Herald Sun reporting that Richmond are considering trading Pick 6 and 11 to North for Pick 2 and their F1.

Think that would rule out any glimmer of hope we would get Pick 10/11 from them (would have been unlikely anyway).

If it does happen though, it seems North would go for Tauru with Pick 6 and hopefully Armstrong/Shanahan/Berry with Pick 11 leaving a slider for us.

Keep reading North have fallen for Tauru in a big way. Could end up the big climber into the top 10.

Good for us if true.

Whe here Trainor goes is very intriguing.

That tracks, don't think North have all that interest in next years first round and want to finish the rebuild in this one.

Wait just saw that it was 6+11 and nothing else, lol no chance.

With Darling gone and the tank on Waterman and Archer I can see enough room for both as well as Oscar and Jilliams with Flynn as the primary ruck. The exception being in wet conditions.

Really want to keep Archer out of rucking for a few years, we were negligent in allowing Oscar to ruck too early.

And J.Williams........

You would have thought after the OA debacle of competing at centre ruck contests, we would have let our next promising KPF learn his Fwd craft without this added physical pressure.

Just wish WC would just bite the bullet Sydney style and get a Sinclair/Hickey/Ball and protect our blue chip fwd assets.

If we recruited a JK out of the draft under the recent regime, he would end up with 3 year less career due having rucked in his formative years.

Maybe a Matt Flynn type

He did. Said he's good to go for preseason.

Obviously will need to be monitored to ensure it doesn't flare up again but said he's ticked all the boxes so far and will hit preseason on day 1 fully ready to go.
They said he could have possibly returned for the final few round but took the conservative approach and made his return date pre season .

Hoping he has a really good program for when he is off so he can hit the ground running at preseason

Kinda hope I'm reading it wrong because like others I'd probably rather a Phillips or even DGB.

But given Port released Clurey from his contract just so he can pursue other opportunities and we are pretty much the only club that's reportedly had any interest, and we delisted Rotham almost at the same time I'd be suprised if he doesn't sign with us

If we lose Gov, the experience down back could be handy I guess

Like get in a Bailey Williams type?

Or Jack Williams.

This is my opinion of Jamieson.

He was chosen at #49 in the 2019 draft as the best WA based ruck prospect behind Luke Jackson. Obviously there was daylight between him and Jackson.

Made his debut in 2022 when there were not enough players to make up a team and half a dozen WAFL players played.

Since then he has played the odd game or few games.

It seems to have been decided a couple of seasons ago that he wasn’t going to make the grade as a ruckman because of his slight frame. He just got pushed out of the way by the AFL monster ruckmen too easily so the attempt was made to make him into a KPD. This was done so as not to burn a pick and because he is a good bloke and gave his all when he played. I was surprised that he landed his current contract.

He played a few games in that role this year. IMO he wasn’t great. ‘Like a duck out of water’ and ‘having his pants pulled down’ are two expressions that come to mind. He did the odd good thing which was a surprise because it came amongst so much that wasn’t up to standard. To add to his woes he is injured most of the time.

I think he is a very long shot of making the grade as an AFL player and should be delisted. Better than average WAFL player but not an AFL player. There is no comparison between him and Waterman who has clearly been an AFL level player for some years but had an exceptional breakout year which was probably at a higher level than anyone thought he was capable of. Jamieson is coming from a far lower base than Waterman.
Jamo is the worst player on our list. Worse than some of the guys that just got delisted. Classic example of getting an extended run just for being tall.

The attempted move of him to the back line has me thinking about Baz Williams though.

Last year Baz was training for his preferred position as a forward before ending up no.1 ruck again due to Flynn being injured. If we rinse and repeat that then he will be fighting JWillo for the forward/ruck spot alongside Oscar and Jake. JWillo has showed enough to hold his spot so if Flynn is fit where does it leave Baz? He hasn’t shown a great deal of forward craft in his limited time there.

Our tall defender stocks are incredibly thin so do we try him in defense? Maric has the footy IQ to potentially learn off Gov and be an interceptor in the future, but he is also liked on a wing.

Baz is one of the few blokes on our list with some genuine mongrel in him and while he is regularly undersized and beaten in the ruck, he scraps and fights all day. With HEdwards at full back, Baz could easily match it with a 2nd or 3rd tall for size and athleticism, leaving Gov to do his thing for now. We at least know he will give strong effort and doesn’t mind the physicality.

We could have Temu Sicily on our hands and not even know it…

Then if Flynn goes down we bring in Archer Reid and rotate him and JWillo in the ruck. Otherwise maybe Barnett magically has a breakout year or we bring in a mature state level ruck as genuine back up.

So if Matt Flynn and Bailey Banfield are both fit and firing, who takes the number 1 ruck position?
