It is food bank. I have no idea how it will work or when it will be announced but they will be on the guernsey. The logo however is different to the one posted here.
Precisely and that is the company he keeps. That is what distinguishes him to Lara and tendulkar who excelled against the Aussies or gavaskar who excelled against the windies in the 80s.
I sometimes wonder whether Hayden puts an asterix besides it too. If I were an Australian player, I would not want my highest score to be against the zimbos or bangers. The thing with hayden's score too is that Australia got way more runs than needed. It looked like a subcontinental team...
Slats and tubby played a lot of cricket against totally hopeless English attacks. Phil defraits opening the bowling in the first test of an ashes series here in the mid 90s
I totally agree with this. I think port Pirate and encourage a real bad boy image in black tops and encourage kids to come to games with skull and cross bones flags. The old timers would love it because C'arn the pirates could almost be mistaken for c'arn the pies. The kids would love it...
I don't think the Creed and the est. 1870 etc etc does turn people off. It turns off people in your demographic (i'm guessing an over 35 year old bloke who loves footy and supported Norwood, Glenelg or sturt and jumped on when the Crows entered the AFL because you like top line footy and the...
That's the truth.
No one has given a shit about the SANFL since the crows entered the AFL 20 years ago. it is only old men who run the argument that the Port heritage in the SANFL turns off potential new supporters because you need to be about as old as me (35) to remember a time when the...
The point about the population centres in Adelaide is correct -but your argument assumes you need to live in Pt Adelaide to support Pt Adelaide. This is just not correct in the same way that Man U supports don't necessarily live in Manchester.
Why would anyone support Crows Mark II? Would...
For all his flaws, Foley is a powerful character that would not take things lying down (not this type of thing anyway).
For a long time as a club we have been too acquiescent . The whole thing about the prison bars for the heritage rounds was the pinnicle of this.
This story today needs...
Spot on. We use to make fun of the crows for this sort of stuff .. calling them crowbots etc. It is demeaning of both the club and the player - like making Shaun Rehn wash cars. It is petty minded idiots like Gary Ayres that do things like this because it is an easy target.
Why don't we have more port people around the club?
I'm not as up to history and personality as some of you guys. (Was a Glenelg supporter in the SANFL as a primary school kid in their 80s hey day but was drawn to the fact Port is a proper club).
By why do we have guys like Rhode around...
I think this is a good call. I suspect teams have two basic choices for the sub: either a bloke who might be able to do some damage once the pace has gone out of the game in the second half (someone like Rodan) or an emergency type player who can cover any position on the ground if someone...
Even if Warne was half the bowler he use to be, he would still be twice the bowler any of our other spin options is.
However if he came back half the bowler he would be steady and improve the attack but he won't be taking ten fors and winning games single handed.
Watching Ponting...
The pitch was flat and it is a problem.
I know this is scarlige as I come from Adeladie but the Adelaide Oval test pitch has been terribly flat for years now. the last four games have seen draws with the West Indies and India (the game only got through 2.5 innings in that game) and win...
6-7-8 are a real problem. The selectors have obviously considered that 3X 0.5 batsman and 2X 0.5 bolwers gives us one bolwer and one and a half batsman. The reality and the performance is that it gives us three times nothing.
Who ever is responsible for selecting Manou to bat at 6 for SA (when he has an average of about 25 over nearly 100 first class games) should be sacked.
Also SA selectors need to work out whether Dan Christian and O'Brien are bolwers or batsmen predominately and select accordingly.
You are right that it doesn't happen and it shouldn't happen because selectors should be good enough to replace players as needed instead of letting a whole collection of underperforming players gather in the same team.
I agree. Cricket is not a game that relies on coherent team work. There is no problem replacing four players.
I'd start with North and Hussey both of whom should have been dropped some time ago (about two years ago in Hussey's case). Personally, I think replacing Hauritz is neither here...
There are plenty of people putting hands up for selection other than spinners.
Any of Khawaja, Smith, Hughes or Ferguson should be in the team instead of North (who has an ordinary first class record and should never have selected) and Hussey who should have been dropped during the last ashes...
This thread has been a bit hijacked by teh Katich debate.
The real failure of selection has been Hussey and North
In his first 20 tests - Hussey averaged 84.8. In his last 34 tests he has averaged 27.6. He should have been dropped at least 18 months ago.
North - this test not...
Excellent question but sadly the answer is no. NOt to reignite a previous debate but if some combination of Harlett, Gray, Boak, Pearce, Sal, Rodan occupy the top three spots in our B&B we should easily make finals. We just won't do much in finals until this group + maybe butcher Carlile and...
Very interesting that the overwhelming majority of teh footy tragics on here support Scott.
I think support in the broader port adelaide supporting community would be inversed.
It would still come as a major shock if Scott got the job.
