l reckon we could wrap that along with 6 and our 2ndRDP, taking 8, 10 and 20 off their hands plus say a future 2nd or so.
That works out even, with GC paying a F2nd for the privilege

This only works if:

A)The suns don’t move these picks for experienced talent.

B) there is a player clearly in that range that they want.
