Yep. I understand the third veterans badge marks the final curtainThat's cool and all but some of us might be dead before Kens stench has left this club.
Koch's inability to see that a flag would help our finances greatly (with him meant to be a financial guru) is the reason I despise him the most. Sponsorships, increased member numbers, better timeslots (leading to more of the first two), increased merchandise sales. All these have gone begging because we've stayed with Hinkley. Take the most basic of metrics for any club - Membership numbers. The reality is in 2024 Port were 10th of 18 clubs. In 2014 the club was 7th of 18. The club could have been debt free years ago. It's not even that they don't have the balls to sack him (which they clearly don't). It that Koch genuinely this he's doing a good job and they the club has been successful in recent years, to Koch close enough is good enough and if we keep doing the same this it might somehow change next year.
Zero desire to make change and hunt a flag.
I had more belief in the future of the club walking out of the Melbourne game at AO in 2011, then I have had any time in the last 7 years.I had more optimism in 2011.
Georgiadis and Bergman are both first round picks. They are good regardless. Houston and Farrell were both born with elite kicking skills. None of that has anything to do with Hinkley's coaching or development.Every player on our list who wasn't traded in besides Travis Boak has never played under another coach. Most who were traded in have played their best football under Hinkley, as has Boak.
You can't just assume these players would've become what they are through talent alone. You only need to look at a club like North to see that. And I'm not just talking about the three mids. Guys like Farrell, Houston, Bergman, Georgiades and others have flourished as players in recent years. Now that's not all Hinkley but it's not none of his doing. There's a reason the players like him and the Geelong players liked him. He makes them feel good about themselves and probably speaks the language of your average dumb young footballer.
None of this makes him a good senior coach. He reached his level as an assistant and that's where he should've stayed. But to deny that he has any strengths undermines the credibility of this thread.
Thank you for posting what you know. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but it's born from sheer frustration, anger and disappointment. The only problem with your post above is "this time next year, if he fails". He's failed for 12 years and here we are yet again. You lot that are taking it out on Chewy must seriously have loose wires in your head. He never said Ken was gone to start with.
His sources also are right, the decision to sack Ken hasn't happened in a formal way yet but there's a general expectation/understanding that they would let him see out his contract because in their eyes he's a great coach (not my words so don't come at me). So there's no urgency to make that decision formal. Maybe it plays out differently once everyone's in a room and people start to realise how much opposition now there is against Ken. But very unlikely from here on, and this is my opinion, that Ken gets the sack.
There's resistance at board level now, just not enough atm to sack Ken. This time next year when he fails, the resistance will increase and an extension won't be given unless he miraculously wins the flag.
So stop taking it out on Chewy and go live your lives. He doesn't control the club. Just be grateful for his insights and honestly, if you don't trust him then cry elsewhere.
Chewy316 hope you're on the mend mate. Health is paramount so focus on your recovery and getting out of hospital!
He never said it was a done deal.
Don't know that there is wide spread anger so much at Chewy for bad news.
As Chewy has said, no decision has been made and discussions are ongoing. That may or may not result in Hinkley being removed as coach.
Everyone needs to take a step or ten back from the ledge. It either will or won't happen and you have no control over it. If you voted for Tredrea at the board election then you have a voice in the room. In the meantime just enjoy life rather than obsessing over some hillbilly.

I don't think there is, is there?
Who is angry at Chewy? I'm not angry at him, I'm just sceptical of the veracity of the info he's been fed.
Surely it's ok for us to question the info he's put forward given what's happened in the past few days.
We’ve truly become a better version of the Saints: just a team who’s in no man’s land, won’t get better, won’t get worse, just happy to be here, and no real change will be made any time soon.
Teams like the Eagles and Tigers are bottom 4 now, but you know they are building properly and actually have a path to success.
Lol yeah. We are in a perpetual state of believing his departure must be right around the corner.I disagree that we have no control over it, we've just not gotten properly organised to exercise that control aside from voting in Tredrea.
A lot of that is because of the gaslighting. If we'd been told in the aftermath of the 2021 prelim that he'd get at least another 4 seasons, we'd have protested. Our fault has been assuming he'll be sacked if his results dictate that he should be.

The biggest difference between last 12 years and his 13th year is that he's going in a contract extension with resistance at board level. Now I don't have sources to confirm that he had no resistance in all of the 12 years, but I know there hasn't been any resistance for the last 4 years.Thank you for posting what you know. Agree with that 100% bomber.
Exactly what my post was trying to say
I have no issues with Chewy316 in fact really look forward to reading his posts. Certainly not his fault that the old bald bastard hasn’t been sacked yet.Just to clear the air about people having a pot shot at Chewy316. He never said it was a done deal. To my understanding, he said there are people high within the hierarchy that want Hinkley gone.
Even though you think it’s a break-even moment, at best, they’ll ram so many “I told you so’s” down our throats than you can poke a stick at. Add to that, the smugness coming out of their collective behinds will be enough to change the polarity of the magnetic poles.

That in itself is a huge obstacle for Ken and Koch to go past. It's not as easy as it used to be
