Kovalchuk and Mike Green squared off ... no doubt it will be in video format soon.
After that there were two other fights on seperate faceoffs after each other. Then somehow WSH ended up with a 7 min PP to end the game.
Fantastic, great to have hockey back!
Hey guys, been very busy so haven't been on these boards for a long while. Got the invite and happy to say I'll be back for this season's fantasy league!
Well, I thought the 4th goal by Goligoski that he let in was a little weak. I know it was from cross ice pass and a quick shot, but Halak was deep in the net and looked out of position. He didn't look comfortable making a few saves as well.
But other than that the Pens PP was working very well...
Hey! That first statement is offensive to the New Jersey Devils ;)
With the craptacular top six we have atm, I am not surprised we appear boring. Secretly though, we are just waiting for you guys to score for us :p
Heatley or not, taking 51 shots and not getting even one single one in is crazy.
Marleau, Thornton, Clowe, Setoguchi, Pavelski, Boyle, surely a few goals should have gone in....
I do agree with you that Sharks have been the better team the last two games, and should be up 2-1. Unfortunetly...
Oohhhh so that's why they made the playoffs :)
-------
That was the worst way to end a game, for every hockey fan. You have a goaltender who plays like a wall and one team absolutely dominates, yet the other team wins on a misplaced backhand pass.
Avs may have been lucky to win, but geez...
East
WSH 4 MTL 1
- WSH with to much offense and depth. Halak may steal a game or two for MTL
NJ 4 PHI 2
- Could go to 7 games, Boucher not the best G to have as your starter come playoffs, but you never know, some G always plays out of their skin come POs. NJ game probably too good.
BUF 4 v...
Haha 'looks like'??? There is no need to state the obvious ;)
I've needed a miracle since the first game Vokoun played this week. I accepted defeat a few days ago :p
Ahwell, made the playoffs two years in my first two seasons, so I'm happy I guess.
ah geez, my goalies decided to go cold at the worst possible time of the year ... especially no thanks to Vokoun :mad::(:(
doubt i can win enough categories to win this week.
Great trade deadline! No superstars delt on deadline day, but still alot of fun!
Majority of the trades seemed fair for both sides involved too. The 2nd rd draft pick was popular this season!
The Visnovsky for Whitney + 6th was interesting, I thought a better draft pick than a 6th could...
Philly may go after Vokoun, but thats a big contract and Philly would likely need to move some salary themselves. There are rumours of PHI/FLA trade talks, but not necessarily involving Vokoun.
Also, apparently PHI were after Hamhuis, but he wants to stay in NSH.
A few minor trades today...
It's the year of the 2nd rd draft pick!
Also a few re-signings:
CGY re-sign Matt Stajan: 4 yrs, $3.5/year (4 years seems a bit long)
DAL re-sign Ott: 4 yrs, $2.95m/year
Please do! :)

The gold medal game was awesome! As what has been said, it was almost perfectly scripted: game tying goal in the last minute and Crosby getting the game winner for Canada in fronmt of the home crowd!
The hockey I've watched during these olympics is the most I've been...
I taped the CAN v USA game and watched it. That was the first full game I have seen in a few years. So thankyou channel 9 :) except it was excruciating listening to Ken Sutcliffe try to fill in time talking about the game while the feed from CTV was in commercial during the first period and then...
Exactly right!! :thumbsu:
I also remember just before a commercial break, Ed said something like 'there will be more powerplays after the break' and I thought that was a hint that the next segment after the commercials would show some hockey...ha! instead they showed figure skating :rolleyes...
Oh wow, they DID end up showing some hockey ... not really surprised it was only 5 mins though ... typical winter olympics coverage ... it's more the time slot then the amount of coverage it got that is annoying ... in a 3 hr show with so many other sports occurring, it's hard to show any decent...

And Brades, I very much agree with you. Wild looked to have overpaid. You would think a prospect or 2nd rd pick or something else would be coming back to Minn. with Barker.
Yeh, pretty much agree.
Johnsson is earning more than Barker this season, but Johnsson's cap hit is only 1.483m according to nhlnumbers.com and Barker's cap hit is only 943k. Are the cap hits lower compared with actual salary earned because they have been traded and only the remaining salary...
Doesn't Johnsson's contract end this season? Unless Chicago unloads some other contracts, you wouldn't expect Johnsson to be back next season. Also, the 'top' prospect, Nick Leddy, was only drafted last year, and there is speculation that the pick was more of a hometown pick and to add, the...
Wasn't expecting Palffy and Jagr and seeing Foppa carrying the Swedish flag was awesome :thumbsu:
And don't forget Tommy Jakobsen carried the flag for Norway. Obviously not as well known, but again, another hockey player :)
