Making decisions is scary.Choosing not to decide is still a choice
I now want him to get to 20 years in the job with multiple list turnovers and zero grand finals just for the hilarity of it.Ken Hinkley was never being sacked. He just would have not been extended last year. When this thing finally ends, which IMO will be after one more contract extension (another 3 years maybe?) it will be Port Power and Ken Hinkley mutually decide to part ways after 15/16 years, thanks for saving our club etc etc
That’s kinda funny. You guys came here with insider stuff selling hope. Or am I wrong? You lot that are taking it out on Chewy must seriously have loose wires in your head. He never said Ken was gone to start with.
His sources also are right, the decision to sack Ken hasn't happened in a formal way yet but there's a general expectation/understanding that they would let him see out his contract because in their eyes he's a great coach (not my words so don't come at me). So there's no urgency to make that decision formal. Maybe it plays out differently once everyone's in a room and people start to realise how much opposition now there is against Ken. But very unlikely from here on, and this is my opinion, that Ken gets the sack.
There's resistance at board level now, just not enough atm to sack Ken. This time next year when he fails, the resistance will increase and an extension won't be given unless he miraculously wins the flag.
So stop taking it out on Chewy and go live your lives. He doesn't control the club. Just be grateful for his insights and honestly, if you don't trust him then cry elsewhere.
Chewy316 hope you're on the mend mate. Health is paramount so focus on your recovery and getting out of hospital!
That's sorta where I'm at tooI now want him to get to 20 years in the job with multiple list turnovers and zero grand finals just for the hilarity of it.
"Ken Hinkley started with a great deal of promise when he came to the club. We are hopeful that in this, his 57th year coaching the club, he can deliver Port that elusive Preliminary Final win"I wonder how those historians of the future will portray this period when they're putting together our 200th anniversary book.
This is why I said in the Tredrea thread that I don't share many insights because people here hang their hopes on it like we can control anything at the club. That’s kinda funny. You guys came here with insider stuff selling hope. Or am I wrong?
We’re basically back where we started regardless of your knowledge of some inner sanctum jostling.
Nobody here voted Tredrea in expecting him to sit on his arse with no attempt in collecting numbers for the purpose of getting some much needed change. So you stating there's been some gathering of numbers isn’t some surprise news.
You seem to be quite sensitive to some push back here.
Hope you get better soon Chewy and thanks for your insights.
This is why I said in the Tredrea thread that I don't share many insights because people here hang their hopes on it like we can control anything at the club.
If it isn't surprising news to you and that's the job you expected him to do, then I have no idea why some people in the thread want Tredrea to quit? By that logic he's done exactly what's expected of him in his first year.
Heard the same 2 years ago and here we are,ken makes top 4 he's getting an extension,I have no doubtKoch and Co. Just don't want to be seen as being wrong so they cling to the hope that every new year with new recruits and changing assistants occasionally will see Ken breakthrough. But we all know ken isnt capable make no mistake even though he doesn't show it koch is pissed we haven't got the flag yet under ken.
He knows kens failure is his failure and doesn't want to go down in history as a failure leader at our footy club
I've said before and chewy is correct the board are now split re. Ken they were not 12 -18 months ago. Tredrea has got alot to do with that. There will be NO extension for ken.
2025 is his last chance. I know we have thought that before but this time it's true.
Either ken is collecting the Jock Mchale medal grand final day next year or he floats off into retirement never to be seen at Alberton again
Sure, like I said I'm not gonna reveal much on here because I don't want people to hang their hopes on it.I’ve no idea what Tredders has actually done to be quite honest. I don’t think I’m alone either.
And if Hinkley isn’t given a contract extension for 26 and beyond, it has nothing to do with Tredders. Hinkley is just seeing his contract out.
And heaven forbid Hinkley does get an extension….oh boy.

Did U miss last night's love fest,Ken's going nowhereDon't be so sure about that. This is a unique situation in that the future head coach is already at the club. There's no especially good reason why they couldn't make a move on him between now and when pre season training begins.
Lol Jeezus..There will be a group of people that want Ken extended next year but this time, they'll have opposition.
No decision will be made. They don't need to 'make a decision'. He's contracted. There's not gonna be an announcement that he'll be here next year. He just will.As Chewy has said, no decision has been made and discussions are ongoing.
He hasn't,Ken stated many times,no succession plan , people just hopeMy 1st post on - Sack Hinkley 13 - Another Crack At This
Agree with most of what you say here but my question is, how do we know for sure that Carr has been told he is to take over from stupid.
The club has not officially stated or identified any of this as a succession plan publicly, usually it would be announced at least 12 months prior to the hand over.
Feel free to correct me if I am missing something here.
Club has stated a week ago ,kens coaching in 2025,that sounds like a decision to meA decision hasn't been made yet. A lot of people in here have jumped to their own conclusions without any solid facts. The undisputed fact is that Chewy316 knows more info on here about the club than anyone of us, but in saying that, and as I’ve mentioned in an earlier post, we must fight as one; we’ve lost the battles, but we can’t and won’t lose the war with the hierarchy.

My sarcasm and taking the piss is the only way I can deal with what they've done. I was a big part of the early bring back the bars campaign, I used to travel regularly to away games and went to just about every function I could but it was always about winning then. These players and admin, I can't identify with them at all. They aren't serious. Near enough is good enough and no one is given the feedback they need to be a winner, then held to it.We all know that Doctor Feel's jabs, barbs and constant sarcasm, are all merely a sign of how much he really cares about this damn club, that has been hijacked by the Triumvirate of Evil! This probably your longest, most sincere post I have seen for a few years, and really nails it!
I must admit that my feelings for Koch & Hinkley are now starting to border on hate! This is a little concerning for me, as it is not really reflective of my normal traits as an easy-going person. So I must also admit to avoiding this sort of thread on Bigfooty for my own emotional and mental well-being. This is no joke! This thread feeds the anger and hatred ... stay away for a few days, a week, and notice your mood improves.
I have mainly just popped in to see Chewy's updates. On that ... A big "thank you" to you mate. I know you are only feeding us info you have become privy to, you have no control of the eventual outcome. At least we can be sure that there are forces at play in the upper-echelons of the club, that align with our thinking. Suffice to say that we are very much closer to the end for the three (arguably four) buffoons that are running this club! We count the days until they are gone!
The bones of the club are still there but the body is riddled with parasites. Time will tell if it can heal or not.My sarcasm and taking the piss is the only way I can deal with what they've done. I will always love my club, but this is not my club is it?
100% this. They are definitely not serious about winning premierships. If they were they would sack baldy and they would also beef up the coaching panel. Instead they keep appointing from within. They are a bunch of splineless cowards who are happy with mediocrity. My sarcasm and taking the piss is the only way I can deal with what they've done. Not any moreNo decision will be made. They don't need to 'make a decision'. He's contracted. There's not gonna be an announcement that he'll be here next year. He just will.
You can't genuinely think there's still a chance he gets sacked before next season can you?
